“Don’t do it drunk”- Professor Mike Noble....never been to his class or this school, but that quote is so true and so applicable to so many situations....l realized that when I saw who was laying next to me this morning
I've been finding Rate My Professor has been helpful. Go in with a pinch of salt for whiners and it's a helpful tool. One of the things I always look for with math or math based hard science classes is are formula sheets and or calculators allowed. I take a class to have my knowledge of the topic tested, not my ability to memorize and regurgitate formula. You also find out with a bit of reading which classes are simply difficult, good professor or no, in advance; which is in itself helpful to know as you go into a class.
@@ErikNilsen1337 actually it's good to assume the majority of people who take the time to go to rate my professor are doing it because they've had a bad time in a class. Sadly it's human nature, we are more likely to find the time to complain than to praise. Social media is a clear indication of this. So when you find a professor where people have taken the time to come give them praise, you know you've found a good one. If you can't find that, then remember that people are lazy, and they like to complain. In my school, most classes form groupme groups so we can communicate. Listening to these in all my classes, it's become really clear that a lot of people are lazy and just want to complain about things. Complaining is OK, but the lazy part isn't. Where I am many classes also post some test metrics online when they post test scores. Most at least have average scores and perhaps the range of scores. Judging by that, and listening to the people who dont turn in HW and expect to get by turning them in late.... Lazy and complain tend to go hand in hand. tldr: Take complaints with a good dose of salt when it comes to ratemyprofessor.
Rate my professor is completely Accurate. That's just administrative jumbo. Overall truth. Most of the ratings are spot on.
You know it's a good institution when most of the prof comments are positive
Or they only included the positive comments.

The problem is that there can be a disproportionate mass of whiners.
