Thanks John, enjoy your channel
Really good to hear...thanks
Thank you! you seamlessly showed myself and my fourteen-year-old I had to use the basket for first time!
That is really really good to hear!!! Glad I helped and thank yall for watching!!!!
I just got one on clearance at Walmart for $59.50 and I'm so excited to try it!
While it's off, you can press and hold the minus buttons on time and temp at the same time to turn the beeping sounds off
I DONT GIVA SHEETA
You have to put the basket in with the lid side on the left, so the rotation direction keeps it held in the locked position.
Hi Mr. John Sanders. I just bought one. Mine came with all attachments, a standard manual and no recipes. There's the app but only 26 for our Vortex. I went back to amazon and bought the 800 recipe cook book. Lordy, I hope it helps. I hope to see more recipes here. Thank you. I liked, subscribed and notification. God bless🌻
Thanks and glad I helped... thank you for watching!!!
you gotta put the lid of the basket into the end of the basket to act as a stand
there is a hole to use to stand it up!!!! Happy Fryin!!!
I just got one, and I love tis cooker! I just wish I watched your video before I spent many hours looking for Vortex Plus Recipes online that apparently d not exist! That being the case, thank you for your video! You answered so many questions the Manuel does not answer. Its like the manufacturer is messaging me to find my own way to learn how to use!
Lol... they would be good with that I think... but anyhow... I'm glad I helped and thank you for watching!!
I love the krinkle fries also. The 16 to 20 minutes at 400 is right on. I always go 18 but I think there's a window there. Most will be happy with 16 or 20 I think
I agree...fries are personal preference, some want crispy and some like soft so you have to do some trial and error but once you get that number...you got it...thanks for watching!!!
My favorite is steak fries so I go to 20 minutes.
I just got an instapot vortex and your videos have been very helpful
Glad to hear that and thanks for watching!!!
I just got the Instapot Vortex this past Christmas but had not used it until today. I wanted to cook some frozen fries init and was thankful when I came across your video on the exact fries I used. Thank you so much for this video. I am a newby but look forward to using the Vortex and watching your videos to help me. I also got the Instapot Duo pressure cooker that I used for the dfirst time this past Sunday to do a roast and it was AWESOME!! I look forward to using both of my new Instapot cookers.
Very good to hear!!! Thank you for watching!!!
Great video!! I’m making perch tonight and I’ll test my air fryer with wrinkle fries.
Thank you for taking temp. measurements. Very helpful when thinking of counter placement. Instructions mention leaving 5" both behind and above. After seeing you temp. readings, leaving 5" behind makes sense. 5" above a bit of an overkill. Keep the intelligent reviews coming :)
Very glad you enjoyed the video and hope I helped... thanks for watching James!!!
Thank you! 12 Minutes for 11 OZ works too. I appreciate this video. My first time using the basket. Woohoo!
Would love to see a rotisserie chicken in that. Keep it up jelly love the videos.
I might try that soon...thanks for watching!!
You’ve got a beautiful & huge kitchen, John. So well kept too. I’m loving it. 🥰
Thanks for the video.
Love & best wishes from Canada 🇨🇦
Thank you!! And I would love to visit your country and plan to soon!!! Thank you for watching!!!
Thanks for showing the hot air discharge. Seeing it reach 190 degrees was disconcerting. I just got my Vortex today, cooked some mild Italian sausage (overcooked!) and did it on my counter under a cupboard. Plus, the power plug was directly behind it. From now on I'll move it to an open area of my counter to cook. And now I'll get me some Ore Ida fries to cook!
I need to check out your Ninja Foodi cooks. It's early enough, I could easily switch to a Foodi...
I like the vortex but the Ninja does do a lot more...it is really versatile and I think I could do 90% of all my cooking in it...as a matter of fact...I think I am..LOL..Thank you very much for watching!!
I bought mine a week ago for $58 at walmart. I'll tell you hwhat, I liked this video and you, buddy, have a new subbie. I enjoyed this. Thank you!
Well thank you...I'm glad you enjoyed it and thanks for watching and especially for subbing!!!
I watched your video and made crinkle fries tonight! Loved them. Thank you.
His love endures forever!
Just bought this based on this review. Thank you John, you've earned a sub
your accent is so awesome and that rotating thing is so good then i dont need to turn the fries
Awesome! I was wondering about this new gadget & I love the review! So I think I'm gonna get it. Ty so much! 💜
I bought this two days ago and used it to do some potato chunks in the rotating basket. It was pain dealing with a hot hard to handle basket, crumbs everywhere, returned it. I got a beautiful new Delonghi convection oven which works better for me.
The basket is a very useful device for some unique items and I think it takes a couple of times using it to get used to it but I understand what you are saying...thanks for watching!
The hole in the lid matches with the other side of the basket so it can stand when filling the basket without putting it in a bowl
Lynne Snader , I don’t understand your statement. How can the basket possibly stand up on its own?
Well done John. Just bought one!
Glad to hear that...thanks for watching and glad I helped!!!
Great video! We are planning on trying this tonight and your video helped tremendously! Now I'm a suscriber! God bless you sir!
That is good to hear...let us know how it turns out and thanks for subscribing!!!
Love Love the way you present this recipe and the tips you have for the Instant Vortex Plus Air Fryer. Do you have more videos for different foods for this Vortex Plus Air Fryer. Such as chicken strip, chicken breasts, pork chops, etc.
just bought this type of airfrier...can't wait
This looks fun to use. But I agree with everyone else, looks like more trouble than it's worth. Hard to use and hard to clean. And it doesn't look like it'll hold 10 quarts. I think I'll stick with my 4 Foodi's. lol ............. Thanks for the great video!
Yeah..I'm leaning toward just using one of my 4 Foodi's also...Thank you for watching!!
My kitchen isn’t big enough for 4 of them, but I sure use my one a whole lot. I haven’t turned on my toaster oven in months.
I, also, bought this for the rotating basket for french fries and hash browns.
As well as appetizers and finger foods.
I saw a basket with popcorn in it. Any recipes for popcorn? Yum!
Great video! I have been watching your videos for a year now and I don’t know why I haven’t subscribed…But I just did 😁 I have a NuWave Brio 6qt air fryer and have never temped the air that comes out the back of it. But I will now just to check! Also, crinkle cut fries are the best!!!
One you need to try ,the Lifesmart 10 in one air fryer grill. It's GREAT. !
I'll have to look into that...thanks for watching!!!
I think I am hangin with the Ninja Foodi.
Yeah...I like it a lot and I actually used it today..thanks for watching
John, you are F'n awesome!!! Thanks for bringing this to us!!
Thank you Todd!!! I mean I really appreciate that... And thank you for watching!!!
@@JohnSanders I watch every video!! Keep up the great work!!!
@@toddjenest3212 thanks again Todd and I'm glad you are onboard...I have some great subscribers...that's for sure!!!
Great video! Thanks for sharing 👍🏼
Your welcome..thanks for watching!!
Great review and demo! And, I love your plaque above the mirror!
Thank you...and thanks for watching!!!
I have a thermometer with a very thin end prong. I roasted a chicken leg quarter and was able to stick it through the basket for a reading, so it's possible 😎
That is a very good idea and would work good on things like that..thanks for watching!!
I put my vortex on my island that normally sits against my wall. Thank goodness it's on wheels so I can roll it away from the wall and protect it! I didn't realize how hot it would be blowing out the back.
I just ordered one of these 10qt vortex air fryers. I'm super excited to use the rotisserie and the basket. Are there any other accessories you'd recommend for using this oven?
Haven't tried the fries yet, but am currently dehydrating some peaches. It seems to take 7 hrs! More than I thought. But it seems easy to clean...though not sure about the basket. Maybe you can pop it in the dishwasher.
Yes the basket is dishwasher safe and I usually spray it with some oil before use...just curious, did you find instructions for dehydrating in the vortex somewhere?
@@JohnSanders Nope. I have to say the instructions are pathetic. Not that putting the basket they gather was any big deal but you would expect to see some diagram.
I kinda agree and would like to see some more time tables
I had a water bottle on my counter just a little too close to the back of my Foodi, and it melted the top of the bottle. Yes, hot!
It does put out some pretty hot air!
Good review, thanks!
Hey, this guy is cool. Subscribed.
Thank you...glad to have you aboard!!!
I just bought my instant plus fryer and which no recipes. I would like to know how to do Frying Fish..not French Fries.
Exactly! I bought mine last weekend and Im at a loss on how to actually cook anything. Website was useless
Most air fryer recipes will work with some minor adjustments... hope this helps and thank you for watching!!!
I just got mine last night and feel like I'm learning how to cook all over again but so far so good! I'm a non meat eater but I love the rotisserie basket turning and the fries I did in the basket and some broccoli on the trays-both turned out well. I love my stuff more crispy than most and since this gets things crispy I am loving that part so far! The Ore Ida golden crinkle fries were what I had in my freezer and they turned out delicious! Thanks for the video and look forward to watching more of yours.
Very good to hear and glad you enjoyed the video... thank you for watching!!!
Get on RUclips search for the recipes to use this. You might find a few.
The Sur La Table Air Fryer has a vertical stand for the basket, a easy in - out for basket, and an internal light!
Double O.... Oh my goodness...you did it! I am so excited....I'll be back-had to stop to say how exciting this is.
Would you let us know if there are any smells at all with first use- if so can you estimate for how long?
Thanks~ one thing...the reason you haven't heard about my trying the FOODI out yet is because others
have said that when they first tried it there were chemical smells & I can't risk that right now...working on getting that done.
Thanks Vita Z..come on back and thanks for stopping by..
I didn't notice any smell at all..
@@JohnSanders Thank you very much.
Thank you so much for your video. Helped me out!
I hope you’re interested in reviewing June Oven and Chef IQ and the Chef IQ Wi-Fi Thermometer. Thanks friend.
rotisserie chicken......wonder where all the grease goes? and how easy it would be to clean? Lets see this video John. Was looking at this too at one point, Im pretty hooked on my Ninja Foodi thou. Thanks for sharing, I have some friends that will ike to see this.
I do plan to do that, but I am a little concerned with clean up...the door comes off so maybe that will help though...thanks for watching and hope to have that up before too long...
I made a rotisserie tonight for the first time in mine. You get a drip pan with the appliance it slides into the bottom slot. Very easy clean up. Just wipe it all down with a damp cloth with a little soap and dry with a separate cloth. The door comes off easily so you can wipe it down super easily. I love my vortex plus so far.
I made a rotisserie chicken in mine last week and lined the drip pan with foil. Almost no cleanup.
John, this one is a bit too small for my needs. Have you reviewed another oven with rotisserie option that is larger? Thanks John.
Nice demonstration. There are some Black Friday specials on this, I didn't know it existed until today. I'm looking at reviews to see what the verdict is. Now that you've had it for a few months, would you say it's a must-have or more of a convenience item?
It really depends on what you plan to do with it..I bought it for the rotisserie function but found it not to be what I expected because I like to cook 5 pound chickens...anything smaller is hard to find in my area...and 4 pounds is the maximum size that should be put in this...the basket is neat but a little hard th o clean...in my opinion...but the unit seems to function well for the other functions it does and had a decent amount of room...hope this by helps and thanks for watching!
Walmart has them for 69.99
I decided to get one. I was super excited to use it, my local Walmart said they could do same-day pickup, but I received an email yesterday stating they won't have it for me until Dec 7...seems like this might be one of the "it" presents this Christmas? I told my husband I wanted it so it's my early Christmas present 😆
Fantastic review as usual 👍
Thank you Abigail... glad you enjoyed it and thanks for watching!!!
Thank you for your video.
Your welcome...Thank you for watching it!!
Thank you ... vortex did not show me how to use the rotating rotisserie basket the video that they said I needed to watch with big caution all over the place was removed
Hey there Mr Sanders...I just got my Instant Pot Air Fryer over the weekend and I absolutely LOVE it !! I cooked the best ribeyes , baked potatoes, and garlic bread in this thing we have ever had at home...and at a lot of restaurants. I was searching for recipes and came across your channel. You'll be my go to from now on !! We live in Surfside Beach SC , but my husband and I both are from Chatham County, NC. Your accent sounds familiar. Are you from NC ?
I'm actually from Georgia... glad to have you on board!!
Video by a Good ole boy!!!
Thank you!!! And thanks for watching!!!
Is it good quality construction? We don’t eat fries 🍟 love them but not on our diet. Would love to see how it cooks other items like wings and what else???
Yes, I feel the construction is solid and seems to be well built, fries on the other hand I usually do from frozen and that is usually done in the foodi but I might try some fresh in it before long..thanks for watching!!
JR Moritz ....I’ll do wings🧡❤️💛
My lid does not tighten on the basket. Is it supposed to?
Did it smell the first time? Mine had such a strong smell.
Check the instructions. Doesn't it say NOT to preheat when using the rotating basket?
Sprinkle some Old Bay seasoning on those fries, you will have salt and the spices of God to enjoy.
That does sounds good!! Thanks for the tip!!!
I can’t live without Old Bay. Great for all meats, vegetables as well as quite a few other things.
I got a question would you recommend the Vortex or the vortex plus? I plan on using it for mostly meal preps. Would be nice to do more
I like the vortex 6 because it does what I need but the plus will do more quantity...I just wasn't as crazy about the rotisserie (no 5 pound chicken) as I thought I would be and that was the reason I bought it...but both do good with air frying...hope this helps and thanks for watching!
I love mine
Just got one. It's too big to store under my cabinets. I have low cabinets. I didn't think it was Soo big online. I have to find a place dedicated just for this oven. What salt did you use on the fries 🍟? It looked like sand you sprinkled over them.🤣😂❤️✌️
I usually use Jacobsen salt... the unit is a little tall...thanks for watching!!!
I just tried 16 minutes at 400. 😋😋😋 perfect
Do they offer replacement parts on the website??? I heard they have plastic parts inside the oven... Is there an heating element on the bottom or just the top???
I am not sure... you might try instant pots website...thanks for watching!!!
Rotation lasts about 3 weeks and then it gets easily chewed up. Aside from this terrible flaw it works great. Either go light on the basket or don't use that feature imo
I enjoyed this demo! Have you received information on the Instant Pot Vortex Pro? Any advantages over the Plus?
I do not know anything about that particular unit... maybe someone reading can answer better... thanks for watching!!!
John Sanders with the Meater which Meater model do you recommend for monitoring inside a Vortex Plus
great vid thank you for putting so much effort
Your welcome and thank you for watching!!
Can u do a list w common foods w time n degrees ty
The only down fall on these Vortex ovens there is not a on and off switch I'm always plugging in and out
Probably not a bad idea though..and some of the newer devices can be accidentally turned on rather easy and they can get pretty hot if shoved against the wall, but I agree it would be nice to have a switch that was illuminated or something when power is on...thanks for watching!
@@JohnSanders Always love love your videos
@@jersey4780 thank you and thanks for watching!!
I want to make my own fries
I love mine
It does a good job...thanks for watching!!!
Instruction book and website were useless. Was ready to return it until I found this sitem
Glad to hear I helped...thanks for watching!!!
John
Great video. What do you recommend for a newbie Instant Vortex Plus or bucket style fryer? Never had air fryer before. Priority is frying but I like the rotisserie on the instant too(can do too many things). Which one is your favorite bucket/bowl style fryer.?
Thanks! I’ve got one of those…
How do you take the door off ?
I actually gave this unit to my niece and nephew but I think I covered that in one of my videos... but I honestly am not sure I did... but I feel positive someone has...I hope this helps but if not let me know and I will look into further... sorry for lame answer but thank you for asking me...
Where do you but it? I cant find it.
I ordered it from WalMart.com...thanks for watching!!
Did you get more fries in this or in the ninja foodi grill and air fryer. I'm having a hard time choosing between the two.
I would say the grill would hold more but I've never actually compared them... hope this helps and thanks for watching!!!
@@JohnSanders thank you, I decided to buy the ninja foodi pro!
@@mariahh8412 i was going to buy the ninja too but i just decided to purchase this one, the ninja seems way better cause seems it has lil bit more space but i was out of budget, the ninja was lil bit more expensive but still i love my instant fryer i cooked some fried fish and don't even have to use oil and it's more healthy and less calories, i felt the difference when i used to cook fried fish with oil vs air fryer, and i can tell it wasn't too heavy to my tummy after i done eating my fish than when i used to cook with oil, i can barely eat it before and not finish eating lol, i highly recommended air fryers if you are interesting in eating healthy and less calories 🤔
Sounds to me you are full of hot air! I'm still on the fence of getting an air fryer. Informative video. I think I may be more on the not getting one side of the fence. Maybe you can move me back over with future videos.
I do like the foodi design over any other I've ever had..thanks for watching!!
You’re missing the boat. You can do hot dogs on the stove and pizzas in the toaster oven, so you think, why do I need something else. But the hot dogs are better in the air fryer and so are the small pizzas. Then you realize the hot dogs are better than ever when you toss the buns in to toast for the last two minutes. Then you realize that a piece of cheese melted on the bun in that two minutes isn’t anything you ever had before. Then you realize you can melt that cheese over some sliced onions two. At some point you look backwards and realize how you have suffered your whole life before this came along.
It does have many uses!!
I'm on the fence with this one. How many watts? Can you clean it thoroughly, not just wipe it out? I had a George Foreman rotisserie and it was less than user friendly.
Can you do the same amount of fries in the Foodi, in the same amount of time?
I considered putting the foodi up against it in this video but changed my mind at the last minute. I have used the foodi for fries before and I honestly like what it does much better...Thank you for watching!
@@JohnSanders #teamfoodi
I love that!!
I have read some reviews that said it smelled horrible and food tasted bad like burnt plastic. Can you comment on that.
I don't remember this oven having that problem...thanks for watching!!!
Air Fryer World is helpful site. Many recipes that you can print out. Recipes cooking time charts have mistakes or lack of details. Frozen food companies are behind and do not have cooking times for air fryer.
Do you still own this air frier? Which is your pick for a family of 4?
How long for fresh cut fries?
I haven't those in this yet but I plan to... hopefully soon... thanks for watching!!!
Do you like the Vortex better than the Breville?
I have to honestly say it does not compare with the Breville, a lot cheaper though...the Breville still stands as the undisputed champion of toasters at my house, I use it more than I use my fairly expensive Frigidaire Gallery double connection wall oven...the Breville ain't cheap but it sits outside my house in a covered area and does many items that does not require heating up my house...(they ain't paying me either, just my honest opinion) and it does it very well...Thank you for watching!!
Hey John, where did you get the potato slicer in the video?
I have had a few of them over the years and quite honestly I purchased the last one on EBay..they are a wonderful item to have if you like fresh cut French fries...Thank you for watching!!
Have you tried fries on the basket-weave tray instead? I’ve seen some other youtubers doing it that way.
Yes,I have a video on that..
ruclips.net/video/ug2kHjT6K0Q/видео.html
just bought vortex plus 10 air fryer oven and first time use it, turn
out it takes 6 min. to pre-heat. it's normal or defect the
unit?
Depending on how hot of a temp you are requesting that is probably ok... but really hard to say and I gave this unit to my niece and nephew and cannot test... maybe someone reading can actually verify... hope this helps and thanks for watching!!!
What is the stand you have for your screen?
Something I found on the internet awhile back... it works really well but I don't remember the name of the website... thanks for watching!!!
is that an app or a device? please answer.
Not sure what you are referring to...
With my air fryer all I have to do is pull the basket out and dump the hot crispy food on my plate. This is way too much work.
I'm kinda on the same page,a little too many things to do...thanks for watching!!
Cyko ....what air fryer do you have?
John you know I'm a big fan of you and your channel, but I don't know about this one. I'm speaking about the 3 bowls, all the items you have to have with this thing just to heat up some french fries. I don't know about this one buddy.
Yeah...not gonna lie..the foodi does French fries way simpler and the fact you have to pull the basket and open it to test doneness it might have limited used for me...thanks for watching Lew.
what do u call the yellow thing
That is a Thermapen... it is a instant read thermometer.
hey john so much salt you got there but love you for sharing ❤
Can I do ribs in that. I just got mine today...
The light turns on @ the 30 second mark
How much please but in uk pound
Can you air fry wings in that basket?
I never tried that...I used the air fry basket and that worked very well ...thanks for watching!
Yes you can-Having it in the basket allows you to skip flipping them over that you would have done if you used the trays
what kind of salt ya got there?
I use Jacobsen and I have their flake and sea salt... along with a few other of their products...thanks for watching!!!
