Interview with Kengo Kuma

Floornature interviews Kengo Kuma in Padua's Palazzo della Ragione during an inspection for design of the installation of the exhibition dedicated to the Japanese architect. An opportunity to look at Kengo Kuma's work and understand how he works, experimenting with materials.

I'm not entirely agree with what Mr Kuma said about the traditional Chinese architecture. Because in Chinese tradition, the architecture is considered a part of nature, it is integrated in nature. Traditional garden and vernacular houses in China represent the spirit of Chinese architecture. We do not deny some way Japan has inherited the traditional architectural philosophy of China.

i dont agree with the part he said about the difference between chinese traditional architecture and japanese traditional architecture either.
i think he only knows about the monument huge chinese traditional architecture like forbidden city but ignore that there are so many traditional temples and residential houses are designed with nature environment.we always think about 天which can be think as nature are the most important thing in our life.

Thats true he was probably referring to the more recent developments during the 20`st century

Je suis pas tout d'accord avec ce que M. Kuma dit de l'architecture traditionnelle chinoise, car dans la tradition chinoise, l'architecture est considérée comme une partie de la nature, il est intégrée dans la nature. Le jardin traditionnel et les maisons vernaculaires en Chine représentent bien l'esprit de l'architecture chinoise. On ne pas nier de quelques façon Japon a hérité la philosophie d'architecture traditionnelle de la Chine.
