The word Pict is a synonym for Briton. They both mean painted. Britain means the Land of the Painted. The Picts were the last Britonnic speaking Celts in the Northernmost part of Britain before the Dalriata gained a cultural and linguistic dominance over them. There may have been an exodus southwards with the Gododdin tribe during the beginning of the dark ages. Hadrians Wall cut right across lands that had been traditionally held by the Gododdin tribe (Manau Gododdin) and there were many cases of defections by Romanised Gododdin into Pictish lands. They would, after all, have still spoken the same language: Latin never established itself as the first language of Roman Britain, although many Latin words made it into Britonnic/ Welsh. The Welsh word for Briton is Brython. Pict in modern Welsh is Brithwr. When we consider the main difference between Welsh and Irish are the definitions of Q and P Celtic (Q-Celtic being Irish, P- Celtic being Welsh) to the uninitiated the Irish make a hard ‘ck’ sound where the Welsh say a ‘p’ (or ‘b’) in Irish Easter= Caisc, whereas Welsh = Pasc etc. With that understood, we can compare Cruthin with Brython and identify them as being synonymous. If it’s true that the blue body painting synonymous with Britain was also observed and practiced in Ireland, then it would be correct linguistically to identify Ireland as British in its truest antiquarian sense.
The cruthin were in Ireland all seven septs of Laois are directly from their bloodline if ever you meet anyone carrying a real Laois surname like Lawlor or o'moore and so on you will see how pale their skin is and there always great courage

Great video as usual. Have been trying to source information on them for a few years myself. There's many quite interesting aspects to them, including the quite recent discovery of Pictish structures that incorporate the Golden Ratio, indicating a knowledge of sacred geometry. They may also have settled in the West of Ireland. A tribe existed in Clare and Galway called the Cruithin. While modern academia says the name is a coincidence, in previous centuries many writers said they were related and it's more than a little curious that the first Irish Christian missionaries to go to Scotland and try to convert the Picts were from that Cruithin tribe in Ireland. My own mother's family (Lennon) originated from the Irish Cruithin.
It is not far-fetched to ascertain that the Irish Cruithin are related and very likely to have had a common origin. Even Bede suggested that both had an origin in Scythia. There is so much unknown about them. The sacred geometry part is integrating. I will do more research on that.
@@IhanaSuloinen Yes, agreed on the likely Scythian origins, same as a lot of tribes in Western Europe I'd say. Bede was a great chronicler of knowledge. Even the Gaels/Milesians in legend were said to have descended from an Egyptian Princess, Scotia, and a Scythian Prince, Goidel Glas. There's always at least some truth in these legends and it would explain some of the similarities in their cultures. Also interesting that in 2009 scientists discovered that the DNA of the Egyptian King Tutenkhamun, son of Akhenaten, was the same haplogroup (R1B1A2) as 50% of men in Western Europe and 70% of men in Ireland and Scotland. But that's another rabbit-hole altogether... Speaking of rabbit-holes, here's a link to an article on the Pictish Sacred Geometry from The Independent. There's almost no continuity whatsoever before and after the picts, the later Celtic culture was entirely different.
The Picts were one of many small tribes which were the offspring of Gomer. Genesis 10[2] The sons of Japheth; Gomer, and Magog, and Madai, and Javan, and Tubal, and Meshech, and Tiras. The name britain comes from the latin word britannia which in turn comes from the brittonic langauge word Pritani which means tattooed or painted people. Thats because when the romans landed in southern england all the people were painted blue. For some reason it's falsely spread that only the people in scotland painted themselves. Not true.
Ogham is probably a Celtic Tribal language. The lost tribe of Dan of Israel intermarried with the Celts in Celtica, which is now France. The tribe of Dan didn't get lost, they just left. They were the only tribe that were not shepherds, but were traders who traveled far and wide by ships. They actually left from Bashan a town that was once the land controlled by Og of Bashan, a giant, whose earliest ancestors were of the people of Ham. Hence the Ogham name for the language. Some of the Celts were of the ancient sea people who came out of Summeria, Mesopotamia. Don't you just love how far back DNA can trace our ancestors now!
Just to verify to anyone wondering. No, the Irish cruthin of Ulster are in no way related to the picts. Cruthini was a name given to the picts by some MEDIEVAL Irish writers and it has no link to the cruthin. The Irish Gaels conquered and nearly genocided the picts to found the Scotti kingdom. The picts were a separate more ancient people with a different origins and different culture.
Gomer: Gomer, son of Japeth, grandson of Noah, founder of Galatians (Josephus) later called the Gomerites, Gimirrya (Assyrians), king Esarhaddon defeated the Gimirrah in 677 BC, Gamir (Armenians), Gimeri (Herodotus, Stabo, Plutarch), lived near the Black Sea - Cimmeria, Clrimea, some moved west becoming the Gauls (France) and Galati (Spain) and Celtae (Britain).
Gomer = Gimmirray in Akkadian; "Cimmerians" in Greek
Gomer means "complete" (sons were Ashkenaz, Riphath and Togarmah) - also Gamir, Gommer, Gomeri, Gomeria, Gomery, Goth, Guth, Gutar, Götar, Gadelas, Galic, Gallic, Galicia, Galica, Galatia, Gaulacia, Gael, Galatae, Galatoi, Gaul, Galls, Goar, Georgian, Celt, Celtae, Celticae, Kelt, Keltoi, Gimmer, Gimmerai, Gimirra, Gimirrai, Gimirraya, Kimmer, Kimmeroi, Kimirraa, Kumri, Umbri, Cimmer, Cimmeria, Cimbri, Cimbris, Crimea, Chomari, Cymric, Cymry, Cymru, Cymbry, Cumber (Cimmerians, Caledonians, Armenians, Phrygians, Turks, Picts, Milesians, Umbrians, Helvetians, Celts1, Galatians, Ostrogoths, Visigoths, Goths, Vandals, Scandinavians, Jutes, Teutons, Franks, Burgundians, Alemanni, Germans2, Belgians, Dutch, Luxembourgers, Liechensteiners, Austrians, Swiss,
Angles, Saxons, Britons, English, Cornish, Irish, Welsh, Scots, French, and other related groups);
That movie. There not naked Picts are naked
Only in Battle
Aye I ken
"were not one Clan, but more a loose confederation..." so like us Saxons ^^
Just to verify to anyone wondering.
No, the Irish cruthin of Ulster are in no way related to the picts.
Cruthini was a name given to the picts by some MEDIEVAL Irish writers and it has no link to the cruthin.
Just need to verify that because there is unionist propaganda that seems to of taken hold on something like this that isn't true.
The Scottish picts are Scotland's alone and have no Irish conmections whatsoever
Cruthin was the Q-Celtic name for the British.
So the cruthin were Picts. And they were the primary inhabitants of Ulster.
@@raymondhaskin9449 Incorrect.
@@mcfcfan1870
That is correct.
@@raymondhaskin9449 Your argument is hung by the thread that says "Cruthin" means pict and could not be the name of any other irish tribe or Kingdom. You are denying all archaeological evidence, literary evidence and cultural evidence purely because of your thin belief that cruthin means pict and only "pict".
By that logic I could say that a having a row with a friend is the same as rowing a boat.
Or that the country of Georgia is the same as the US state of Georgia
@@raymondhaskin9449 And you are going against every proffesional historian by saying that
That's more like the history of the so called picts orkney
The Crutini were in ireland aswell we are not that .
The irish surnames like lawlor and o'moore and the seven septs of county laois are saod to be a direct lineage to them.
It is even recorded in a poem in the book of lecan
apparently the picts invaded ireland 200ad from scotland
The criutini was what an the Irish author gave of the Picts they actually have no correlation to the cruths
@@cannyreid4304must be a very ancient author then as you will find the ancient irsh word for the picts was cruthin a f flr scotland itself crutinoch
