  • I took the old particle board shelves and replaced them with solid wood maple shelves. The old gun rack rifle shelf was falling apart and the shelves that held the ammo were bowed significantly. The client asked me to replace the shelves with any type of hardwood, so in this video I show my process of milling lumber, using a router with a flush trim bit, and finishing with Renner Wood Coatings clear finish to make for a sexy rifle rack and gun ammo area for this upright gun safe.

Beautiful work! My safe came with mdf shelving and your video is very helpful. May I ask how you secured the vertical support to the floor? Did you use pocket holes with screws?

Thank you. The vertical support is not fastened and works great with the weight of the shelf and equipment on it.

What fasteners did you use in the fire board? I'm trying to customize my safe I built the electrical box and tried 2 different screws, neither tightened up??
