But, if you want a sharper image, you can use it with or without PSSR in Frame Rate Mode. That's a fair choice. So PSSR is a strange one. From my own experience it all depends on what you are looking at. With PSSR on the cars look better but the track looks more pixelated. And the opposite occurs when PSSR is off. I prefer it off because I am more looking at the road ahead than the cars. But that is just me. I feel like PSSR needs a lot of work.
PSSR has a serious issue with shadow detail. On a lot of enhanced games there seems to flickering and break up in the shadow areas. To the point it’s game breaking. Silent hill 2 just had a patch which I was hoping would fix. Unfortunately it’s done little to nothing to improve it. At the Hotel area and shadows are flickering all over the place. Even worse in performance mode. So what has the patch actually done ? I’m lost.
Was it not the goal that pssr will enable more performance .. I kinda feel pranked from sony buying the console day one and no press before talked about all the problems with pssr. Alan wake 2 , silent hill 2 , black ops 6, now this .. all have problems
Strange I don't have problem with PSSR in this game!Of course Native 4k Is better because PSSR reconstructs from a lower base resolution but from my 48 oled C1 I don't see much if not any difference at all from a normal viewing distance. But RT reflection are great in this game!
Damn GT7 PS5 pro update lookin good. Ray tracing mode is just "useless" for majority of us. Ray tracing mode is more of for those who just play occasionally and like to enjoy graphics. But for us who are playing it for competitive mode its the performance mode all the way. 4k 120 fps locked looking gorgeous. Before 4k 120 perf mode was awful. 1080p upscale it looked blurry and looked degraded in quality.
120 FPS should mean 8ms response, which would be worth it But if pssr increases that by 2ms or more you're better without it with s cleaner image at the same input lag as 90fps Imo

Have to come and correct people again. At 120hz you have raytracing with pssr or without it if you se it to raytracing mode. Without pssr it disables cockpit rt, but still is on cars body. Best raytracing you get 60fps pssr on with obviously mode raytracing. Cant uderstand people not getting this right. It reads in the graphics options what the modes do 😂 Read!
@@piotrekf943 understood. but the goal of PSSR was to improve the experience, not only in gfx, but also in FPS. IMHO. maybe the GT7 pro patch does not make sense that much....
Yes, it improves compared to the base PS5, because I play here with the standard PS5 at an average of 80 to 90 fps, and from video tests it was at an average of 100 fps and higher with PSSR activated.
Turning off pssr you lose ray tracing. You need to enable it for rt to work. Seeing others use 120 fps and expecting ray tracing to work also. It's only used in 60fps and pssr enabled. Not understanding what people are expecting. Rt is taxing and I'm playing on my g4. Yes their are some inconsistencies but as is it looks great. Improvements possibly can be done with rt but I highly doubt it.
Obviusly you loose performance when using pssr, you loose performance using fsr, dlss, taa etc. there’s no free upscaler that’s not the point. The point is hitting targets with better image quality
When I enable DLSS I am getting better performance and a better image quality . This is so far not the case with PSSR. Worse performance and worse image quality

It looks worse than the base PS5 especially in motion... They need to get this sorted out and fast because I'm about to return it.
The same thing over and over again. Better RT and slightly higher resolution at the cost of lower sharpness and unstable image. Or better image but at the cost of even lower framerate. Or double the framerate at the cost of worse settings and image quality. And sometimes the image is even worse than before and even lower framerate. And all of this for double the $$$. That's just crazy. If I wanted to mess around with settings, I would just buy a PC. And I don't even need to upgrade to a GPU that's twice as expensive. I just turn on RT and upscaling and boom, the image quality and FPS go to hell too. Why anyone would wait 4 years and pay $700 just to be able to change the settings is beyond me.
@@AdAstra78 You're funny. Sony itself said that the development of the Pro started even before the base model went on sale. So at least in 2020. It is also confirmed that game developers received development kits at least at the beginning of this year. 1st party studios most likely even earlier because they were directly involved in its development. PSSR is a major feature and is directly dependent on the new HW so its development had to start many years ago. And by the way DLSS was released in January 2019. GT7 on the base PS5 already looked great and played great. Now it is even better by the Pro. Keep the PSSR off for this game. Enjoy!
Looks like PS5 Pro makes games noisy and blurry for only 700$ + 100$ for optical drive and stand. Great upgrade. I have PS5 Pro and feel deceived by Sony. Base PS5 offers better image. Pro owners are treating by Sony as beta testers to develop and improv PSSR. I belive Sony will improve his new AI model but at this moment it shouldn't be release as 100% working AI upscaler. Now implementation of PSSR generate to many issues and makes graphics in many titles worse than on base PS5. Shame Sony!
PSSR needs to evolve. It's an AI upscaler, and if Sony keeps updating it, we eventually will see better results. There are clearly games that take good advantage of it with great results. Let's be honest about it.

Digital foundry sais that in gow ragnarok without pssr there is more detail and yes it is
I fully agree
It’s probably not using that AI bs,It’s just using the raw power of the console that’s why,It’s using more of the teraflops definitely without pssr
Simple with PSSR ray tracing seems to be enable with PSSR OFF it seems to go back to SSR on the car body itself
No. PSSR has a cost and that's pretty much 2ms and that would be in line with the performance loss you see
Hello, it would also be interesting to compare the fps with and without vrr. Thank you
Thx, waiting for the PS5 vs PS5 Pro Test for PSVR2. Play only GT7 in VR and don´t know if it is worth buy now for that the Pro
I think there is no RT reflections @120hz mode.
I’m lost.
Wait a minute... why not 60 fps RT mode without PSSR ? What were they thinking!? Why is the RT mode running at 120?
Was it not the goal that pssr will enable more performance .. I kinda feel pranked from sony buying the console day one and no press before talked about all the problems with pssr.
Alan wake 2 , silent hill 2 , black ops 6, now this .. all have problems
What backlight system are you using on your TV?
There are some micro stutter when playing in 120hz. Recommend to switch it off.
Strange I don't have problem with PSSR in this game!Of course Native 4k Is better because PSSR reconstructs from a lower base resolution but from my 48 oled C1 I don't see much if not any difference at all from a normal viewing distance. But RT reflection are great in this game!
I noticed higher LOD in performance mode.. the barrier down the end. 🤔
If you have a Standart PS5 there is no need for the PRO. Only a minimal difference between those 2!
What are your picture settings for LG ?
Now tell me how can upscaler enhance raytracing?
It looks like raytracing isnt activated on races without pssr on
Thanks a lot of your great and fast work markus this is my weekly game also supported you from day 1 keep up the great work always expect a like from me
Plus im also very dissapointed in gt7 pro patch sh2 on the other hand feels much better now but it could be me
Hi, the fps counter on my lg c3 is stuck to either 59 or 119 fps, it’s not dynamic and it seems that only presents the frequency of 60 or 120 hz. How can I solve this issue?
Thanks
Tell me your favorite combo settings for GT7 on PS5 Pro.
gran turismo?
Doesnt RT get disabled whrn not using pssr? Also using 120h disables RT, only way to get RT is fixed 60hz with pssr active, tgats how i understood it anyway
I am comparing PSSR ON vs OFF in the Fixed 60HZ mode in this video. Just the FPS test is done with 120Hz and VRR.
yo tech i can get a Lg g4 77 For 5000$ good guys what you reckon? that or a s90d 77 for 3750 but it does not have QD so i don't know what to do any advice would be nice
When you say performance mode… do you mean favour frame rate mode?
Yes, sorry
Have to come and correct people again. At 120hz you have raytracing with pssr or without it if you se it to raytracing mode. Without pssr it disables cockpit rt, but still is on cars body. Best raytracing you get 60fps pssr on with obviously mode raytracing. Cant uderstand people not getting this right. It reads in the graphics options what the modes do 😂 Read!
thats realy interesting.... i thought, that PSSR will raise up the FPS, not the opposite?!
it improve fps when you compare for example 1440p + pssr vs 4k but if you compare 1440p vs 1440p with pssr you will have less fps
@@piotrekf943 understood. but the goal of PSSR was to improve the experience, not only in gfx, but also in FPS. IMHO. maybe the GT7 pro patch does not make sense that much....
@@AlphaBandit73 imo still best mode is 4k native 120hz vrr without pssr
@@piotrekf943 confirm
Pssr on in rt mode looks awful with the shimmering
Pssr off looking good😂
i tough that pssr give more fps, not take... XD
Can you test this with 120hz off???
The side by side comparison is done with Fixed 60Hz . The FPS Test is done with 120Hz and VRR
I thought PSSR was suppose to improve the framerate.
Me to!
it improve fps when you compare for example 1440p + pssr vs 4k but if you compare 1440p vs 1440p with pssr you will have less fps
There is RT with or without PSSR but only in RT/resolution mode, not in performance.
@@82rafaaIncorrect. RT on track during races is only with PSSR, otherwise it's only in replays and photo mode.
@@DavidMartins you are wrong. Wait for DF.
@DavidMartins you're wrong. You lose Interior RT with pssr disabled. But still get car RT.
You're wrong. You still get Car reflections RT with pssr disabled.

By the looks of it without pssr it doesn't use ray tracing.
Would have been better if PS5 Pro contracted Nvidia
What happened to your music during side by sides? Having complete silence makes for a very sterile viewing.
My take, its not worth the upgrade now nor would I buy it as my first PS console, better value just going with the PS5
This testing is inaccurate. RT on track is only present with PSSR, otherwise it's only in replays and photo mode.
It's not inaccurate because I tested RT with and without PSSR as seen in my video.
Obviusly you loose performance when using pssr, you loose performance using fsr, dlss, taa etc. there’s no free upscaler that’s not the point. The point is hitting targets with better image quality
But there’s no upgrade,They all look the same or worse than a base ps5 😂it’s a scam
When I enable DLSS I am getting better performance and a better image quality . This is so far not the case with PSSR. Worse performance and worse image quality
@ your baiting has got to be better than that son 😂 very poor effort. Back to troll school 🏫 but I’m willing to give you another chance as you’re new to this….
@@neilranson4185 Stop shilling,This is a scam console mate,So let me explain ? alright. No disk drive (Sold separately),No stand (Sold separately) 70 dollar games that are sub par,Terrible AI upscaling from Sony with barely any noticeable differences from the base ps5 which is worse than the Series x btw with many many features,Costs obscene amount for what it “does”,I’m expecting 4070-4080 quality here with 30 teraflops…16 is pathetic for its price and here you are defending it.😂
@ obviously you are that’s that’s cos dlss is a 6 year old mature tech with countless improvements resulting in a better upscaler. Once pssr has had the same time and benefits as dlss it will be performing a lot better but as it is it being the first iteration on new hardware its performing better than expected and closer to dlss than was expected in higher base resolutions. Also I believe pssr has the same performance cost as dlss, 2 milliseconds
You didn't see any image quality in Ragnarok with PSSR? I saw a pretty significant difference in Ragnarok on PSSR. Don't know what you were looking at with that one my friend. . And gt7 really was promising ray tracing off of other cars. That's really what they will promise. And all you need in the racing game is 60, you can't tell a big difference at 120 from 60 in a racing game.#JESUSMATTERS!!!!
Of course you did!
@GamingTech-RUclips You're absolutely right. Of course I did. Wondering why you didn't. Oh well keep gaming and keep making good content
Pssr must be enabled for ray tracing so you will loose performance lmao
its better if they forget this crappy ussr. honestly every game suffer from shimmering and you just don't upscale from 1080p to 4k as its looks disgusting on a big screen.
I see no difference apart from a slight performance upgrade,This is 800-1000 Euros/Pounds right ? Insane
Wrong about god of war. Is it so hard to watch digital foundry?
I'm disappointed with the PS5 pro so far. Was really looking forward to this update and it doesn't look as good. There is ALOT of artifacts especially on painted road lines and fences.. It looks worse than the base PS5 especially in motion... They need to get this sorted out and fast because I'm about to return it.
Another downgrade
Give the damn thing some time. The Pro been out for like two weeks?! The cynicism is relentless...and rather silly.
But development had to start many years before. So AI upscaling has been around for about 6 years and you want us to give Sony more time? For $700, 800 Euro and 1200 AU$? Your cope is palpable. WE ARE NOT BETA TESTERS!
@@JackJohnson-br4qr 'Your cope is palpable'. Well, if you're going to resort to annoying Gen Z clichés then that pretty much negates the point of trying to have an adult conversation on the subject.
@@AdAstra78 Sorry, I'm not a native speaker and I'm not (even) 30 anymore. But you spoke like a naive child who doesn't understand how things work. That's why I used the Gen Z term to get closer to your mentality.
@JackJohnson-br4qr Yeah...nice try.
As a pro owner its not a 700 quid difference. Gt7 is disappointing
I’m was super pumped for the pro, but I have to say, this has been a massive disappointment. It would all be okay if devs just left the old modes in as options
They are punishing its fans because of Concord
I guess we'll want FSR back, I never thought to type that, but PSSR is a fail, realistically thanks to PSSR we don't feel more horsepower under PS5 Pro.
You're getting 100 fps with ray tracing and still complaining? Honestly what are we really doing here?
You shouldn't be disappointed I think. PS5 Pro is giving you near 120 fps for GT7 if you turn PSSR off. You get Ray Tracing at near 120fps. The goal of PS5 Pro was to merge quality and performance.
PlayStation need to leave AMD
Ray tracing is shit on Radeon
That’s why the series x does it so well compared to playstation ? Right ? lol ,It’s the better console by miles! Better features and has dolby vision.Hdr works better too.
i’m first papa
Hallo Fabi :-)
I really want to love this game but it’s soo boring and feels remarkably slow when driving wish they’d add some effect to create a sense of actual speed.
PSSR off, Raytracing off and the game looks incredibly good on the PS5 Pro!
(And HDR of course also off, which is unnecessary and bad for the colors)
Hdr is realistic and you get better shadow details,Contrast and more colours on the spectrum. But i can see why people prefer sdr for all content as it’s the standard,It’s usually oversaturated on QLEDS/Oleds.
@@Jza-GZa40k 90% of games simply look better in SDR, so the decision is easy!
GT7 has one of the best HDR implementations in the market. It looks infinitely better with it on. If you’re using a shitty screen that’s on you.
@GTS-Olivier Exactly, if people have a different opinion, they simply have a bad screen at home. How blind can you be when only your own ideology counts and is right!
Not impressed. I keep my ps5,no need for a pro for 1100
Gt7 was a trash, still a trash on pro!
