  • Around 20 years ago to the day - the Nine Network re-introduced this game show to the Australian TV schedule as a summer time replacement for "Sale Of The Century". Lasting only the one series - this music quiz show (hosted by Richard Wilkins - himself a notable musician) had two teams battling each other to supremacy with their music knowledge. The format had a decent run in the UK some 3 years earlier. I actually think it's a great format and could easily be brought back on the screen. Enjoy this general episode from 1992 (recorded from a repeat broadcast in 2003).

    I loved watching this show back in the early 1990s. I was thrilled when they repeated the episodes in the early 2000s. It was great to see it again.

    This actually started out as a pilot from Grundy's American arm, taped for CBS in 1986; another pilot w/ celebrities was taped in 89, but neither effort got off the ground. But grundy wasn't gonna let a good format go to waste, so he exported it.

      I totally agree! I'm a musician myself and I think it would be a great revamp especially for today's generation of youngsters.

    I bet Martin, Theresa and Mark will be so happy when they watch this clip. Theresa Mark and Martin were the team that Tina and the men beat.

    I wish this show had lasted. I watched it for the only season but was too young to get the answers. I would get a lot of them now. I did get morning has broken when it was showed live though (might have been on twice).

    Just a little trivia, the winners of that episode above survived 4 nights but eventually got beaten on their final night by a team featured Les, a middle-aged man and two young women, Debbie and Sally. Also, Les, Debbie and Sally might have became the only team in the history of "Australian" Keynotes to win the major prize.
    The reason I know this information is because someone did upload like 15 episodes of Aussie Keynotes on RUclips, but unfortunately, those clips were removed due to copyright. How sad!

      And I'll never forget that moment when they won the trip to Vanuatu-- to go from hearing the sweet baritone of Les' voice to hearing the two women let out high-pitched screaming. Funny how it works out, doesn't it? :D

      It was. No wonder It was my favorite episode. What are the odds for a man like Les to be partnered with two young gorgeous women? LOL
      I have tracked down the owner of those Keynotes clips. he/she said that he/she will upload those clips again

    Looks like it uses exactly the same computer system as the UK version, as Chris Goss (oddly misspelled Chriss Goss here) is credited on both versions.

    Check the song listing under "South Pacific"; it's listed as "...Outa My Hair".
    I know it's grammatically incorrect, but that's how it was spelled in the song listing.

    FremantleMedia who bought Grundy would hold the Sale episodes. Suggested Go! Air these but no luck on their part.

    The scoring in the main game is absolutely asinine. Might as well be best of three rounds; the first round is completely pointless, & you can possibly lose the game even after winning the first two rounds. The game itself is just fine, but a $300-$600-$1200 scoring format is completely absurd.

    • @MrChevypower
      @MrChevypower 10 лет назад +2

      Don't all gameshows do that to avoid having a short episode? Also the timeout buzzer sounds a lot like the one from Sale of the Century (recorded in the same studio).

    • @JoeyLamontagne
      @JoeyLamontagne 10 лет назад +2

      But if you win 2 games, why the hell do you lose on the third game and lose the game in general. That's why the first two game should be worth the same, and every game after the first two should be double the winning of the earlier games to make it exciting! For example, the US version of Hollywood Squares had their first game as this: $250 (Marshall version) $500 (Davidson version) and $1,000 (Bergeron version) and the 3rd round and beyond was double of the round before the preceding one. But then again, we TAX all winnings.

    • @MrChevypower
      @MrChevypower 10 лет назад +2

      Joey Lamontagne Agreed, points from rounds 1 and 2 should equal points from round 3, in which case a tie is possible, but could be settled with a quick sudden death round.

      +MrChevypower That buzzer was used on Aussie TPIR, too. As well as the first few episodes of Aussie Singing Bee.
