Top review giving this movie the respect it's definately due. A flawed gem.
Deaner Hockings - Reptilian Hunter many thanks glad you enjoyed it 👍🎥🎥
I think as a kid I never managed to fully watch it, either getting bored or falling asleep. In my later years after having read the novel I rediscovered the movie and was positively surprised by how good and especially unique it actually is. The whole look of the movie is very unique and with Lynches directing and the great soundtrack you are definitely in for a "weird" ride. Ordinary this is not and I love it for that. It's flawed, though, yes.
It’s seems share the same experience of this flawed classic! Thanks for sharing and for watching 🙏
I was able to follow the story only because I read the book. I imagine it would be quite difficult to understand wtf is going on most of the time... However the amount of work put into this film is mind blowing. Looks great and there are no f-s given.
Many thanks for the comment! I agree like I mention in the video 1984 Dune is so much easier to understand once you read the novel. It’s real shame as production and costume design are stunning as well as the soundtrack . It’s such a shame
Another great retrospective on a classic movie!
Guilty pleasure film but not aging well - hope the latest version is well made
Definitely 👍 I have high hopes for the new Dune! When we eventually get to see it. Thanks for commenting and for watching 🙏
Thank god i was going crazy thinking i was the only one who loved this movie
alice yobby your definitely not alone 🙏😎
I want to know more about that life-size King Kong build- not much about it online!
Great to hear you found a fascinating fact whilst learning about another movie 👍 there’s a great retrospective called the story of King Kong on youtube ! If I remember correctly there maybe more info on that video ! Hope that helps 😎👍
Great review, although I'd disagree with your observation that the Sci-fi production was more faithful to the book than this production. The series omits much that is poignant - possibly essential - from the book, and some of the casting choices were cringe-worthy (Gurney....omg). Much of this was included by Lynch, but sadly was resigned to the cutting room floor. I agree that any attempt to portray this saga in a single movie is doomed - maybe Peter Jackson should do another trilogy? :)
Thank you for kind comments glad you enjoyed the review
Totally agree with you
Please don’t understand I’m not a fan of that in any shape or form
Guess I was trying to say expanded or included on Lynchs script and cuts
Thanks again 👍🎥🎬
Dune should have been better received. And with age, it did get an audience. I remember watching this on home video as a kid, it just did not appeal or trigger the imagination. For teens, Star Wars ROJ was the SciFi universe benchmark, it could not compete.....why it failed for older adults, I have no idea.
I watched it yesterday for the first time, afterwards I said to myself "what the heck did I just watch". Definitely agree it should of been done in parts needs more background info. Thanks you
Thank you for the comments 🙏 I would say it does improve with many views and reading the first novel 👍
Love the look of the channel dropped a sub and i found you on twitter #SupportSmallerRUclipsrs
Much appreciated thank you and welcome 🙏👍😎🎥🎬
Jodorowsky''s Dune is a huge joke. The guy never even read the book when making all the designs and concepts. I don't understand why people are so hung up in it. He even mentions in the documentary he never read it, a friend just explained the book to him....it's all just a mad mans take on something someone told him and he went design crazy of the setting.
Thanks for sharing ! That’s something I never picked up and certainly makes sense of the crazy production designs etc
@@MatsMovieReviews No problem. :)
It's pretty strange he put so much work into all the design but never took the time to read a 600page book.
I really enjoyed your review here. I got excited when you started talking about the 3 hour Lynch edit, and I started googling while continuing to listening in the background..only to suddenly heard you mention it doesn't exist..so sad now.
Looking forward to the new movie, but I feel it's the wrong format. Dune needs to be a series. Now with series being so popular, and people wanting big long epic stories Dune would be a perfect candidate. Especially when taking the whole book series into mind.
First thanks for that 🙏 so glad you enjoyed it!
Yep dune would make a fantastic series and there’s certainly enough material to maintain a wonderful and varied amount of seasons ! And the money is there to do justice these days However I am confident that Mr Denis Villeneuve is going to deliver something breathtaking 👍😎 thanks again appreciate your comments ✅
What I remember most about this film is how boring and slow paced it was. Not enough of action. As many times as I watched it trying to give it a chance, I would always doze off. The inner monologues were always annoying, way overused. They tried to cram so much of the story into the one film, it really hurt it. Cutting a lot of material to keep the film shorter, when they really should have made this great novel into a trilogy screen adaptation. You just had Star Wars show you how it's done, but for some reason it was decided to do the one film that ended up being a mess at so many levels....The remake I heard may be divided into 2 movies, nice, but still I think a trilogy would be better....
to be fair, it's not really an action story at all. It's more political manoeverings, long term planning, plotting and betrayals. But for all its faults, I always loved this film for the pure style it had, and that feeling of 19th century Empires In Space feeling
