Always remember that it is ok to ask for help. Most of the time we are so self sufficient and independent that we think if we ask we are weak, no no, it takes so much strength and courage to do what you are doing. I love your video's, thank you for sharing. blessings to you and your family.
I am in awe of all that you have accomplished thus far and all the talent, beauty and serenity there! It will all come together as it should and will be stunning!
This is definitely going to be a big job, but the results will be beautiful! Looking forward to watching the progression of that amazing kitchen. Try to relax and enjoy the process.
I dream of the day I wake up in this beautiful country…. Bonjour Marloes … thank you for this wonderful video . I watch them all but don’t always comment. Recipe c’est bon. You are blessed and I can feel just how grateful you are to the universe for this life. The stars whisper to the sky and speak of your love for the land. Blessings and take care always.C x
I use Pinterest all the time too to plan our renovation interiors. It's so inspirational. It's always so exciting transforming a space. Bon courage pour la suite!
I love your scenery and your mood music. I have also pinned the same kitchen inspiration photo. You have excellent taste! I’m looking forward to watching your French farmhouse take shape. I love the idea of an “unfitted kitchen.” This is where the parts are composed of furniture, like old tables, bureaus, Welsh cupboards, sometimes called step-back cupboards, freestanding stoves, wardrobes used for pantries, open shelves, and sinks with integral drain boards set on stout frames. Nothing, or very little, is built-in like in modern kitchens. Everything but the sink can be moved around. An unfitted kitchen would be very much in the style of your farmhouse. It would compliment your brocante. Are you planning something like this? Or will it be a sleek fitted IKEA kitchen, planned down to the inch?
What a coincidence! The kind of kitchen you describe seems to be pretty standard in older houses here and I agree: when done with attention to detail and style it can be very beautiful. And even if it is just a bunch of stuff put together, it does give the kitchen this relaxed vibe. Our current old kitchen is like that. Huge downside of it that it is impossible to keep it clean and that is starting to frustrate me. And in every day life, it isn’t practical to have drawers and cabinets that don’t close properly. And with our height, most furniture is too low (although that can be fixed of course). Long story short: our new kitchen won’t be like that. It definitely won’t be IKEA but a little more coordinated than our current one. And Olav is building it, and he likes things to have a certain standard of finishing… We’re getting a free standing wood cooking stove and we’ll use some brocante doors to create storage and other than that it is really (hopefully) going to be very much like the picture. We’re building the kitchen with cellular concrete blocks. As always at the start of a building process I think I know exactly what I want but you never know, things may change along the way 😂 Thank you for your comment!
@@FrenchCountryLife It sounds like you are planning a beautiful compromise between the two extremes of kitchen design. With your eye for design and your husband’s skill and craftsmanship I’m certain it will be wonderful. Here in the U.S., an unfitted kitchen is a radical statement! Most people have never conceived of such a thing. They say, “A what??” My “hobby” these days is looking through Pinterest at other people’s kitchens. I didn’t used to think I was very picky but I find most of them do not satisfy me in some way. My criteria for a good kitchen is if it invites me to come inside and immediately start cooking something. I don’t see many that make me feel this way. Of course most Pinterest photos are carefully staged and decorated so they feel sterile and lifeless to me. And who puts a giant bouquet of flowers in the middle of their workspace?? Pinterest does! Can’t cook with that in my way. Immediate no. Best wishes to you.
Oh my goodness, that counter top you chose for the kitchen is gorgeous. I like the vibe you’re going for. Thank you for taking us along on this journey, all the work you two are putting into this is amazing.
@@FrenchCountryLife I’m doing great, it’ll be my last week here in Los Angeles then I’ll be making my way back. I’ll see you next month❤️ So excited to meet you in person.

Of course studio McGee for the kitchen. She has a show on Netflix. Also a line at target if you have them there. She has products on line also.love her style.

O really? We don’t have Target here. I’ll have a look at the show, thanks!
Wow the dish you cooked looked fantastic, did it taste as good as it looked?
It was delicious!
What kind of range do you have there? The white one?
It’s a Lacanche, they are made here in the next village and it’s the pride of the region!
Am uploading the kitchen reveal video tonight ✨
I'm confused..lol.. what is the holiday home? Is it for guests, and is it connected to your home?
I completely understand how you would be pinching yourself every day looking out at your surroundings!
We feel very blessed ✨
