This is a brilliant video - great shots and music and I love that you captured all the reality of the trail - good and bad weather - with smiles on your faces. Thank you!

Well done Deen & Alette!! Fantastic record of your journey packed with important good information and tips! Glorious trip, stunning views beautifully articulated by 2 excellent guides who always had a smile regardless of the weather or challenges! Great effort!
Your journey on the Tour du Mont Blanc was truly inspiring! 🏔 It's evident you had an incredible adventure with stunning landscapes and positive vibes. Your video provided so much valuable information, and I truly appreciate that. 🌄 I'm planning my own TMB adventure, and your video has been incredibly helpful in getting me prepared and excited for it. Keep up the fantastic work, and thanks for sharing this incredible experience with all of us! 🎒🌟
Thoroughlenjoyed your TMB vlog. We finished the TMB in August 2023. Your video is a fantastic overview of the TMB, though we had much better weather, thanks to the European summer heatwave.
Very well done - you guys were so positive and always smiling. Good choice of music too. Great videography. Keep it up. Love from US. I am doing the TMB with my wife (and other friends) in late June2023. Looking forward to it.
@@Hikaholics I've been planning this for quite some time now, and I'm almost ready to make the leap. Just need to finalize when that will be. Exciting times ahead!
Absolutely stunning views! Such amazing videos! I'm shocked more people have not viewed your beautiful journey. Thank you for sharing this fun adventure. You both seem like smart people with such positive attitudes on the trail. I loved every minute of it. I want to do this and am trying to do my homework before i take the plunge. It's incredible how you both woke up and started your day on the trail with such enormous smiles and ended the hike with the same big smiles. Keep up the exploration of this beautiful world and please continue to share with us all. Be safe out there!
Hi Renee! Thank you so much for your kind words. It makes our hearts warm ❤️❤️ we know for sure that you will hike this trail with the same big smile as us ❤️ It’s an incredible journey. And again, thank you so much for all the compliments. It means the world to us
I really enjoy your videos. I really enjoy your communication style, info, etc. I have adopted Alette’s words for the gifts of the trails: Trail Angels, Trail gifts, Trail Magic, etc. And love the music choices. Can’t stop watching!
Hi Noel!! Thank you so much for the compliments, it means the world to us! Glad our video helps. Let us know if you have any questions left, always happy to help out. Enjoy your TMB!
FANTASTIC VIDEO (and Music) !!! It REALLY brought back memories - video much sharper than the MANY photos I took, back when I did the TMB (with 2 male friends) back in Sept 2012. We hiked over both Grand col Ferret and Fenetre d'Arpette, in very nice weather: They were, in equal parts, both Spectacular and Strenuous ! But even on the lower routes, it was nice to just enjoy the authentic architecture and cultural setting. I am so sorry that your weather did not always cooperate. We had thunder only twice: Overnight, while in Trient, and also late evening staying at Lac Blanc. But after Lac Blanc, Day 11 was All Rain, so we hiked downhill from near La Flegere back through Chamonix to Les Houches (and Hot Water !). Sad that your experience at Refuge Lac Blanc was so mixed in quality - confirming what I had read about the place in recent years. But, in contrast, Refuge de Balme seemed more friendly (to non-guests) than when we stopped there. I was apprehensive about The Ladders, but the first two were the only ones where I felt "exposed". Just Don't Look Down. Thanks Again !
Thank you so much! Great that it brought back so many memories! Even though the weather was not perfect, it made our TMB and we loved it. Any more adventures planned?
@@Hikaholics Now at age 63 (not a (heavier) 52) - and reduced activity since successfully avoiding COVID - I think I'd want a Full Medical Work-up, before trying something similar to the TMB ! XD

Thank you for watching the complete trail of the Tour du Mont Blanc with pinpoints, commentary and detailed maps. If you are here just for pretty views, consider watching our silent hiking video of the TMB which is only 20 minutes long: ruclips.net/video/TkxUDgH0xQA/видео.html

Thank you guys for such inspiring video and all the tips! Excellent! Absolutely amazing! And great songs by the way!
Thank you so much Ricardo! You and your family will love the TMB and such an amazing milestone to hike the TMB as your Philmont. We hope you will like the TMB as much as we did and don’t hesitate to ask us any questions about the trail! ❤️
You’re welcome! And thanks for the nice comment 😍 Good that you book in advance, that way you can be sure that you have the huts! Already wishing you an amazing trip next year!
Trailrunners would definitely be enough as long as you have experience hiking on these type of shoes. We have a Packlist video as well where we explain why we choose trailrunners: ruclips.net/video/trZskdu_JxA/видео.html When are you hiking the TMB?
@@Hikaholics I'm going to try TMB untrained and it will be my first long distance hike. However I did a few 1/2/3 day hikes of 6 hours walking or/and 1500-3000 meters height difference so I guess I can do the TMB
@@Hikaholics I'm really doubting between my trailrunners (I love them) or hiking boots. I will pack my luggage light but on the other side I have 3kg extra gear because of camping equipment and drone. I hear hiking boots are better because they give extra support but on the other side it puts more pressure on the knees?
We used Météo-France which has an app as well. But best to ask the people in the huts along the way for forecasts. They are very accurate most of the time!
Wonderful video of the complete TMB. I have booked to do the Tour this July so it was greta to be able to walk it with you, to see the scenery, conditions locations and your commentary about the various huts. It might seem unusual but I really loved seeing your pictures of the various signs! Reading guide books gives no idea of where you are and how far it is to go to the next location. When I am on a trail I always take a photo of the signs. Thank you Alette and Deen.
Great video guys, amazing positive vibes, loved it! I'm doing the hike myself in 10 days, I hope I'll be able to capture it as well as you did there with your amazing video :)
Great video description of the tour and love the music.. We are thinking of doing the tour next summer.. Do you know if there is a way to break up some of the longer days in half thanks
Thank you! That's amazing! Yes you can definitely break up the longer days but you really have to book the huts in advance since all they are fully booked really quick. Bookings are open now, so the sooner the better. Hope this helps?
Love your beautiful well info video. It's like watching a hiking movie! Thank You! May I ask it is possible to do the same in October? I knew my favourite refuge Du La Blanc (into the view) would be closed, is that any refuge next to it open in early October? or any advise I can spent a night there besides camp. I wish to witness the sunrise and sunset at Mont Blanc. Understood you both did not pre-booked the refuge in this adventure?
Thank you so much! That’s really sweet ❤️ we know people who have hiked the TMB during the winter months (November , December), but then there will be a lot of snow. You really have to be well equipped and experienced to hike this trail when there is a lot of snow. We hiked parts of the TMB in September and then there was no snow and the autumn colors where absolutely amazing! So yeah, keep a close eye on the trail conditions and decide for yourself if you are experienced enough for the conditions there are at that moment. Have you checked if refuge lac blanc has a winter room? Refuges leave a door open during the winter months for people to crash if they need a place to stay. Otherwise there is refuge de la flegere! Not sure if that one is open in October Ps: there are webcams around the mountains of chamonix for people to watch the trail conditions. For around lack of blanc you can watch the camera of flegere Pps: there is also a super helpful Facebook group for people who hike the TMB. Maybe you can find people there who will hike it in October as well and plan together?
Awesome super journee thanks alot from you guys for sharing this video i like to have same TMB this summer but I have some questions from you if you don't mind to answer .
Thank you! Yes we would definitely recommend Frogg Toggs. Although they are absolutely not breathable, they are really waterproof and perfect for hikes like these. And for that price 😍
Hello! Haha those are way too big rain jackets from Frog Toggs. You can check our packlist here: ruclips.net/video/trZskdu_JxA/видео.html Hope this helps? Enjoy the TMB!

Hi!! We booked the tour ourselves, so we didn’t use a company. There are TMB Facebook groups in which there is much talk about booking companies, so maybe you will find a great company via there. Good luck! And we hope you love the TMB as much as we did 😍
Hi - You mention that you were on the TMB in October. Is there a video? We're visiting mid October and it would be nice to see what sort of weather we might expect.

Peace ☮️ and love ❤️, Zin And I’m curious how much the cost was for each meal? And the weight of your gear?? TU!!! I subscribed and liked!!!

You’re welcome! Glad you enjoyed our video 😍 there are shortcuts but not everywhere. The French side (around the Chamonix area) of the TMB has the most available shortcuts. But you can’t really avoid the bigger mountain passes to go to another country ( unless you have a car). Hope this helps a bit?
Hello! I would like to know more about the alternative option to avoid the TMB ladders. Is it an easy and doable option? I mean, the alternative route would add how much time and distance? Also, how easy or difficult are the LADDERS? Thank you!
Thank you!! We carried out stuff all the way by ourselves. It wasn’t that heavy since we did the trek hut to hut. There are options for luggage transfer but we don’t have any experience with that
A few questions. Would you recommend learning some French and such before this? I only speak Spanish and English. Also, what was that contraption you’re drinking from @59:48? Love your videos!
Thank you so much! Don’t worry about learning French. We only speak Dutch and English (and we know how to order coffee in French 😂), and we were perfectly fine during the TMB. It’s a super touristic area, so most people know English. We know the basics like good day (bonjour), thank you (merci) and little words like that. But it is absolutely not necessary. The thing we are drinking from is a water filter. It’s the one from sawyer. We also have the katadyn befree which we like more. There are enough regular water refill points during the trail, so a water filter is not necessary. If you want to drink from streams or other water sources during the trail, we would recommend carrying a filter. There are also tablets to filter your water. But if you drink water from the refugees and the big fountains along the way, you will be fine. Hope this helps!
If you're planning to stay at the area of the huts you have to book in advance. For wild camping you should check the rules of the area. Bivouac (sunset to sunrise) is allowed in some areas if I'm correct. Have fun on the trail! When are you going to hike the TMB?
It's a custom map we built in After Effects. We used google earth as a base and imported it in After Effects where we did all the animations. Are you a video editor yourself?
My (67m) wife (76f) are thinking of doing the TMB next year. Thanks for the great intro! Can you tell me the music you were playing in the background of the video. I loved a lot of it but can't identify it. Cheers!
Hi there! Thank you so much ❤️ You would love the TMB, since it is such a magical experience. We use music from artlist.io! Do you have specific songs you really like? Than I can go back to the edit and let you know the names of them.
Hi Alex! Thank you, and great question. For the TMB you have to pre-book. All the refuges are already open for bookings and it will be pretty quickly be fully booked. Next Friday we will upload a video about how we went around with the bookings. So make sure to stick around and hit that subscribe button
@@Hikaholics Did you ever post the video on booking huts? I don't see it on your channel. I'm trying to book for September '24 now. Hoping I'm not too late...:) Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks for sharing your experiences, wisdom and great spirits!
I noticed that with nearly all tour du Mont Blanc videos that there isn’t any mention as to how the accommodations were booked. I wanted to know if you would be willing share how you successfully booked all of the huts you stayed the night in. For example, if you used a booking service or if you booked separately and if so, how you had to secure your bookings and things we should know if we are trying to book?
Great question! This is purely an inspirational and informative video about the trail itself. We will be creating a ‘how to plan the TMB’-video soon to cover that topic. We did book all the huts ourselves and used this website for planning www.montourdumontblanc.com/uk/ We had to do a few cancelations due to late booking. And that did cost us a bit. The biggest tip is to start booking early!
Thank you! Really depends on where you eat and sleep. But you can do the trail relatively cheap if you buy your own food for during the day (many resupply points along the way) and camp. We stayed in huts that were around 50-75€ pp per night (including dinner and breakfast) and bought lunch at the huts (10€pp) or at the supermarket for cheaper. Hope this answers your question a bit?
I will be organizing a 10-day TMB in Aug or Sep this year. This video is very informative and it gives us a good idea what can be expected per stage. I have two questions - (1) Can someone use cable car, public transport and taxi along each stage to shorten the day hike? (2) Is it easy for someone to get a taxi or public transport to reach the next refuge if he decides to take a break from an expected long day and steep climb? Thanks.
Hi there! Thank you for your compliments. And that's a great idea. Do have in mind that a lot of huts are already fully booked for upcoming year, so be quick with booking the refuges. To be honest, we self booked and self organised the whole TMB. And our goal was to finish it completely by foot. There are a few cable car spots you pass by (certainly the last stretch). But the trail doesn't follow a road or something. I think best is to contact an organisation which maybe can provide you with transport option and help you plan the trail. Hope this helps!
yes, trying to work out life timeline! Hike the Fjallraven Sweden Classic a month ago. it was very tough terrain but overall a great experience. So More to do over that way!
That’s so cool!! We haven’t hiked a fjallraven classic yet, would you recommend it? Sorry for the late response btw, somehow we haven’t been notified by RUclips about replies 🙈
Hi Alexei! Thank you so much for your compliments. It means the world to us. We have hiked the TMB the last week of June/beginning of July. Are you planning to go hike it yourself?
@@alexeibandati1007 Most huts only open mid June so May probably will be too soon. Too much snow on the trail during May so that's why the open the huts mid June. But we would recommend booking as soon as possible :)
Hi, we are wearing trail runners. Altra Lone Peak's. You can check our full gear list in this playlist: ruclips.net/p/PLMWlxKICM2aZ0kgS9YXIVrfSGAH1L_Hj8 We rather wear shoes than boots as well!
Hi guys. Without a doubt, it was the most incredib and informative video I've seen till now about the TMB. I've been watching a lot and I thin k after having seen yours I've been told it was enough such the good and porecise information about all the steps during the way. I'd likwe to know if ti is necessary to book in advance to stay in refugees. Congretulations. I'1m from São Luis-Maranhão, Brazil. João Leite.
This is so nice of you! Yes it is definitely necessary to book in advance, all the huts are almost fully booked if you wait too long. When are you planning to hike the TMB?
Oh thank you very much for thr answer. I think I'll be doing it after the winter which I consider a good season and I'll have more prepared. Thank you again..
True that is is allowed in some areas (Bivouac from sun down to sunrise). Try to stay above the treeline and away from any huts. But best to check the local rules or ask fellow hikers on the trail. Hope this helps?
Hi Toby! You will love the TMB in September, the fall colors are absolutely amazing around that time. The rain gear we used during the TMB are the Froggtoggs, here is a link where you can buy them: amzn.to/3OkMH9Q They are not fashionable or anything, but they keep you dry and are super lightweight. We love them. If you have more questions about the TMB, don't hesitate to ask us! More than happy to help
Also we are camping mostly but would be staying in a hotel in courmayeur. But also maybe we are considering a refuge or two after the hardest stages, so what ones would you say are the hardest stages?
@@dogdoghouse We absolutely love trail runners. We never hike on a different shoe than Altra's. Personally, I (Alet) get pain in my shins and feet from hiking boots. However, hiking shoes are a personal preference. If you are used to hiking in boots, I would suggest going with boots. If you are used to trail runners, you should hike in trail runners. You can switch of course, but definitely train in those shoes before going on a long distance trail with the new shoes.
@@dogdoghouse Courmayeur is a great place to stay in a hotel! There are some great pizza places to refuel 😛 Pfew, that's a tough question. Because it completely depends on the milage per day you go. Sections we considered challenging were: - the climb to Col du Bonhomme (stage 2 from our video series). It was a long climb without any shade. So mostly the sun did make us tired. - Stage 3+4 for us. Because we combined those two, since there wasn't any refuge closer by with spots for us to crash. So if you bring a tent and would go camping, that isn't a problem. However, the downhill from Bonhomme is a long one if you go via the variant. - Most of the time, the big mountain passes are the toughest ones, since you climb and decline a lot in one day. One refuge that stood out for us was G. Bertone, since the food there was sooooo good. Pasta for starters, big dinner and desert. It was the best. Hope this helps!
Congrats, nice video and nice trail. Could you explain better the shortcut taken by car? Did you went back to Courmayeur, border crossing to Switzerland and step out in La Fouly? That sounds a very big detour by car.
Thank you! Yes, we went back to Courmayeur, from there crossed the border to France (Chamonix) and then drove to Switzerland and La Fouly. Big detour but that way missed the least of the trail. And we were very lucky that my (Deen's) brother was in Chamonix with a car to give us a ride :) Hope this answers your question?
Lieve mensen, in the last few months I've visited many of the large cities of Europe by train. In the coming months I'm looking to discover the nature our continent has to offer. Are the hiking places generally accessible by train? I'm quite inexperienced and a bit of overweight, do they organize the hike trails with difficulty levels? How do you train for the mountain hikes while in the Netherlands? :) Thank you and best of happiness!
Hi!! (If not Dutch, please let me know and I will translate it!) Liefs, Alette
We hiked the TMB in the end of June! September could be more cold and more snow. We hiked a section of the TMB (mirror lakes section) in the end of September and then it looked like this video ruclips.net/video/xQB-Ewme_tw/видео.htmlsi=elWb9r7uVThh4Ijf
Is TMB goed aangegeven dmv pijltjes?

Great video - glad you enjoyed it despite the weather!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thoroughlenjoyed your TMB vlog. We finished the TMB in August 2023. Your video is a fantastic overview of the TMB, though we had much better weather, thanks to the European summer heatwave.
Thank you! Glad that you had better weather haha! Congrats on finishing the TMB!
Lovely couple, very enjoyable. More informative than other videos I have watched. Thank you.

Great video, thanks!

XD

I see in the video that you are both not wearing mountain boots? Would trail run shoes be enough or do you recommend hiking boots like B-C category?
Trailrunners would definitely be enough as long as you have experience hiking on these type of shoes. We have a Packlist video as well where we explain why we choose trailrunners: ruclips.net/video/trZskdu_JxA/видео.html
When are you hiking the TMB?
@@Hikaholics I plan to hike TMB around 10 July. It seems you got a bit unlucky with all those rainy days?
@@Hikaholics I'm going to try TMB untrained and it will be my first long distance hike. However I did a few 1/2/3 day hikes of 6 hours walking or/and 1500-3000 meters height difference so I guess I can do the TMB
@@Hikaholics I'm really doubting between my trailrunners (I love them) or hiking boots. I will pack my luggage light but on the other side I have 3kg extra gear because of camping equipment and drone. I hear hiking boots are better because they give extra support but on the other side it puts more pressure on the knees?
What website or app did you use to check the weather forecast?
We used Météo-France which has an app as well. But best to ask the people in the huts along the way for forecasts. They are very accurate most of the time!

Wonderful video of the complete TMB. I have booked to do the Tour this July so it was greta to be able to walk it with you, to see the scenery, conditions locations and your commentary about the various huts. It might seem unusual but I really loved seeing your pictures of the various signs! Reading guide books gives no idea of where you are and how far it is to go to the next location. When I am on a trail I always take a photo of the signs. Thank you Alette and Deen.
Thank you so much for this kind comment! We always like to see the pictures of the sings as well haha! Have fun on the TMB this year!!

Not sure if that one is open in October
Ps: there are webcams around the mountains of chamonix for people to watch the trail conditions. For around lack of blanc you can watch the camera of flegere
Pps: there is also a super helpful Facebook group for people who hike the TMB. Maybe you can find people there who will hike it in October as well and plan together?
Awesome super journee thanks alot from you guys for sharing this video i like to have same TMB this summer but I have some questions from you if you don't mind to answer .

Thank you for this beautiful video, I really loved the scenery and the tips. Question: are their shortcuts along the way?
You’re welcome! Glad you enjoyed our video 😍 there are shortcuts but not everywhere. The French side (around the Chamonix area) of the TMB has the most available shortcuts. But you can’t really avoid the bigger mountain passes to go to another country ( unless you have a car). Hope this helps a bit?
Hello! I would like to know more about the alternative option to avoid the TMB ladders. Is it an easy and doable option? I mean, the alternative route would add how much time and distance? Also, how easy or difficult are the LADDERS? Thank you!
Hi Ricardo, think we already answered you via email. HAPPY TRAILS!!!
Nicely done, thanks for sharing. Did you all have your luggage transported to the guys or you carried all every day?
Thank you!! We carried out stuff all the way by ourselves. It wasn’t that heavy since we did the trek hut to hut. There are options for luggage transfer but we don’t have any experience with that

Hope this helps!
@@Hikaholics than you, can you tell me the exact model please?
Did you do the whole tour in these shoes?
Do u guys know if I have to book anything in advance if I’m going to be using my tent
If you're planning to stay at the area of the huts you have to book in advance. For wild camping you should check the rules of the area. Bivouac (sunset to sunrise) is allowed in some areas if I'm correct. Have fun on the trail! When are you going to hike the TMB?
One more! What’s the program you used for the maps at the start of every day?
Great work, did you have to pre book the refuges or are they first come first serve ???
@joannealexander7813 video coming soon! 🙏 think that video will definitely make it easier to plan everything. Have a wonderful weekend!
Thank you! I look forward to watching it! Best!
Wonderful video! And l noticed a google maps track in video. Would you mind to share this track please if you actually have it?
Thank you! Do you mean the GPX/KML? Or the intro map itself?
I noticed that with nearly all tour du Mont Blanc videos that there isn’t any mention as to how the accommodations were booked. I wanted to know if you would be willing share how you successfully booked all of the huts you stayed the night in. For example, if you used a booking service or if you booked separately and if so, how you had to secure your bookings and things we should know if we are trying to book?
Great question! This is purely an inspirational and informative video about the trail itself. We will be creating a ‘how to plan the TMB’-video soon to cover that topic.
We did book all the huts ourselves and used this website for planning
www.montourdumontblanc.com/uk/
We had to do a few cancelations due to late booking. And that did cost us a bit. The biggest tip is to start booking early!
What would you say is a reasonable budget per day per person? Absolutely fantastic and well done video!
@@Hikaholics yes thanks.
I will be organizing a 10-day TMB in Aug or Sep this year. This video is very informative and it gives us a good idea what can be expected per stage.
I have two questions -
(1) Can someone use cable car, public transport and taxi along each stage to
shorten the day hike?

Any tips on wild camping it? Im aware they allow it in some places

The rain gear we used during the TMB are the Froggtoggs, here is a link where you can buy them: amzn.to/3OkMH9Q
They are not fashionable or anything, but they keep you dry and are super lightweight. We love them.

Thanks guys. Would recommend trail runners, shoes or boots?
There are some great pizza places to refuel 😛
Pfew, that's a tough question. Because it completely depends on the milage per day you go.
Sections we considered challenging were:
- the climb to Col du Bonhomme (stage 2 from our video series).
What is the song in the beginning called?
The song from the intro is called Against All Odds - Kutiman / Tiko Tiko. Do you mean this song? Or another one. Let us know!
When did you do this trek? Thank you.
Last week of June and first week of July last year :) Planning to hike this trail as well?
@@Hikaholics yes. beginning August 12
Oh so nice. Enjoy ! If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask us :)
Thank you and best of happiness!
Hi!!
(If not Dutch, please let me know and I will translate it!)
Liefs, Alette
When did you all go on this hike?
Hi!! We started at the end of June and finished in the beginning of July! Are you planning to go yourself?
What time of year did you go? I'll be going in mid September and I'm not sure how cold it will be haha
We hiked the TMB in the end of June! September could be more cold and more snow. We hiked a section of the TMB (mirror lakes section) in the end of September and then it looked like this video

Is TMB goed aangegeven dmv pijltjes?
