The military is not for everyone. If someone is already having issues it would not be a great idea to go into the military. We need those who are reliable and able to defend.

My buddy's dad was drug dealer who was told by the judge he could either go to prison or join the military. He served honorably overseas and was even in the Pentagon during 9/11. He's a good honorable man, the military can rehabilitate people very well and straighten your life out

As a former service member (2 years) I have never said or heard any veteran say thank me for my service. What I have heard is, no thanks neccessary, or, it was my pleasure.
When people say it to me I just say “I was just doing my job” or “you don’t need to thank me” because I only did 2 years with no deployment or earned any medals. It’s the same when I meet other vets- I don’t thank them for their service because that’s their job, I just say “I appreciate what you did in the military”

Former Canadian Forces militia here. I once had to move apartments and, with no driver's license and no friends available at the time, had to move myself out of my apartment In various dufflebags slung over shoulders, a pack over my back and a bike, I carried around 300 lbs over a mile (to transit, transfer, transit again, from transit to new apartment). It was hard, I felt like I was going to die or, at least, have a limb or two pulled off But I perservered. Just about passed out when I dropped the stuff I credit the army with giving me the sense of 'just one more step then it is one step less' and never giving up. I was drenched with sweat in a way that I think it took two showers to clear I have endured shitty jobs, shitty co-workers, a bad life... but I always remember, I NEVER gave up

Alright. Getting technical here: He dropped out of SERE. SERE is a school to teach you how to survive in the wild, evade enemies with basic camouflage in the wild, resist the enemy and revealing information if captured, and escape the enemy if captured. There’s different levels of SERE school depending on the job. Highest tier as so to speak, are special operations. Air Force and army are Basic training. All naval branches (Marines, Navy, and coast guard) go through boot camp. SERE school is NOT apart of basic training or boot camp of any branch. He made it passed that point, selfish fuck shouldn’t have though.

This video is BRIMMING with motivation. 😂 This one really hit home to me because I was a person who screwed up and went to jail at 18. I was a high school drop out who got a GED. Thank God it didn’t ruin my future. Long story short I was released and I straightened my act up quick. I worked at Walmart before the Army and just didn’t see myself working a meaningless job like that forever so I summed up the courage to join the Army. I was nervous probably scared shitless at first more toward the fear of failing. Regardless of what I accomplished in my 5 years, I saw it all the way through. I also feel rewarded from what I put in my career because the Army is still giving it back and most importantly allowed me to grow into a much better person who embraces character. I almost have a bachelors in psychology now because of the Army. This Air force flunky is disgusting… I can almost promise you if a courtroom ordered a drug dealer or any other offender to serve in the Army they would run circles around that disgusting thing that demands appreciation for not putting out jack shit and quitting. As a former service member (2 years) I have never said or heard any veteran say thank me for my service. What I have heard is, no thanks neccessary, or, it was my pleasure.
When people say it to me I just say “I was just doing my job” or “you don’t need to thank me” because I only did 2 years with no deployment or earned any medals.
It’s the same when I meet other vets- I don’t thank them for their service because that’s their job, I just say “I appreciate what you did in the military”

Former Canadian Forces militia here. I once had to move apartments and, with no driver's license and no friends available at the time, had to move myself out of my apartment
In various dufflebags slung over shoulders, a pack over my back and a bike, I carried around 300 lbs over a mile (to transit, transfer, transit again, from transit to new apartment). It was hard, I felt like I was going to die or, at least, have a limb or two pulled off
But I perservered.
Just about passed out when I dropped the stuff
I credit the army with giving me the sense of 'just one more step then it is one step less' and never giving up. I was drenched with sweat in a way that I think it took two showers to clear

He dropped out of SERE. SERE is a school to teach you how to survive in the wild, evade enemies with basic camouflage in the wild, resist the enemy and revealing information if captured, and escape the enemy if captured. There’s different levels of SERE school depending on the job. Highest tier as so to speak, are special operations.
Air Force and army are Basic training.
All naval branches (Marines, Navy, and coast guard) go through boot camp. SERE school is NOT apart of basic training or boot camp of any branch. He made it passed that point, selfish fuck shouldn’t have though.

This video is BRIMMING with motivation. 😂 This one really hit home to me because I was a person who screwed up and went to jail at 18. I was a high school drop out who got a GED. Thank God it didn’t ruin my future. Long story short I was released and I straightened my act up quick. I worked at Walmart before the Army and just didn’t see myself working a meaningless job like that forever so I summed up the courage to join the Army. I was nervous probably scared shitless at first more toward the fear of failing. Regardless of what I accomplished in my 5 years, I saw it all the way through. I also feel rewarded from what I put in my career because the Army is still giving it back and most importantly allowed me to grow into a much better person who embraces character. I almost have a bachelors in psychology now because of the Army. This Air force flunky is disgusting… I can almost promise you if a courtroom ordered a drug dealer or any other offender to serve in the Army they would run circles around that disgusting thing that demands appreciation for not putting out jack shit and quitting. I did just over 4 miles an hour on a mountain trail, with all of my camping gear, when I was 15. As long as you find a groove, walking with a bag like that isn’t too difficult.

I am currently in the Navy and when I went to visit my family back in Los Angeles, some people thank me for my service. I simply said, “Don’t thank me. I wanted to get out of LA.” I don’t know what to say. I feel if I say “you’re welcome” it is condescending but if I don’t respond, I become a shitbag. So I simply say, “I wanted to leave LA.”
