  • Probably the most ambitious piece I have attempted to date - took a few months to learn. I used the course from Classical Guitar Shed (fantastic course, but I didn't get on well with putting the ornamentation before the beat, so switched to putting it after the beat, which I think works better for this piece), with some extra pointers from Alexandra Whittingham's instructional video: • Practice with me | Cap...

      Thank you, that's very kind - I'm still working on it though, as there are a few rough edges!

    It is always the player, not the instrument. Great performance, fabulous guitar!

      Today my brother and I tried one of these guitars. I played Adelita and my brother was surprised by the projection of the G# at the top of the second half. My brother is a pianist and He played the same note on the same guitar. The only similarity was that we both played a G#
      The guitar is only half of the equation. The other half is the player and the other half is how the player feels on the day!😅

    Great performance! You get such a lovely sound. I have the Ramirez Del Tiempo as well and like it very much. I'm curious to know what strings you are using on the instrument?

    • @russguitar
      @russguitar  Год назад +3

      In this video I was using D'Addario EJ45, but I have now switched to Ramirez normal tension, as I find the sound is sweeter and the strings feel smoother.

    Beautifully played. Is that CEDAR top or SPRUCE, cannot tell due to a bad graphic card I have in this laptop.

    Russell, thanks for the opportunity. Are you happy with your Ramirez Del Tiempo guitar? (I'm interested to obtain the same model …)

      Hi, yes I am, but it does depend on what you are looking for. Despite being a cedar top, it has quite a bright sound - not as warm and rich as you might expect. Still, the clarity of sound and separation of notes is superb, and I really noticed the difference when playing the ornamentation in this piece. I found the del Tiempo a little harder to play than other models in the same price range, but it has a little spark to it that sets it apart and feels more "alive". It is also a very nice looking instrument. I would definitely recommend trying it out before you buy, and comparing it with others if you can. Hope that helps!

      From your recording I have noticed excellent separation for its category of instruments, and the opportunity it provides to the player. It has a lovely sound indeed. Unfortunately I can’t try it; this is Australia, the only thing you can try here is vegemite sandwich; everything else you must pay up front, order and hope for the best :) But I’d rather have this guitar, than generic ones from China, which cost even more.

      @@zvonimirtosic6171 Fair dinkum, lol. It's certainly a risk to buy without playing first, but it's hard to go wrong with a Ramirez, as they are consistently high quality instruments and hold their value well, so even if you don't get on with it, it shouldn't be too hard to sell on. But honestly, I found there really wasn't a huge difference between all the instruments I tried in this price range (I tried about 7 or 8 guitars), and my choice really came down to subtleties.

      The guitar sounds beautifully; the sustain, the chime, clarity, and when you changed the key during playing, that transition was so lovely I listened it a few times. That instrument punches way above its class, and in time it will sound even better. You too prepared yourself well; congratulations.

      @@russguitar Davvero complimenti per l'esecuzione.
      Poteri sapere come mai un musicista esperto come te si sia orientato verso una chitarra da studio, piuttosto che verso un modello di fascia più alta?
