What a beautiful cabochon, I agree with you....The flash is amazing. My friend has a few examples of Amazonite and I believe that would be really nifty as a cabochon also.
Excellent video, Will! I feel like I could actually cab given your directions! Labradorite and Moonstone are two of my favorite stones, but I enjoy the higher end Tanzanites, and such for color shifting. Ty for sharing your expertise!💜👩🏼🎨🌻
Yellow moonstone particularly is my favorite stone. That shiller of any orthoclast feldspar is by my opinion more brilliant than any diamond... Good stuff
@@markgibsons_SWpottery oh, one I’ve not had the pleasure of seeing! Ty for the heads up! Diamonds are fine at night and nighttime lighting…but imo, so over valued for all the wrong reasons 🤓
I'm just starting to get into lapidary and your videos are so encouraging and really make it feel like something I can do and enjoy. My favorite stone with cool properties like labradorite's flash is tiger's eye, at least right now!
Oh, Tiger's Eye is pretty cool stuff!! Really glad to hear! It's a hobby you'll really love. If you ever have any questions let me know! Thanks for watching!
@willorocks well, I admit I'm not really sure where to start 😅 I have some Jaspers that look very much like the one you made into a cabochon in another video, but I don't have any equipment (or training, for that matter.) I'd like to learn hands-on from someone who has the equipment and knows what they're doing, but I'm not sure how to get to that point.
@@pippi-exe Oh, for practice, if you can get a hold of some, plain quartz makes great practice stones. Jaspers a fun one to work with too! Save your good stuff for when you feel comfortable. I have a lengthy guide to making cabochons here: ruclips.net/video/Uo6n0Ttn0yU/видео.html without a machine like that or a cabbing machine it will be rough to make a rounded gemstone. Flat surfaces is a bit easier to achieve. Sandpaper is where a lot of us start out with. My early days I was desperate and used sidewalk concreate to slowly and I mean slowly get a flat surface. We all start somewhere :) If you got more questions let me know!

Thanks for watching! Amazonite has an amazing light blue hue to it. That would be a fun one to work with I think!

Glad to hear! It was a lot of fun to work with. Wow, that would certainly be an interesting one to work with, Tanzanite! Those are really neat.

@@willorocks geez, I’m so behind, apologies Will! Tanzanite is beautiful, but very expensive nowadays 😳🫣💜

We are cutting labradorite at the moment! Love these stones! Man you caught some of the best blue flashes on that one!
Oh wow that's super awesome! Its such a fun gemstone to work with too! Thanks!!

@@willorocks I didn't think about starting with sandpaper. What grit would you recommend?
I got mountains of labradorite where i live, these are my favorites. Nice job! 👌
That's super cool! Glad to hear they're your favorite also!
This is probably the coolest gemstone I've ever seen! I mainly do pottery, but what would be a easy to start out with material for shaping?
Can't go wrong with Quartz. Its pretty common, easy to work with. good for practicing with.
Thaanks for replying, I've actually got a bit of quartz around where I live. I'll collect some and give it a go.
@@lucaswoodward3221 That's great! Let me know if you have any other questions. Have fun!
I've got two labradorite skulls in my collection.
Wow, those must be really cool!
