So heartbreaking - it was a tumultuous year for Annie And Grinnell with many near tragedies but they had just seemed to come through and were settled down with a new family. It was shocking to learn that Grinnell was gone. And listening to Annie call for him in the evening with what seemed like increasing distress broke my heart again.
I’m glad I listened to this interview with Mary Maleck to better understand how this could have happened to Grinnell … trying to defend his territory & his eggs … but absolutely horrified to learn that he was run over by vehicles more than once! 😡 And then there’s the moment when she says there’s “no way” the eggs will hatch now because Annie needs more time to bond with/trust a new male … and yet the falcons prove the human experts wrong again as Annie - within hours of Grinnell’s loss - began to bind with and trust the New Guy, who is now a happy help mate/egg incubator. Power to the Peregrines! And RIP, dear Grinnell, your life & legacy are legend, you will never be forgotten. ♥️
He was hit by a car?? and i agree with you, the eggs will incubate, they are getting along fine surprisingly so close to Grinnells death. A part of me wonders if somehow annie knows he was killed because she took so fast to the new male. So sad so so sad. It broke my heart to seeing annie afterwards.
What! So sad ☹️😢💔 Oh no how could they run him over. Don’t these jerks see that it’s a big wild bird?! 😡😭 Sweet sweet little Grinnell. Poor sweet little Grinnell. We’ve watched you for years. Yo will no suffer anymore. Rest in Raptor Heaven our sweet Peregrine 🤗😘🐦❤️ Thank you for the very informative video. ……We should schedule a memorial for Grinnell ? Can you guys get Grinnell’s eggs really quickly to save and incubate them in the lab? Try… Conservation of Peregrines is so important! Thank you Mary and BC and all those who care and protect our beloved Falcons. 🙏🏼🐦👑✨
