    They turned out beautiful!! I believe you’re dealing with laminate!! It’s made to look like wood but it really is man made like plastic!!

    Plastic like laminate. Don't know who came up with that bright idea but I've always thought it was awful! You did a beautiful job on the makeover...after a few stumbles. 😉. Happens to everyone. 😁👍💖

    Happy Independence Day! I've been just loving your vids AND your flips! SO glad I found your channel!! I'm trying to get a couple projects ready for paint before it gets too hot to move... a pair of nightstands, that are being stubborn & require a TON of sanding so idk if I can beat the heat or not.

    • @OurFurnitureFlippingAdventure
      @OurFurnitureFlippingAdventure  3 года назад +2

      When I set out to make two videos a week I forgot about the heat factor around here lol! I grew up in Canada so I’m not built for this heat 😂

      @@OurFurnitureFlippingAdventure I grew up here in Michigan, so im only equipped for this heat for about 2 weeks in August... and its been just BLAZING since the end of MAY!!! We've had some cooler days here and there, but usually those come with a ton of rain too so I've been kinda screwed this entire spring & summer!! My poor garden either gets no rain or its a lake, my grass I won't even mention, and I have a barn full of stuff I need to organize... but dangggggg... its too much!

    I’ve been a hobbyist woodworker for nearly 45 years, and I really appreciate the quality and scope of your work, mastery of tools and techniques and especially your understanding and feel for colors. I’ve built cabinets, furniture and finished/ refinished furniture for staining. I have never painted which is a good thing because I don’t have the color sense of a duck ( my wife does but she considers painting furniture an unnatural act ). Nonetheless, you and the other flippers have inspired me. Now that I’m retired after a bout with cancer I plan to turn my woodworking hobby into a business. Adding furniture flipping to it makes perfect sense given the continued high lumber prices and the cash flow you folks generate. I do have a question however. Unlike the half of Canada engaged in flipping you’re based in Texas as am I. Do you have a DBA and collect sales tax? If so do you tack it on to the final price or just fold it in as a cost? I’d really appreciate knowing because I plan to start next week. I’ve got a dedicated shop, plenty of tools and a few pieces of old furniture to start on. As for my lack of color sense, I’ve learned a lot from you and the others already. I’m also sure that my wife will help me if only to avoid embarrassing the family! I’ll continue to follow you on RUclips and the other platforms. Thanks!

      Sounds like you’ve got a good base to start! I do not have a DBA and was only doing pieces sporadically until I started this channel in May so I’m very much still figuring things out on the business side. So I can’t really give out advice on the taxes side of things. We have a tax person I will be consulting with. But always Keep good records and receipts.
      I wish you very well on your adventure!!

    It's a laminate. I want to think you can use a gel stain on the laminate and create a faux wood finish as well. Looks great.

    Beautiful!!! I love the gold detail. I may have missed it, but what stain and color did you use?

  • @ChristinaFromFlint
    @ChristinaFromFlint 3 года назад +2

    P.S. I bet thats a laminate. Gel stain seems to work fairly well in my experience. Its my very least fave finish to work on tho and I try to avoid it! If you or anyone has some tips I'd love learning tho!!

      @OurFurnitureFlippingAdventure  3 года назад +2

      Well, I wasn’t confident enough to be certain of what it even was so I need tips too 😂

      @@OurFurnitureFlippingAdventure I'm not confident at all with laminate either... Lets hope we can learn together!!! Lotsa times I pass up deals just cuz its laminate & im just uncomfortable with it.

    Out of curiosity, assuming that a perfectly safe one existed, would you attend a zoo that contained dinosaurs? We are assuming that prices are reasonable, the place would be fun and enjoyable, that it's located in your country and that it is completely safe. Comment your answer/thoughts!

      lol hmm…you know I’ve sat here and given this way more thought than I probably should have 😂 No, I don’t think I would. 1- I would still be terrified 2- the lines would be ridiculously long and I hate waiting 😄
