It’s 0545 hrs in a little place North West of Sydney, I’ve only just returned from letting my chickens out for the day & having my first sip of tea & opens my iPad……… Rest In Peace my friend! Thank you for your inspiration & guidance with my decrepit hands! Thank you for your music & most importantly thank you for the unique human Michael Chapdelaine!…. God loves acoustic guitar & he wants you all to Himself…….. What a blessing it was, to have you briefly here! Love, Peace & Calluses… 😢
The man was amazing. His resilience was second to none. The master class incedent, the way he was treated at the college in NM. he just kept on trucking, teaching, and making a difference in people's lives. Humble and class act through it all.
Thank you for sharing your memories with us, Michael. Michael Chapdelaine was unique, both in his music making and his lifestyle. He did it all his way, and his way was a joy to behold. RIP to a guitar legend.
I was contemplating Michael Chapdelaine last night and listened to Sol y Cervesa, how I learned it, how I hadn’t played it in a long time, and what a special arrangement this is with the afternoon desert storm appearing and vanishing musically. The Cowboy Song is another profound piece. Today I open RUclips and the logarithm presents this video to me that he has passed some months ago. Thanks for the tap on the shoulder last night, Michael, and for letting me know you forever through your music.
The greatest guitarist I discovered through RUclips. Back around 2009, I discovered that Sungha Jung's dad had bought him some Chapdelaine arrangements. I ended up buying the same from MC's website at $10 each in 2010. MC had nuance that none of the other modern acoustic greats had.
I just recently bumped into his music and I was pleasently surpriced by the way he playing guitar. Sorry to hear he passed. Thanks for sharing Michael.
Thank you so much for this, Michael. I discovered Michael Chapdelaine's work in the last two years since starting classical guitar study. His approach on classical and steel string moved me deeply and I was so sad when I heard that he had left us. This helps some. His arrangement and performance of the Beatles "She's Leaving Home" and Couperin's "Mysterious Barricades" are sublime. He added his unique touch to everything he did. And I dig your playing too! Warm wishes from Michigan!
So sorry Michael has passed away and thanks for sharing your memories of him. I saw him play in a barn venue in Virginia about 5 years ago and spoke to him during his break. Very friendly humble guy who was technically in an elite class with players like Tommy Emmanuel and even Chet Atkins. Glad we have an extensive RUclips catalog of hus playing.
I loved him playing ,lam so shocked and sad to hear he has passed away. I hope God likes his playing and he has a massive backing group of angels, and all the very best to you.
Nice tribute....all things seem to pass...sorry for your loss, be well! Thanks for sharing a tres cool rendition of " come together "....have never heard of him before.
I was truly shocked of his passing, so sad, such a great guitar teacher. He has influenced me so much with his guitar style which I played some of his arrangements. RIP Maestro🙏
So very sad to hear of Mr. Chapdelaine's passing.
Michael, Thank You for this tribute.
Michael and I gave a workshop together at my home in 2006 and had a great time. Miss him. He would have liked your original music.
Thanks El, he was very supportive and we had been talking about working together in the future.
Thank you for this. I studied under Chapdelaine at UNM. He had a tremendously positive impact on many. Still working to process his absence.
He was a good teacher and an outstanding player.
I live in Algeria (North Africa), I have just heard the sad news... Great loss for music and the guitar. Thank you for this tribute ♥

These are sad times in so many ways. Michael was an enormous inspiration. He will be missed. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
First Al Petteway and now Michael Chapdelaine. Sad times indeed.

A great guitarist with many interesting insights and stories. Thanks for posting.
Oh dear I’m sorry MW to hear this about such a beautiful man. Someone who played under the maestro himself Segovia
I was truly shocked of his passing, so sad, such a great guitar teacher. He has influenced me so much with his guitar style which I played some of his arrangements. RIP Maestro🙏
I just stumbled across this - I had no idea he had died. I am working on his version of Julia Florida as we speak - gutted, he was a legend.
I’m very sorry to be the bearer of bad news Peter. Michael was indeed an exceptional talent.
Well, it was a lovely tribute and I’m doubting down on my tonal efforts in his honour.
This is a shock to me. Did not realize that he had passed. 😢
I’m sorry to have been the one to let you know
thanks sorry your friend is not here with u Michael
