Disney's Magical Quest 3 Starring Mickey and Donald (SNES) Playthrough - NintendoComplete

- A playthrough of Capcom's 1995 license-based platformer for the SNES, Disney's Mickey & Donald: Magical Adventure 3.
Played through as Mickey on the normal difficulty level.
Disney's Mickey to Donald no Magical Adventure 3, or Disney's Magical Quest 3 Starring Mickey & Donald as the US Game Boy Advance port was named, was originally a Japanese exclusive release. The version I'm playing here has been patched to play in English.
As the final game in the Magical Quest trilogy, Mickey & Donald follows pretty closely in the footsteps of the previous two games. You play Mickey (or this time Donald, as the title would imply), changing outfits, kicking butt, and taking names. It allows for cooperative play, which is definitely the way to play if you have a willing friend handy - especially since Donald and Mickey have different costumes and abilities.
It looks and sounds great, it's super cute, and it's a lot of fun despite the pretty low level of challenge and the general feeling of sameness from the first two games. If you enjoyed the first two, you'll find more to like here.
If not, well, this one doesn't hold a lot of surprises. It is far better than you might expect from Sun L, though. You know, the people that developed Street Fighter II on the Game Boy and mega Man Soccer on the SNES?

Can't believe this dude just beat the game in 1 hour and a half. As a 7 year old kid it took me 9 DAYS to get to the final phase and another two weeks to beat the castle. It was on gameboy advance (super tiny screen) and there were like 3 or 4 buttons i think. This game taught me the meaning of patience.
How could anyone having a priblem here? I mean, after losing a life, you just continue at the exact same place, not having to start over anything, making boss battles increddible easy as yoy can just countinue damage him with life after life. The first game had unlimited coubtinues also but losing a life meant that you had to start over from your last checkpoint. I would say that the life system in this ganme makes it one of the easiest disney games ever made
@@tryffel8 when you're a kid with tiny hands life can seem very tough
there's just something about Capcom's SNES pixel art that makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside. it's so good.
it's charming that's why. the new 2D games doesn't capture this magic. Guess because it's not handdrawn anymore or something like that
Disney’s Magical 🧙♀️ Quest 3 Starring Mickey & Donald
Initial release date: December 8, 1995
Series: Disney’s Magical Quest
Publisher: Capcom
Genre: Platform game
Platform: Game Boy, Super Nintendo Entertainment System
Plot
Donald Duck’s triplet newhews Huey, Dewey, and Louie (who do not wear their traditional colors) play a prank on their uncle and hide in the attic in hope that he might calm down. They, however, are caught inside a magical 🧙♀️ book 📖, which is controlled inside by King 🤴 Pete. After knowing this, Mickey and Donald enter the book 📚 in order to find the ducking brothers and stop 🛑 the evil 👿 Pete once more. According to the ending, Pete renounces his evil 😈 ways upon being defeated 😕 and becomes good.
The costumes for Mickey and Donald, this time, are different from each other.
Story
While hiding in the attic from their uncle Donald Duck 🦆, Donald’s triplet nephews Huey, Dewey and Louie, discover an old book 📖. The book 📚, which turns out to be magical 🧙♂️, transports the triplets to Storybook land. In Storybook land Huey, Dewey and Louie are captured by King Pete, who plans to take over the real world 🌎. Mickey and Donald are told what happened by the fairy 🧚♀️ of Storybook land and therefore decides to enter the book in order to find the duckling 🐥 brothers and stop the evil Pete once more.
Capcom and Konami used to be kings of sprite-based arcade games, specially on SNES. Almost all their games (specially Disney's games) where so good on the console.
Mickey & Donald is very similar to the first two Magical Quest games, but the co-op 2-player mode and the choice of characters makes it yet another fun, easy, and cute Disney romp on the SNES.
Dorian Scott No problem :)
@@NintendoComplete This was another Japan exclusive that I completely skipped out on, because I simply did not know that there was a third game in the series. Even when the GBA version came out (Good port, BTW). I really like this overlooked series of _Capcom_ greats. The first game is great fun, the second game is even better with its better soundtrack and co-op, and this is the second game's formula on crack. It's a charming series of platformers that rivals _Sega's_ *_Illusion_* series of side-scrollers in terms of quality.
Also, poor _Sega_ kids. You guys *only* got the second game on the console. It's a good Genesis game, yes. But I would've liked a Genesis port of the prequel & sequel to *_The Great Circus Mystery_* . Imagine how _those_ would have turned out.
POSITIVES
• *Good Graphics* (It's very colorful)
• *Good Cinematics*
• *Good Music* (Easily the best in the series... But the second game *really* comes close in terms of quality tunes!)
• *Tight Control*
• *Fun Gameplay* (The costumes aren't "One-trick ponies" anymore! Nice touch there, _Capcom_ )
NEGATIVES
• *Easy Bosses* (Like the games before this one, you can just whale on them with out too much strategy. Kind of a let down, if you ask me.)
• *Climbing* (It just controls a little awkward. You have to be right on the *exact* spot when trying to cling onto the object you're trying to climb. It sucks.)
• *Boring Mini-Game* (At least the music, (despite being the *only* forgettable song in the OST IMO) is not too bad.)
Final Rating: 8/10
If you want to play this series of games, start with this game, then work your way backwards.
Also, play the SNES versions. The GBA ports aren't bad, but the screen crunch and worse sound quality just make them the least ideal way to play these games.
I remember being so upset at this game as a child because Mickey had a boxing glove instead of a sword in his knight outfit. I feel that ancient anger bubbling up inside me yet again.
Oh, this game is *PHENOMENAL!*
The Real Sean W. Stewart, I actually requested NintendoComplete to play this translated SFC exclusive because I LOVE this trilogy of games.
I have to agree, It is great (especially Magical Quest 3).
These games have great music, good story, tight controls, great graphics, etc.
Even the GBA ports are good.
Dorian Scott, *Ashley!!* 😍💕
I LOVE WarioWare! Talk about childhood waifus, one of my total crushes back when I was, like, 10. Right alongside *Gardevoir* and *Midna!* XD
...Oh, and *Vivian* from *Paper Mario: the Thousand Year Door* too! 💕
The Real Sean W. Stewart, I Like Ashley Too!
She's WAY Underrated!
And Who Could Forget Her Song
*"Eye Of Newt, I Cast a Hex On You!"*
*"Grandma's Wig, This Will Make You Big"*
(Shiny Mega Gardevoir Looks Badass!)
Yeah, I loved that song.
*"I Turned My Teacher Into a Spoon!"* and also,
*"...But, I Think You're Nice, and Maybe We Can Be Friends...And if you say no, you're TOAST!"*
I prefer getting the GBA version because I don’t have an SNES
i remember playing magical quest 2/circus mystery so many times as a kid
those capcom disney games where awesome
It's occuring to me just how intricate this game can be. For example, the cannoneer boss? Never knew you could fight him with the knight costume. I always used the magician costume to fight him, since magicking the cannonballs made them fly straight back at him.
(Also the woodcutter's gear can spin the cannonballs back at him as well.)
Nostalgia overload...
I'm not from the times of these games, but i used to play this a lot on a Nintendo my mom had, nowadays i still have that Nintendo, but Magical Quest unfortunately broke...
I'm so saddened I didn't knew about this game! I wished I had played it as a kid!
Download an emulator on your phone, this game is a free ROM download online 😎
It’s Japan exclusive
Barrel armor > Knight Armor
kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk
Eu adorava
AM I the only one who noticed the names and colors for Donald's nephews are mixed up in the translation?
14:13 "Mickey found Huey wondering around..." even though he's dressed in blue.
23:45 "Mickey eventually found Dewey deep in the woods..." even though he's dressed in green.
27:49 (Mickey runs into "Louie" even though he's dressed in red)
I don’t think so
I originally thought this was an error made by whoever patched it but apparently the developers themselves mixed the characters up and the people who patched the game didn't see the error and correct it.
I swear everytime I look at Mickey & Donald's descending in water face and they look at you it makes me very uneasy, paranoid, and freaked out...
My first horror game was this. Its spooky the way King Pete appears out of thin air in the final level
Ooooh
It's that unmistakable Snes magic !!
Man, of course they would only release the first two games here and leave the third as a JP-exclusive. Still, some great people patched the game so I guess I can't complain too much. These games are always fun to watch.
Oh I remember this one from the GBA rerelease. I played that cartridge so much back then. Amazing.
This is the best game in the trilogy. Too bad that this superior SNES version was only released in Japan back in the day. The GBA port, while not bad, just sounds worse. The cropped resolution ruins it, too.
POSITIVES
• *Good Music* (The first level is one of my all-time SNES songs. It's so whimsical... And sounds like it could be BGM for an episode of _Animaniacs_ . Is it just me?)
• *Good Cinematics*
• *Good Music*
• *Tight Control*
• *Simple, But Fun Gameplay*
NEGATIVES
• *Easy Boss Fights*
• *Dull Mini-Game*
• *"HOW DO YOU SCREW UP THE TRIPLET'S COLORS!?"*
Final Rating: 8/10
Start with this game, and work your way backwards. It's the easiest, and the best game in the trilogy.
Also, stick with the SNES versions while doing this.
the first part is better
But Huey is dressed in red, Dewey in blue, and Louie in green.
Esse jogo marcou minha infância
E olha q eu sou dos anos 2000

This game is amazing!!!!!!! I played when i was child
The ending made me tear up a bit
Donald spitting straight facts at the fairy in the intro.
Jajja
A 4th Magical Quest game on the Switch & PS4 with the Megaman 11 graphics engine would be absolute perfection.
This time would probably be Goofy's turn, and he brings Pluto as an assist character cause Goofy himself would be limited in some attributes
Not a bad idea, not bad one bit
This needs to be on the Nintendo switch
Yeah
Hermosos recuerdos del 2016 cuándo lo ví :"3
Y a mi igual
:')
I remember playing this on my gameboy when I was a kid
1:08 NOT HIM AGAIN!!!!!!!!!
this game is epic.
- from a begging korean province laughed and rightfully disdained below a bug even as a whole spiritually even among all asians
This is a fun game, though honestly, I felt Capcom's Disney output on the SNES suffered just a little bit compared to their NES classics. They were never bad, but I also think they lost that something special that games like Duck Tales or Rescue Rangers had. Still a good game, though I personally think Goof Troop is Capcom's best Disney effort on the SNES.
yusakug I totally agree. The Magical Quest games were great (especially the first one) but you are right, they never reach Ducktales/Rescue Rangers status. I enjoyed Goof Troop though but Capcom was taking their Disney games to new directions (even a Tetris game) that I think they were running out of steam by this point. I barely remember Bonkers.
MFields2178, the third game is the best game
@yusakug I love your icon, and I agree with you 100%
@@johnbakasmoothhotchocolate A fellow Oh My Goddess fan?
@@yusakug that's right, if that's the way you see me.😊 This is for you too: ⚘
Don't you mean that Sun L developed Street Fighter II on the Game Boy? Mega Man 2 on the Game Boy was developed by Biox. Also the plot of this game is totally just Doki Doki Panic for the SNES.
Dillon Tam Yup, you're right. I meant SF2 :) Thanks, I fixed it.
Yeah, I guess the translators (and perhaps the original programmers) got Huey, Dewey, and Louie confused.
Hmm... what does the fruit do? I know the coins allow you to buy power-ups, but what's with the apples? Are they like the coins in Mario, where 100 (or whatever number) gets you a 1up?
it looks like every fruit you get is converted into coins at the end of each level
While not the last game I bought with this playstyle (that would be Bonkers, the last Capcom/Disney game I needed and bought), this was the second to last one, and most expensive one of the bunch at a shade over $30 cart only. This was the capper for the Magical Quest series (Capcom went to the well often for the hop and bop style of game this series offered, Aladdin also comes to mind), and it went out with a bang, for what I feel is the absolute best game in the series, 1 was good, 2 was even better, but this was the best of the 3 games (Bonkers IMO comes close to this game, but the music aims more for zaniness).
This was the first game my dad bought when he bought my video game.
Is it better to get the original SFC cartridge, or the translated version on a SNES cartridge?
Repros can be dodgy, unless you can buy it off someone you know and trust (I did so for Mega Man Wily Wars for the Genesis, but the guy quit making repros). If you have an SNES capable of playing imports, clip the two tabs in the cart slot, and buy the SFC game. It may not be translated, but at least you are buying something that shouldn't be dodgy, and will be guaranteed to work.
I swear they used the same swimming animation in World of Illusion.
That fairy looks like Tinker Bell dressed like the Fairy Godmother.
Donald better than mickey
Were these direct sequals?
Me compre una consola retro que emula el supernintendo al 100 por este y otros fzntasticos titulos! A recordar mi niñez
Grey Griffin and Jason Marsden as Max goof and Roxanne
Kinda sequel to “Circus Mystery” with Donald instead of Minnie...
@Juanez Fernandez 0907 If that happens , just give Goofy the spotlight
And if they do Magical Quest 5 have Daisy Duck as the second character and all 6 characters (including Pluto) as playable characters in Magical Quest 6. 😀
Mickey is great!
This is kinda like the movie called “The hero of Imagination Land”. It’s only in my head. I wish it was real. It’s about me trying to get to King Hacker’s castle because he kidnapped my dog, Willow (who started talking because of my imagination) as his slave! I’m sent to the Land of Imagination by Jack Skellington and my parents and my sister are worried that I’m about to be kidnapped by King Hacker too.
I played this game when I was 6 years old and never finish. I missed this soooo much playing with my old sister helping to the next stage. I am wonder can we get this game in App Store ? 😜
Does this game use the Super FX2 microchip?
This game has no chip in it, I have it and can run it through the Game Genie as a passthrough for my imports. My second SNES has the tabs clipped out of it, and since the Game Genie cannot run games with special chips in them (the GG doesn't have the space for the chips tabs on both sides of the main circuitboard tab, so those games cannot be run with the GG as a passtrhough for import games), I use that second SNES for them. My original SNES still has it's tabs in it, that is where the GG comes into play for imports. The Game Genie also works as a nice import game region bypass for the Sega Genesis as well.
Bill Farmer as Pluto and Goofy
Tony Anselmo and Tress Macneille as Donald Duck and daisy duck
Maurice Lamarche as Mortimer mouse
37:37 lol
1:05:16 The wolf does it in purpose she is a troll LOL
Jim Cummings as Pete the cat
Russi Taylor as Huey Louie and Dewey and Minnie mouse
What happens to Disney my dear child hood
CAN DISNEY AND CAPCOM MAKE A 3RD GAME
This is the third! The first 2 were Magical Quest Starring Mickey and The Great Circus Mystery Starring Mickey & Minnie.
MKB219, Japan ALWAYS gets the cool stuff!😡

"Two Hours Later"
*& LOTS* of reasons why.
mano pqp esse jogo, eu amava esse jogo
I like king pete ring
please release on nintedo switch
if this game was released in North America instead of The Great Circus Mystery, it would have sold well and be highly acclaimed... but The Great Circus Mystery was very mediocre and it killed the series in North America... Maui Mallard In Dark Shadow is another incredible Disney game on the SNES, and is probably the best of them (the NTSC Genesis version is better though).... the problem with this game is it is way too easy to farm coins in the card game, they should have barred the door so you can't go back in if you draw a Pete card.
Then do hmmmmm, "Maverick Hunter X'
BEAR IN THE BIG BLUE HOUSE / CLARENCE
WHERE IS MOCRATE??
Que recuerdos:,)
xD
This series was visually beautiful however imho castle of illusion on the megadrive was a much better “game”
And in my honest opinion, both are different and bring something great to the table. It's like this trilogy, and both Illusion games on the Genesis are perfect companion pieces for one another.
Bonus nooooooo!!!!
