Judging by this video, the Caroleans managed to get one volley out every 3 minutes; now I see why they relied on the cold steel.

The mud part was a bit morbius, but I feel even worse for the poor garbage bin felled by your sword.

Lord John. Actually you you have partially real 18th century musket. It is model 1747-1815. It is restocked M 1747 by new M1815 stock. The lock and barrel comes from old m 1747. I'm also the Carolian reenactor from Österbotten Regiment area. Greetings from Finland.

I read recently that the standard amount of powder to pour into the pan was 13 grains, I have no idea if that was just for the pistol which the sentence was in reference too or if that was standard.

Hi Sir, you came up on my RUclips suggestions. I am please to find another drill practice, In my ECW regt. is Col John Hampdon's Regt. of Foote, formed 1642 to protect the Parliamentary "Commons" from King Charles II + ruffians.
Our drill with a Matchlock (Dutch) is close, it differs - less arm/ foot waving (pare to basic), since we tend to load on the march we never set the butt to the ground, with the match ends between fingers (outward, LH only, RH only sets to the match/tricker holder) then the orders (3) given - close the pan (horizontal rotate), Shake off, then blow off your Corns" (2+2) .
"Port your musket" (brought sharply (by both hands) diagonally to the chest (touching, LH highest, with lit match somewhat protected from the rain (Jacket/W brim hat) butt held at neck (easier to enter a sudden Club Attack)
Alas No Bayonet, 🤣 jam fit was a French innovation ! 🤣
oh yes. load out 12 shots on bandoliers, plus possible >= 16 shots paper cartridges retained in a "leather" snap sack (my 1st cotton snap sack caught fire (was thrown clear 6M))

Sweden were always very late with equipment, except under Gustavus Adolphus with the leather cannons(not as good as they sound) ;)

...at least you're doing some extensive research - weapons and getting that era / epoch down within a decade is good enough. ( Inventions suddenly improve in areas - but modern world loses it's mind.)
