Bleh, I've had braces for like, eight months now and I also got surgery done for an impacted canine two days ago. They had to cut away at my palate which formed a flap then they attached the gold chain to the tooth and my braces then sutured the flap back down. I was also REALLY nervous and when it comes to normal Novocain shots at the dentist they don't bother me but, man, I got seven of them before the surgery and they hurt. D: I teared especially when he inserted them into my palate... For anyone who has gotten this done or is getting this done, be proud of yourself for going through with it. The worst part is probably all of the sounds you hear during the procedure as well as the pressure you feel. Also, the bleeding during the following 24 hours is pretty icky but it subsides quickly under most circumstances. The gauze pack definitely helps with that. As for pain while eating, I don't have any pain at all but everyone is different. Happy healing to all who have gotten this/will be getting this surgery done! c:
+Tilly Jayjay I went in thinking they were going to put me out but they just gave me three shots or so in the palate of my mouth (which hurt pretty badly) and three through my top gums towards where the tooth had been impacted in my palate. The shots and sounds during the procedure were the worst of it honestly.
i know this is a while ago. but the first surgery i had was to get 5 teeth pulled, 1 baby tooth and 4 adult teeth. that time they put me to sleep, and gave me laughing gas. the second time time, was when the gold chain fell off the tooth. so i had to go through the same thing, but not getting teeth pulled, and they gave me laughing gas.
Alexx I had to go through this and it was terrible. The first day, I had to call 911 because my surgeon had hit a artery which caused me to loose 6 counts and more of blood. It was terrible.
i am soooo happy i found your channel i have an impacted tooth too! and literally i couldnt find any info on impacted teeth...love your vids! i get my braces in 1 week
I have to get this done and I am so scared !! my bottom k9 is impacted and my orthodontist and surgeon said it was the most severe case they have ever seen which made me even more nervous. I just scheduled my surgery and I am getting it done in 3 weeks, I'm so worried but this video really helped... thank you so much !!
Ugh, I had this. I had both a tooth ankylosis (and it was fused to my nasal cavity) and an impacted tooth. So I had oral surgery for it. I had that stupid chain for the longest time (probably estimating 2-3 years) and that chain didn't do jack shit. In fact, it did the exact opposite and pulled the right side of my upper jaw upwards, making my jaw alinement lopsided. They ended up fixing it and removed my braces 2 days ago (June 14). The chain is STILL up there and I'll have to have another surgery to get it removed, have an implant for that gap where the tooth should be, and remove that tooth. My words of advice for anyone dealing with an impacted tooth and going through surgery for it is that there's nothing to be afraid of. There's a very very tiny possibility of the surgery going wrong and the surgeon has everything under control. It's not even painful. It's just uncomfortable. Still not the best, but discomfort is better than pain ;)
This video makes me feel so much more calm about getting the same thing done. I got 2 canines extracted, and I have to have that surgery done to both teeth. ❤️

But my Canine and tooth after the tooth after that are impacted and I have had braces for 6 months now going onto 7 months and I'm going into surgery next week. How much longer do you have? I am going to be doing an update here soon, there has been a lot of progress! Good luck with everything, sweetie! xoxo.
@@MiratunNisa Ahh.. unfortunately I am a strange case. my right canine never came down and I have to get it removed and replaced with an implant. My orthodontic work was screwed up though so don't let it scare you.
I am going through something similar, and they cut the chain and they attach it to the coil and they also changes the coil and I got my surgery April of last years and my still hasn't came down 😞

+ericabrittanyxo I am getting this done probably in the next month. :( Both of my adult canines are impacted and crooked up in my gum. I still have my baby canines. I'm 13 years old & I am so terrified just how you were but I do have a few questions!! Were you awake and aware the whole procedure time? And did they give you stitches in your gum? On a scale of 1-10 how bad was the pain afterwards? Did you feel anything at all during the procedure? That's what I'm worried about. Also, did you get to have laughing gas or any relaxer before they started?
+Lindsey Herbert Hii! I was awake the entire time, they just numbed my mouth very well. I have heard of people getting put to sleep. I had that option, but it was more cost effective to stay awake. I did not get stitches because they needed that hole to be open for my tooth to come down faster. The pain was a little bad but only bc they tightened the chain way too tight and it was going into my gum. Once they fixed it, it was fine. Every office is different in their techniques to relax patients... so you may get laughing gas or you may not. I did not. I hope that helped, dear. honestly, you will be just fine. They are trained and have done this procedure plenty of times =) good luck!! xo
+Erica BrittanyXo thank you!! I just got it done today and I'm so sore!!! It hurts so bad because I can't swallow anything right now including Advil. Or else it hurts !!
Mari Medina I just got the surgery yesterday and it doesn't hurt at all! they put you on anesthesia so you just get really emotional and or confused when you wake up. my mouth only started to hurt when I first started eating stuff, but just take ibuprofen and you'll be fine!! no big deal.(: good luck!
Makeupgeek44 you will be fine sweetie :) I did not even get put to sleep and it was not horrible pain afterwards. my situation was a little different because my chain was too tight and pushing into my gums (causing pain), but that normally does not happen. you really shouldn't feel much pain at all if you are getting put to sleep. plus that will definitely help with your anxiety and worries. but everything will be just fine :) good luck!
+Leigh Harris I'm getting this surgery tomorrow and there putting a chain onto the impacted tooth after cutting the hole in my gums I'm getting put to sleep for it though. how bad is the pain when you wake up and through out that day
Hi I'm about to go through the mane thing, did the tell you the adult canine could be stuck to the bone ? If so give me don't feed back on that and how long did it take for the tooth to come down ? Was it painf full for it to come down?
Hi Erica, I am 14 and I have to get my upper canine pulled down with a chain soon and I was wondering when the orthodontist tightens it how badly did it hurt my friends that had this done said it was bad but I was just wondering
I'm in the same situation as u were and I was wondering how u have so much confidence because I'm VERY self conscious about my gaps. and I'm getting braces soon and it's gonna look worse :(
+Erica BrittanyXo oh,that doesn't seem to much, those upper canines are my only problem but they have space to come down since i have my baby canines.this and one sided incisive, that's all, what a curse,i have to wear braces for three teeth. Oh can't wait to finish this, thanks for the reply, you look gorgeous now that you got your braces down,I am happy for you and I hope I might feel that happiness one day.I know that everyone is different so mine could take longer or less. And another question, what was your age when you took the surgery?
Those three years will fly by dear! and thank you, it's a wonderful feeling to be brace-less lol. Can't wait for you to feel the same! I was about 20 during surgery.
Erica BrittanyXo I just hope it won't be three years since I only have 2 and a half years to repair them since I need the looks for my future job. Well im 20 either but thanks to your example I am thrilled to know that is not to late to wear braces now.
I'm have a tooth thats impacted and I'm horrified of pictures I see on the internet! I am 12 almost 13 and scared to death, I'm getting oral surgery soon. :(
Hey at least you don’t have an impacted front lateral or buck tooth like me. I have jade braces on for 5 years and trust me 2 year is nothing. However in the long run it is totally going to be worth it-and btw I’m getting a frenectomy as well so u have it easy well anyway good luck 👍
I hope yours goes well! I just had this done, and the surgery itself was a breeze. Mine was extraction of a baby canine and open exposure of the adult canine. I opted for only local anesthesia, so I was perfectly alert and can tell you credibly and honesty that my surgery was quick and painless (not counting the initial sting of the shots of anesthesia, of course). My recovery has been a little slow (maybe because I'm older), but it's coming along now too. Try not to panic. I lost so much sleep over surgery fears, and I had completely overreacted. Best wishes!
I'm having mine done in 1-2 months , I'm 12 so I have to be put to sleep which is good cause I hate pain too aha. I have to have my braces put on as few days before and once it's done (It's being done in a main hospital) and I have to stay in the ward to recover and so they can keep an eye on me for a few hours buy its happening in theatre and treated like a surgery but I'm really scared
I was told I was gonna have an operation cuz my tooth was buried in having the operation like literally full asleep scared to DEATH in a months time of anyone has had a smiliar case plz reply 😢😢😢😭😭😭
Omfg I have the EXACT same thing you do, except my permanent tooth had already started coming down a tiny bit and you could see the tip poking through the gums. I had to get my baby canine tooth pulled and now I have a spring to make room for the permanent tooth to turn around because right now it's twisted backwards and growing in diagonally towards my front teeth. It's a mess. My other teeth are fine and I need braces for a year because of that one tooth
Hi I think that's gonna be the same for me (I havent gotten my braces yet). I have a baby tooth and the adult tooth is coming out behind it about half way out. Do they extract the baby tooth and pull the adult tooth or do they extract the baby tooth and let the adult tooth come all the way down naturally? Because I'm super nervous
I'm 17 and just got braces on May 5th… I have two impacted canine teeth I have a baby tooth on my left and no room on my right, but currently they are creating space so my canine tooth can fit. I'm super nervous about my surgery coming up & i am already super self conscious about having a space on one side of my mouth and another one soon :( But I'm trying to keep in mind that the end result will be worth it
Kailey Marie yes it definitely will all be worth it! It is your mouth that you look at everyday and so you might be self conscious about it but I honestly don't think others pay that close of attention. :) you'll still be gorgeous! xo.
+Kailey Marie This is kinda similar to my situation. I have two baby teeth on the left and right, with two impacted canines to be removed. They refuse to give me braces before this is done as they said their would be no point because the teeth wont have space to align themselves if the canines arent removed. Im really scared about it ive been watching youtube videos showing canine extractions and its just awful. I'll be under IV sedation which in itself is also worrying me. I know I need to get it done though because my teeth are SO crowded because of the lack of space in my mouth. Ive already cancelled two surgery appointments because of my fear lol.
I am having this surgery on the 14th I am super terrified. However my baby tooth will be taken out but the adult tooth is behind my front tooth. Do you know any thing that could help... Sending my love from England ❤️❤️
Makeupgeek44 that was my exact situation as well! :) My best advice would be to relax and get lots of soft food for the next couple of days. :) also, be patient. I struggled with this but once I stopped thinking about my tooth coming down into place everyday, it felt like the time went by faster. good luck! xo.
I have TWO impacted teeth, a canine and one in the back. I'm scared to get it done I have a consultation next week. Any advice? Also, how long after surgery did the tooth come in?
I had my surgery 8 days ago and it still hurts to eat and drink lol maybe my chain is too tight as well? Idk I’m hoping it will get easier soon though 😩
O S bruh i got my surgery today like hours and hours ago yet i only feel aching and barely any pain. lowkey feel like something’s wrong with me bc i don’t feel any pain and i didn’t even have to take my meds LMAOO
Jasmin Flores funny thing is mine didn’t hurt at all for the the first four days and I was like yooo I’m invisible 🤙🤙😂 but then it started to hurt real bad after that (idk if it’s because the anaesthetic was started to wear off?? ) but yeah its all g now. You might cope better than me but just giving you a heads up in case it gets worse hahah
Same. I freaked and thought I had developed an infection or did something wrong, but it sounds like that pain surge happens to others too. What was with those 3-4 days though? Yikes. Once I learned to better keep everything from touching the site (toothpaste, hot/cold foods, cool water, anything but my warm saltwater rinses, etc.) , those days were less painful. I did stay on a soft foods diet for an extra week just to be safe and comfortable though. Good call on the "heads up" for others. I wish I'd known this was normal.
Hi I have to get oral surgery for two impacted canine teeth I was wondering during the surgery I know you'll be numb but will you be able to here everything that's going on? And also I was worried about how it feels to get the chain tighter .. Like does it hurt when they do it? Thank you 😊
Hey Kayla ! I've had surgery for my impacted canines about three times because the chain kept detaching. But now things are going great and I should be getting my braces off in about a year. But referring to your question about getting the chain tightened, it's a sometimes experience of a lot of pain or just pressure. You could actually feel the tooth in the inside of your mouth being pulled but it's pretty bearable. Good Luck!
I probably have to get the same surgery on my top 2 canines. They're both impacted but I'm so nervous about the surgery! Did you have to go under anesthesia?
I had gold chain put on my impacted tooth last year the chain was stuck on a funny angle it would only come up so far August I had my gum cut and had bracket put on there and pulling it up that way it healed fine October I had my braces changed I'm on my 2nd lot of antibiotics my gum is infected it's throbbing pains aren't doing anything my gum is swollen and red and the left side of my face is swollen
Hello... I have the case as you. I have one impacted canine tooth. I'm planning to get braces soon this year. I just wanna ask if you had teeth extracted to make room for your canine tooth?
I just had my impacted canine surgery two days ago and it doesn't hurt at all, but that's just me personally. I did have to get four teeth extracted during the surgery, and they pulled out my bicuspids on the top jaw (bicuspids are the teeth that look like canines but have a bump on the back). Don't worry and everything should go well.
Hello. I have an impacted tooth for like 2 years and I started my ortodonthic treatment less than a year, I'm making progress, I'm going to take an x ray next month to see if it is making progress! Sometimes I feel afraid that people look too much at my tooth gap, what do you think about it? How did you deal with it?
+Simesinha Hi! Honestly, it is something you are probably going to be self conscious about ( I was) but other people wont pay much attention to it. I only had someone comment if they were going through the same thing. It's always exciting to talk with someone who is experiencing the same process you are. Even if you're feeling self conscious, it is only temporary and people understand we all go through dental work. And if they do comment negatively about your mouth, they don't matter ;)
Thank you so much for answering!! I know this will be worth it, but sometimes I feel so sad because it takes a lots of time, but I know I can't change the things in a day. Thank you again :)
Hey Erica :) I have to get the impacted tooth surgery but for both canines.. does it hurt? I'm the type of girl who is deadly afraid of needles and pain.. and since I have to do it for both of them, I'm deadly afraid! I hope it goes well :D and I'm glad yours went well
Hey, I know I'm not Erica but I had impacted tooth surgery for both my canines as well (we are very unlucky!). I was put to sleep for it, and I'd imagine you will be too. I didn't feel anything at all obviously as I was sedated but the recovery was quite difficult. I experienced bleeding for the first two or three days after surgery and the roof of my mouth was very sensitive for a few weeks week, so I had to drink everything through a straw. Eating was also very difficult for the first week - two weeks after. I wasn't warned at all that the recovery would be so hard so it came as a real shock. I'd recommend staying home and resting for the first few days. Now this was back in 2008 and to be honest, I think my surgeon was not that great, so your experience may be different! But I think it's important to be prepared for the recovery process. It's worth it though, my teeth are now nice and straight! Good luck! :)
i need to habe this.my canine teeth is impacted ...it seems scary...i dont know if i can take it..how long does the pain last?how can i brish my teeth after that surgery😭
hey im getting this surgery done very soon and i really want to be informed with all of this but does the tooth that get extracted look funky attatched to the braces? Like does it look very unattractive or pretty normal??
+Marinee Lara are you talking about the tooth that is being brought into place? if so, it does look a bit abnormal because teeth are normally not in that position. but it's not for long, once it comes down far enough, it looks just fine :)
Hey I have to get a baby tooth pulled in a couple of days in order to make room for a impacted tooth and I'm really scared and nervous. Honestly, was there any pain when it came to the tooth getting pulled? I'm 13 and have never really had much done with my teeth besides one cavity filled and I did not get numbed for that in dear of the needle and it went just fine. Please tell me if getting a tooth pulled hurts? Thanks!!!
rayelle1017 Coming from a person who has had 7 teeth pulled due to the fact they wouldn't fall out on their own. You won't feel any pain. You will be COMPLETELY numb! You might hear some cracking noises and have some pressure but otherwise it is painless. Even afterwards. But I do recommend taken a pain reliever after the extraction so you won't feel any pain if there was to be any. :)

I'm in the same situation as u were and I was wondering how u have so much confidence because I'm VERY self conscious about my gaps. and I'm getting braces soon and it's gonna look worse :(
hey,I need to do this soon on both my upper arch(lucky me,im 20) and I do not care about pain or money but how much did it took to come fully down?
+mariusss95 as far as money or time? Time wise, it took a little over a year for it to come down completely :)
Sorry this is a late comment.
Same invite getting it on Monday
I’m getting it soon! and I’m 14
I have two impacted canon teeth, I'm scared to death and I'm about to turn 17 rip you're so lucky to have it done at that age
Same Girl!
Hey at least you don’t have an impacted front lateral or buck tooth like me. I have jade braces on for 5 years and trust me 2 year is nothing. However in the long run it is totally going to be worth it-and btw I’m getting a frenectomy as well so u have it easy well anyway good luck 👍
i have to get one to but it’s my bottom canine and no one has that type and i’m scared to get it but the good thing is their putting me to sleep
Oh no! I’m so scared. I had a baby tooth in the same place and I need surgery.
How long does it take for the chain bracket to bring down the buried tooth which has been exposed from the gums down to the level of the other teeth?
Hey, were you awake whilst this happened?
+Tilly Jayjay I think very few people are put out for this procedure. I wasn't one of them.
+Tilly Jayjay yes, I was awake during.
When you got surgery to get your adult canine out did they give you a shot to numb you or did they just give you gas?
My sons dentist is saying he should get this chain and he's only 8 so please honestly how bad is it do u think its to much for someone his age
:) you'll still be gorgeous! xo.
Erica BrittanyXo Thank you!
+Kailey Marie Hw did ur surgery go?
Tilly Jayjay Still haven't had it done yet they need more room on my right side to fit my canine tooth
Ive already cancelled two surgery appointments because of my fear lol.
it didn't really hurt at all just really uncomfortable
Did they put you to sleep and like you were asleep for it
Micah Richards nope!
oh wow,My orthodontics said I woud be under and asleep.
I would of loved to be put asleep! He did give me the option, but I decided to stay awake because it was cheaper! lol ;)
so they don't have to put you asleep to do this surgery? ?
Google User no. At least for my dentist the surgery will only take a few minutes, per tooth. They will just numb the area
Google User I was put asleep
my surgery is tomorrow and im so worried. thanks for this video!
I struggled with this but once I stopped thinking about my tooth coming down into place everyday, it felt like the time went by faster. good luck! xo.
Thank you so much. Will hopefully be okay ☺️☺️☺️xo
I have TWO impacted teeth, a canine and one in the back. I'm scared to get it done I have a consultation next week. Any advice? Also, how long after surgery did the tooth come in?
Jason Meza I had four that were impacted
But there is only one that still is
I had my surgery 8 days ago and it still hurts to eat and drink lol maybe my chain is too tight as well?
O S 😂😂 oh i didn’t get anesthesia i just got numbed up
TiltsAtWindmills did you face get swollen ? I just had mine yesterday & my face is soooo swollen
how about a braces update
It will be up next week =D Do you have braces as well?
i had them
Hi I have to get oral surgery for two impacted canine teeth I was wondering during the surgery I know you'll be numb but will you be able to here everything that's going on? And also I was worried about how it feels to get the chain tighter .. Like does it hurt when they do it?
Thank you 😊
I am having this surgery tomorrow. I have been told to eat soft good for the next few days after xx
Good Luck!
+Kayla Worrell How did ur surgery go?
+NNG11 omg me too! Still working on it
I have the exact same tooth missing as you, I’ve got to get this done and I’m really scared
Did you ever get it done? Im getting this surgery in 5 days and im very nervous.
Thank you again :)
you're welcome dear!
I have a tooth gap and it'll be a year in two months. Got my X-ray yesterday , in a month my tooth will be seen. I'm excited 😄
Good luck! :)
+Lexy Klein thank you so much for sharing!
i need to habe this.my canine teeth is impacted ...it seems scary...i dont know if i can take it..how long does the pain last?how can i brish my teeth after that surgery😭
hey im getting this surgery done very soon and i really want to be informed with all of this but does the tooth that get extracted look funky attatched to the braces? Like does it look very unattractive or pretty normal??
+Marinee Lara are you talking about the tooth that is being brought into place? if so, it does look a bit abnormal because teeth are normally not in that position. but it's not for long, once it comes down far enough, it looks just fine :)
please show your smile in detail
Love the video 💜
Hey, I'm probably getting this done and I'm nervous! My friend had it and said it was the worst pain :/ any tips/advice anyone could give me? Thanks! xx
Happy I got my baby tooth put as soon as my aldult teeth came ;))))
