I think she is a female god.
I really like that you use pinyin, traditional characters and simplified characters, you cover all bases! And using clips from TV shows/songs is also a nice touch. Plus I only knew 3/20 of these, so lots of new words for me, some of them are quite funny too like eating dirt. Of course one of the ones I knew is '算了', I hear that all the time when talking to Chinese people in Mandarin and there's a breakdown in communication!
try thisruclips.net/video/Ub6PvBXJrhw/видео.html
May i ask what the only 3 you knew were?
You're the best Chinese teacher I've ever seen and I wish you were my teacher in real life. I love how you display both the traditional and simplified characters
英卡爾Karl Awww thank you for your kind words! I feel honored! Because I use traditional characters in daily life, but I know many students want to learn simplified ones so I display them both :D
I worked in Taiwan before so I also want to learn both.
Which Chinese slang do you find it most interesting? 😄

Correction:
04:29 佛 should be pronounced as “fó”, I mispronounced it as “fóu”. (Sorry for the mispronunciation)
07:20 還 “hái"

I think they're all interesting because of the meanings behind the words & how they are used in chinese but Chi hou is one of my favorites beacause I love food😄🍔🍝🍜🍲🚶🏃👀👃 as well as zheng neng liang because that's what the world needs more of🙏
Deonte Sampson I love food too haha! Glad you like these slang words and phrases :D

I really appreciate how you translate one word at a time and go slowly through the sentences. That helps me understand the structure and how some words change in meaning when combined with other ones.
谢谢
I love how the first slang called me out. Short-lived enthusiasm about something is why I have a million hobbies.

Yok Knnn 謝謝你!(谢谢你!)
As a Chinese, I'm here learning how to say these "Chinese slangs" in English which makes me sounds like a native speaker
For those who don’t understand why 菜鸟means greenhorn. 菜 itself is a slang meaning very inexperienced or unskilled. I guess it’s because veggies are normally soft. 鸟is also a slang for male genital, which implies a person. So 菜鸟together means an inexperienced person
Grace老師的顏值非常高,我看了之後有很多正能量

哈哈哈,我也要好好看看,有时候还真不知道怎么给老外解释一些词
+1
Ok bro 👍 campeón
So glad I discovered this channel omg.
Thank you so much

Good job on trying on trying to tackle the translation. Below is my suggestion.
潑冷水- Rain on someone's parade
吐槽- Roast. To give someone a hard time.
宅男 / 宅女- Geek or Nerd
吃貨- Foodie
抱sb.的大腿- Gain someone's favor
HI :) I'm a university student and my major is Chinese. I'm a freshman also I hadn't learnt Chinese before. Lately, I started to study Chiense and it is really fun(of coursely, it is little hard too hahaha)! I made a chinese friend and whenever I talked to her, I thought I want to learn about some slangs of China. But since I found your channel, I can speak many slangs thanks to you! So, not only talking to my friend but I can improve my chinese. I think this is a purpose why you made your channel. I'm really appreciate to you. I subscribed you hahaha :D 老师,谢谢!

I have a frustrating experience. Not knowing where to begin or hitting a plateau can feel demoralizing and make it hard to hit the books and study like you know you should…Having friends from other cultures makes me more creative. In fresh ways about space and how people create their own world and environment. It is best way to connect between creative thinking and cross-cultural relationships!
This topic is so fascinating! Hope that you make more videos like this!!!

I really enjoyed your vid thank you : )
Something to keep in mind is that 吐槽 and 泼冷水 are usually neutral words. 吐槽 commonly criticize for comedic purposes now, I think this new meaning comes from Japanese comedic animes which include a lot of 吐槽.
泼冷水 commonly used by the one doing 泼冷水 and doesn't mean anything negative. An example would be, 我必须给你泼一盆冷水, meaning "I have to calm you down". This is used when you think a person got over-optimistic or over-confident about something uncertain.
"Reality check" might be an appropriate translation
吐槽 actually is a Taiwanese expression。
Hi Grace! Thank you so much for making these videos, they're fun and interesting :) I wanted to know if you could let me know the names of some of the movies (or TV shows) from which you used clips to demonstrate an example. Or perhaps had any recommendations on easy Mandarin Chinese movies to watch? Thanks again and hope you had a great weekend :D

Grace好可爱啊!我不需要学中文,但是我很喜欢看你的视频~
宅男/宅女 is Japanese origin, otaku御宅, changed from the meaning of anime/manga/game/cosplay/... fans/maniacs to meaning of a person who likes to stay home rather than going outside
Ben Liu really? I thought it was 宅子的宅. 宅子 means hut so...
Angela Yue I'm sure with this one. 宅 was originally used within ACG community in China which had the same meaning as otaku in Japanese. Only in recent years it became a common word to describe someone likes to stay home or just the action of staying home (with neutral meaning).
Ben Liu woahhhhhhh cool I get to learn something new everyday. Thanks for explaining, I was honestly confused. Thank you for the new piece of knowledge :D
the meaning of 宅男 depends on your look. If you are handsome, then it means homebody. If you are ugly, then you are a nerd.

Hi thanks so much that's super helpful. Can you please do more slang explaining videos in the future? Cuz slangs are changing everyday and it's hard to keep up. Thank you so much 🙏🙏 Subbed
The equivalent of 抱[一个人]大腿 in English would be "ride [someone's] coattails". It evokes the image of someone holding on to the tail of a fancy coat (an old style type coat typically worn by a wealthy person)
Thanks for all these wonderful expressions! Love them!More please!

3:41 宅男 or 宅女在英语里其实有一个更确切的词是“NEET”,这里的“宅”并不是指在家里,而是“依赖家里”的意思,含有贬低意味。

Nisa - No problem 💛 不客氣!
Great course, although I think some of these slangs are actually not pure Chinese originals. I think 吐槽 come from the Japanese word tsukkomi/ツッコミ, which means to criticize people in a sarcastic way. 宅男宅女 comes from the Japanese word otaku/オタク, which means more than people who love staying at home, but also people who are nerdy, anime maniacs, or afraid of having social interactions with others. And people I know usually think 学霸 is kind of a compliment for good students, but personally I think it reminds me of 麦霸, so I think it is rather for students who are good at exams or grades but poor at making friends, but again it’s just my personal opinion on this particular word.
I am a native speaker. I told you, these slangs like used in the 80s. If you speak these with a Chinese man over 50 years old, he will like you very much.
I'm sorry but... what is the name of that song? 😆 8:52 I need to see the whole MV now!
谢谢 💕你
