They remind me of police bikes from my 1940s childhood. Police Officers were tall in those days and many of them rode cycles. A very interesting video, I look forward to more on the progress of these two.
Interesting bicycles, Bantel made plastic mudguards so that is maybe where the reflector is from, my father did his national service in Scotland, one of the places he was stationed was Hawick, which he pronounced hoik, Enjoy your channel, you have inspired me to visit the next jumble at the motor museum, its on my doorstep and have never been.
I have seen before as on bike 2 that weird arrangement for the rear rod brake not pivoting around the bottom bracket, but instead bent around it. Seeing a picture of the one before I thought that it was a repair work around, but now you have one. It is unsatisfactory as the previous one I saw had worn a groove in the shell & the rod had thinned. Most odd! Also, I think there were 3/16 chains, so most likely on your police model.
Do you know which lubricant is recommended for this type of bike? I recently got a vintage Raleigh bike but I don't know which oil/grease is the best. ( It has these little filling openings that are cover with a small metal cap ).
Great stuff 😻

A minimum height requirement and certainly no visible tattoos for Police. Better standards?
Wow. Bike one is impressive. Very much looking forward to you doing your magic on it.
Cheers and than you for the video.
Thank you.

Interesting, thanks for the comment Phil.
Enjoyed the video. Your raleigh sports is the best bike in your collection.
If I could only keep one, it would be the Sports. They are so pliable and lively.

That brake gear is extremely primitive. Very, very old cycle engineering.

A medium Lithium grease for re-packing the bearings and thereafter any light mineral oil will do for the oiling ports.
