International Wild Koala Day observed annually on may 3rd is a momentous occasion dedicated to celebrating wild koalas and safeguarding their habitats.
First launched in 2016 by a network of independent koala conservation and rehabilitation groups in Australia, this annual event has evolved into a global platform for individuals, organizations, and communities to unite in solidarity for the conservation of these iconic Australian marsupials.
Koalas hold a cherished place in the hearts of people worldwide, revered for their endearing features and gentle demeanor. However, despite their widespread popularity, koalas face myriad challenges in their native habitats, including the looming threat of global warming, wildfires, deforestation-induced habitat loss, diseases, and human activities.
