I can't tell what they are harvesting. We have those bad boys here in Minnesota USA. The farmers tell me they love the tracks, and the rear wheel assist. I am enjoying your channel.
I enjoyed watching this video, along with some others on your channel. I had never seen anything outside of corn and soybeans being harvested (we are in the US). My husband is the one that grew up on the farm and is a "RUclipsr", so I am sure he has seen it all, but I just was on here and saw this in a suggested video....neat to see all the different equipment being used all over the world. Thanks - Heather.
I realize this is 4 years ago lol but this is a great video. And that big S690i is a massive monster of a machine. I absolutely loved watching it in action.
LOL...No, but use it in everything else ! Have used for 40 yrs, have never had a lube failure in anything ! Tractors, cars, mowers, trucks, even for bar oil on the chainsaw ! Guess could put some Penetro on the zoom tho !
Absolutely a great machine. I like the design and engineering of the header. Your video efforts are really good and for once its so nice to watch a farm video without any music. The sound of this combine is music.
+tobacco72 Thanks a lot for your positive feedback. Nice to read that you like it. Meanwhile I recognized that most of the users want to see the videos without music.
Really a monster combine, nice video. Just a question, why don't you use a spreader instead of the moveable vanes in order to have a better coverage ? That header that you use perform better than a Drapper, ( less grain losses and more ha/hour). And the last one, what is the fuel consumption per hour or per ha. Thanks a lot and keep loading videos !!!!!!
It's whole different critter than the old JD 55-H's I used to operate on my cousin's wheat ranch. We had 14' headers and thought they were huge then. Ha! The next big thing was hillside levelers, and we didn't have to worry so much about falling off the side hills ...unless we blew a front tire while fully loaded (top-heavy). All the newer equipment these days were stuff of dreams back then. We had platforms but no enclosed cabs, so liked to have choked to death on the dust boiling up off the header even with dust masks. A/C and radios were unheard of and it might have taken two to three days to cut a section of 600 acres if something didn't break, plug up and otherwise stop cutting.
This is what us virtual farmers loves, real farmin' and no- god damn awful music banging away over the top of it. We's loves to hear the real sounds of the engines etc. Now, if you could just bag some of the country smells - cow-dung and rape-seed - perhaps a few diesel fumes, we're in heaven.. Don't forget the ploumans lunch with cheese and ham sarnies, blathered in sweet-pickle and a pint-o-cider to wash it down.. Farmer-George
So there are several parts to what is happening that I don't understand. I'm an oil man not a farmer. 1) The rotating black portion at the top of the harvester is for what? Just to guide the product into the auger? a. Also is it raised and lowered to the height of the crop being harvested? 2) The clippers on the outside serve what purpose exactly? Doesn't look like they're doing anything of substance in the video.
Answer to the first question .. It drags the stalks up to the cutting bar and keeps them in place so the auger doesn't block up every 20 yards - the cutting bar is like a hedge trimmer and it's at the very bottom of the header
+Joseph Abraham The RHS cutters don't look like they're doing anything, but the LHS ones in the crop are working, if they change direction, the RHS ones will be working.
monsterchannel24 Thank you. Now I am embarrassed because it says that in the description. I did not realize rape was a crop. I further found that oil is extracted from this rapeseed which makes the Canola oil I cook with. Very glad I saw this video. Gives me a better appreciation for what it takes to provide cooking oil.
in rice somethimes u cut the whole thing because it will get so heavy it just falls over, so the machine is inches from the dirt nd u need the fingers to grab the rice nd lift it up. really really slow lol
michelle grone there is a relatively new farmer in Skohegan, Maine using an old Ford tractor pulling an all crop I think the name is harvesting his wheat paid $600 for it has a total of 600 acres, wheat is milled in Skowhegan then baked in Skowhegan using mostly the French way of baking large rolls and bread rolls mostly organic farmers the all crop has about an 8 foot head. Farmer would like a bigger combine but that's what he can afford and says " I can fix anything that goes wrong with it " saw the farmer on the tv show chronicle WCVB TV BOSTON. Titled Maine bakery's. If you want to look it up online. Oh yeah the mill is built in the old Skowhegan jail which the owner bought for $65,000!!! Jim Derry, New Hampshire
He was cutting the end rows off of the field so he could turn around properly without putting the head or auger in the trees surrounding the field or driving onto the road
TKS for the info. I'll try to do some research on this. It looks like Europe, but I can't be sure. I never thought about where canola comes from but since I use the oil, it would be nice to know.
+Rusty White According to a comment by the uploader it was filmed on the island of Fehmarn in northern Germany. I don't know if canola is exactly the same but in German the the crop is called "Raps" ;)

So is the top spinning portion doing anything or just up out of the way for soybean?
+Nineunbuffed Yes it helps pull the plant you are cutting into the head to be processed. Also this is not soybean its rape ( canola).
