- Abandoned Exxon - Ross Township, Pa. Closed in May 2019, it was business as usual and then all of a sudden the place was literally abandoned. No word on why nor what will happen with this place in the future. With it right up the street from my home, I can provide updates should anything happen.

Me too. That actually startled me. I didnt expect that. That's why I just left it how I found it including shutting the door as much as I could get it to close.
So thankful for everything in life whenever I see sad sights like the one behind that door. Hope that person is in a better spot in their life now!
I agree. I felt bad walking into that. When I see things like that, I think about the few times it can be difficult for me and realize how good I actually have it. I have a roof over my head and food, although at times not much, in the kitchen. I'm not doing too bad after all.
It's like just throw those crates anywhere lol. We got stuck in a flood coming back from Alliance. That rain this summer was just crazy
Between last year and this year, it has been hell. Last year was the wettest year on record for Pittsburgh. This year wasnt all that bad but the storms that came through the area almost always intensified right over Pittaburgh dumping up to 4" of rain in a couple of hours which is just insane

It was. Many years ago. I forgot to mention it was also a Shell. It wasnt that bad then either. When it became Exxon it was nice at first. The people who ran it into the ground as you see in the video just didnt care about it.
Such a shame how the owners are just letting this go. I'm sure somebody from that farm will see this and do what ever they need to do to get those back. My Naperville videos I've done and posted in the past isn't a representation of how Naperville really is. It's a nice community and top rated, but there are areas that need cleaned up before blight kicks in and it sounds like Ross township is in the same boat. Great video as always.
Thank you. Yeah, Ross Township has better standards and places like this within the Township are very far and few between. I'm surprised they havent ordered this place to clean up yet although I see it coming. It's on the main road too so it makes it look worse. But what gets me is the car wash. Its unbelievable how bad it was inside. I'm sure if Turner's sees the video, they'll be trying to find the owner to get their property back. That is a lot of money in milk crates sitting there.

Lol sorry about that. Imagine filming and all of a sudden in the corner of your eye you see a black car pull up and a guy get out and start approaching you! Lol the Ross Township police vehicles are black so I thought it was one of them about to ask me what I was doing. Lol

Man, you guys are lucky, both for having weather where you actually get rain, we are still getting temperatures in the 90s, and for cheap gas prices. I saw a post on Facebook the other day that officially says that California, where I live, has the highest gas prices and gas taxes in the whole country, last time I looked, we are paying over $4 a gallon. Love all your videos, can't wait to see what video is next, thanks for making this video, stay awesome
The Seattle area and Chicago (Cook County) are also very high due to taxes. I remember even Hawaii and parts of Alaska had cheaper gas.

A Shell station near me was much the same way. It took a while for them to even remove the pumps, and even when they did, they just dug them up and put them off to the side. Eventually, it was demolished.
it's permanently closed and almost everthing left behind but hey thank you for another great video

At 5:58 you can see a large metal box on the side of the building. That box is a rectifier that provides cathodic protection to the tanks. If the power is off to the facility, then the tanks are not being protected from corrosion.

Thiers atleast 2 76 gas stations near me. Just recently my local circle k just got a 76 gas installed so now it's a circle k plus 76.

Nice vid, grew up close by and our family would always would get gas there, I remember it going from 76 to Shell around 2004, then Exxon several years later. I think it opened and closed a few times over the years as an Exxon , with each owner putting nothing into it. Even a year ago half of the pumps didn't work very well and the place looked pretty run down. I think at this point it is too far gone for somebody to reopen without a major rennovation... and whoever moved in would still have to tangle with the Sheetz. Im coming home this weekend and will check for the pin, but im sure it will be long gone. :)

A Chevron near where I live closed because the gas tank had a leak and they didn’t have the money to fix it. Last week I saw it had been torn down, along with the Papa John’s that was attached to the car wash.
I love your videos! Are you the Utuber who explores old abandoned Kmarts and Sears outlets? It breaks my heart! I grew up during their heyday. I miss the brick and morter stores. Anyone else agree with me?
Yeah my grandfather was like that (getting gas at one gas station he trusted) he was afraid of other gas stations having water in the tanks which is probably one reasons why they closed down from water over flowing from the creek and flooding out the place and water seeping into those old rusty tanks in the ground. Plus the place is so disheveled and run down is probably another reason why they closed or just didnt pay for the gas and left. We have two closed abandoned gas stations in Stroudsburg PA( a Gulf and a Hess) that are in pretty bad shape, either the same condition as that one if not worse. There supposed to build a new gas station where the Hess is but nothing has been done yet. Nice find.

Exxon are in the news because they are getting a lawsuit for lying about climate change. That could damage the company and cause more closures
There’s an abandoned lukoil near my house that recently closed. It closed cause the speedway next to it was doing better
Used that gas station many a time back in the day....& just paid 2.09 a gallon for gas down here in Texas..
Lucky. We're still at $2.89 around Pittsburgh. Meanwhile in Washington county, I got fuel this weekend for $2.49. Allegheny County taxes on gas is insane.

Here is why the many many ExxonMobils are closing:
In 2008, ExxonMobil, a company that Exxon and Mobil created in 1999, planned to exit the USA retail business.Since then, ExxonMobil has closed more than 2 thousand locations since 2008.Not a lot of ExxonMobil gas stations still exist.In my town, no ExxonMobils still exist.

Gas here in the bay area of California is 4:27 a gallon. noticed there was a big wasp nest at the begging of the video on the Exxon sign.
That's expensive. And yes there was a nest. I meant to mention it in the video and ended up completely forgetting to. Lol

I got gas for 2.09 this morning. Dang another closed gas station. It is amazing how much gas can range from one state to another.
I know. What's weird is I got gas in Washington, Pa on Sunday at $2.49 per gallon. In Allegheny County its $2.89 and in WV and Ohio where it's usually cheaper, it was actually more than Washington County. That was a bizarre sight.

We here in Elizabeth City NC just got a 76 gas station. Prior to that, it used to be a Marathon (which just moved across the street) and before that it was an Exxon. Someone told me that it was a Hess before that, though it was before I moved here. I don't remember the the car wash building being used even when it was Exxon!
I've lived in the same area for a little over 5 years now, this station has been changed 3 times, that I can remember! But like I said, there's competition just across the street, and then there's a Shell gas station just about a mile up the street.

Gas in North Carolina is probably the best price wise. Also 76 came back to NC and they are expensive!
The muddy creek water may have gotten into the ground fuel tanks and fixing the problem was just too expensive.

I'm not sure if that's the actual reason they closed. The place was run down to begin with and run by foreigners from the Middle East. I wonder if that has something to do with it.
@@WallieB26 with that said.....they run up all the creditors and likely never planned on paying them. Nothing can or will be done to them to pay them back. This usually happens once the no taxes after 7 years expires. Screw everybody and away they go.....smh.
I wouldn't be surprised if the owner let it go for a tax write off

Yeah, it's been some time already. I drove by there a couple of weeks ago and saw a new building being built there. It was dark already so I couldnt see the banner on the fence saying what it was going to be.

I have heard about this. The BP next door to work is run by Indians and the station manager actually admitted to sleeping on a cot in the back room which is nothing more than a narrow hallway.
I remember this place it was open in 2017 until this car wash was a former Ryko Velvet Touch Voyager That Was CLOSED YEARS UNTIL THEY TOOK OUT THE MACHINE & ENTER CODE STATION & THE OWNER WASN’T VERY VERY NICE AT ALL SO I’M NOT SO. SURPRISE THAT IS SHUTDOWN

FYI your dad sought out Amoco gas as it was the most refined gas for its time, and had a blue tent in color, speaking from experience hope this helps you figure out your dad
That car wash was in awful shape. Those car wash windows were really dirty!!!!

It did. I completely forgot to mention that in my video. It wasnt Shell too long before it became Exxon. It was Shell for only a couple of years if I remember correctly.
I wondered how long it would take you to video that since its right up the road from you.
I wanted to wait awhile since I didnt know what had happened. Didnt know if it closed temporarily or if they were going to renovate. But I finally threw in the towel and did it because this place has been lifeless since it closed.

The 76 will take over Exxon and Wallie, what happened to Exxon Ross township?
I'm not sure why this one closed. They claim it's because they're out of gas but I dont believe it. I wonder if they weren't paying bills or the vendors or fuel supplier or something. Just strange how it up and left one day without warning.
There is another Exxon on McKnight Road and that one is still open. However the owner is in some kind of trouble for an incident at another gas station they own on the North Side of Pittsburgh. So who knows if that will stay open or not.

You all do pay more than where I live, that sucks you pay more a gallon than most other states except California, they get screwed more on gas prices.
