I love the Le City Mini Bag but mine is a dupe I have covered in charms. It looks just as beautiful as a real one and my charms are fun. The fact the dupe looks about as good as the real one makes the price of the real one seem ridiculous. I do not understand paying a brand thousands of dollars for something I can enjoy for less than one hundred. For me it's about style, and I don't understand why sweatshop labor products sold by "luxury" brands are superior to sweatshop labor dupes and "fakes," a word which I find carries with it a very different meaning when referring to a piece of clothing.
I'm very open to people being honest on this channel. I like to respect people's opinions and we should all be free to make our own choices and for that respect to be mutual. I love buying designer bags, you prefer dupes. We're all different thank goodness or the world would be a very boring place 🌏
Sounds like my situation. I put a Chanel 19 on eBay for 4000. It was 2 years old excellent condition. People were offering 2-3000. I took it down sold it to fashionphile for 3600. It’s crazy out there now.
Hi Kate. I assume you're quoting $US, blimey even 4k was cheap. The price you got from Fashionphile was the same if you'd have sold it on Ebay because of the seller's fees etc Even so it's a very low price. I'll see what this other consignment store thinks about price but if it's as low as the other I'll keep it (The Chanel tote) until the market picks up 🙄 🤞
Yes I agree quite low but I’m willing to be kind and give someone a deal. I like my bags that move on to be loved by someone. Good luck on the Chanel dear
I wanted to thank all of you for your suggestions re the purple bag. I think you've made me brave enough to try and sort it out myself. I'll keep you updated 💜
Hi 👋 Kaz sometimes we just have to vent, I think you just need to find the right market to sell your bags. The purple bag I’m sure you could find an aftermarket strap to use if you don’t want to cut that piece off. But I think if you like it enough to keep it’s for a while cut it off. Maybe take it to a cobbler and they can just snip it professionally off and fix it to where it can be put on and off and you have best of both worlds. Good luck 👍 👛🛍️🚢🦆🙏
Thanks DeeDee I certainly needed a rant amd I feel better now I've got it out of my sytem. I'm going to try and take the thin strap off from one end then I'd be able to slide the wide part off. I'll give it a go anyway because I love the bag, the colour is just 💜
Hi Kaz, ✂️ cut the thing off, 😂 if your 100% sure it will be your weekender bag! The color is unique and make the bag work for you. I'm one that mixes different straps with my bags. They have to be functional ( and pretty) specially for us with dexterity issues. 😊 Having said that, I know you made up your mind about the Row bag, but listening to you describe the leather from that bag, I was drooling and inlove with it. KEEP THAT BAG., please. She's perfect and I think it's one easy to dress up and down. Smart bag for an even smarter lady. But I understand you made up your mind 😢 Don't understand why nobody bought that CC tote in jeans.? Strang market, I hope it finds a good home. As always, a bientôt mon ami. Take care❤
Hi Eli, exactly, it's the dexterity issue, I can't hand hold it. I've tried different straps but the hardware is such a unique colour that just the differences in h/ware triggers my OCD 😅 The Row bag has to go she needs to be used, it's too nice a bag to just sit in a cupboard. I know, I thought the denim would sell the Chanel bag, you take care too 🥰
I think you should sell the Balenciaga bag as is, but maybe a bit later? It is a beautiful colour but the fact you even considered potentially selling it in future tells me that it may not be your forever bag. Perhaps hang on to it for another 6 months, and keep using it meantime, with that wide shoulder bit pushed to the back, or top handle or crook of the arm, and see how much you enjoy, or get frustrated by, it. I would not cut off any part of the bag, just in case you decide to sell it eventually.
Thanks Corrine, I appreciate your thoughts. I think the colour will always 'grab' me so if I can sort out the shoulder strap I'm sure I'd keep it. Handbags can be so frustrating sometimes can't they 😅
Kaz!!!! I love that beautiful Balenciaga bag!!! I’ve never owned one but I have the same issues with shoulder bags!!! Consider putting a different shoulder or crossbody strap on it…wear it and then decide to cut it off or sell it. I’m sure there are many people like us who can’t wear a thick shoulder strap…. Let’s see what happens…I’m in the midst of preparing for the 2nd major hurricane in 2 weeks…completely missed my birthday…maybe I will be interested in purchasing it…later. Enjoy your birthday and have a piece of cake for me!!!!💗 😮Maybe I need to start looking for waterproof bags!!!!😮
Hi Cori, It is really beautiful isn't it. I don't think I could bear to part with it, the colour is just everything 💜 So sorry you missed your birthday, a Happy Belated one. The 2nd hurricane in 2 weeks, that's just crazy! Do take care! I'll have a piece of cake for you, thank you 💖
My dear kaz, I have the Balenciaga City bag 1 size larger than yours and it works for me that I can get my shoulder through the hand straps (that worked well for me and then it sits quite high. I'm of the opinion that it was big back then too There's no shoulder strap at all. Otherwise, The Row is a dream but I can understand that it's not your bag handle - I've also found one from The Row that suits me (possibly the Bindle bag), let's see - greetings Ralf 😘
Hi Ralf, thank you. I think now I've got the rant out of my system I'm determined to find a way to take the wider bit off, hopefully without cutting it 🤞
Maybe a pursemaker or a cobbler would know how to remove that piece from the Balenciaga shoulder strap. I guess the safest way would be undoing the stitching holding the hardware on one side, then sewing and glazing it back again?
If I could find a good cobbler that would be a good idea, but the only ones I can find in Sydney are those pop up stores in shopping centres amd they're not always that good unfortunately. I might have a look at it and see if I could undo it and resew. I used to make leather bags years ago but I didn't have this bloomin; arthritis then. Definitely food for thought though, thank you 🥰
Cutting the purple strap off won’t make it any easier and if you try to resell it later it would not sell well. I do wear mine crossbody as well. It’s a little short but I’m petite and it works in a pinch.
I totally agree about resale value but I'm pretty sure I won't be selling it. I don't wear any of my bags crossbody I find it uncomfortable, wish I didn't because it's very practical 💜
It's in the spirit of Balenciaga to cut the strap. Make it your own. If you sell it later sell it as is or without the strap. I on a few occasions have cut the strap off LV bags and I had no issue selling them. Of course I took a hit when reselling but I consider that cost minimal in the scheme of things.
@@5ftNothing Oh dear... I was thinking of your resale when recommending the other way no snip!!. Things are harder than they were so I wouldn't go off reselling LV bags from before. JIMO I better shut up this is getting obsessive of me!
Don’t cut it off yourself take to a leather worker and have them remove it by removing the clasp and then if you decide to sell you could have it put back on ?
I used to make leather bags and I have tried tgo take the clasp off (I have all the right tools) and there doesn't seem to be a gap in the clasp. It looks like the leather was sewn on over the hardware. Hope that makes sense. I think I'm going to undo the sttiching on the narrow strap take the hardware off slide the wide piece off and sew sit back together. Glazing might be an issue but I'm 'sure' I can sort that 🤞
The Chanel: a buyer could easily add a shoulder strap and clip it to the hardware loops. The trick might be doing this for them, finding a strap with this hardware colour and include it as part of the deal. A chain with denim loop added at the top of the chain. Get a dressmaker to include a quilted denim pad on this chain it will be great. You do need to be tall to carry it off it is a bit overwhelming on you as a shape and size. You need a bag that hugs your body and is less structured like a hobo, or your Balenciaga City, this one is not your cup of tea . JIMO. The Row: OMG keep it! You just need to wear the right stuff with it, casual denim would work really well but make sure it's a bit tailored or shaped. I'd add a twilly scarf in a casual tie or add a charm to it to give it a more causal whimsical look, and be less businesslike. The colour is so NOW I would not get rid of it. Clearly you love it and it's not overwhelming you in size at all. If they offer you great money for it ok. But to me it's a big nup to sell it. The Balenciaga City: Wearing slippery fabric doesn't help. Wear linen with it no silk. I'd put some grippy fabric on the underpad of the strap and it will work. Get a dressmaker to put a discreet black fabric felt pad on the pad, and not stitch or glue it to the leather, but instead make loops that go through the gaps and tie it that way. This will not be visible but it will help it grip. DO NOT CUT THE LEATHER!!! Mon Dieu! Sacre Bleu! Keep it too, you love it. It's casual and yet it's also put together. I love it too but I already have a purple bag in that colour and it's a similar size. Mine's a Bally in lizardskin and it's got a wonderful way of moulding to my body and fitting whatever I need in it... So out of 3 that's only one sell recommendation. Sorry!
Thank you Deborah, I appreciate all your comments. You really made me smile, in the nicest way of course. I am a dressmaker, well, a tailor really. I used to be in charge of the wardrobe department of quite a large theatre. The top that I was wearing that the Balenciaga kept slipping off was 100% cotton, I've tried it with all fabrics and it's the same it's just that my shoulders are particularly narrow. I just adore the colour and although it is too big for my frame it's a great weekend away bag. I think I'm going to undo the stitching, slide off the wide strap, resew it (at least the holes are alrady there to sew through) and re-glaze if necessary. I just haven't done anything like that for years and I just needed the confidence that all you guys gave me to really think about it and decide to fix it myself. The Row will have to go sometime and that's a very good idea about the boy tote but then I'd probably end up keeping it. There's no hope for me 😂 BTW I adored your comment, thank you so much. You made me smile on a particularly miserable rainy day 🥰
Preloved market is over saturated .. any new release comes lands on preloved market in less than few days Plus fakes have taken over the internet .. Wats the point of buying expensive bags ? I can’t tell difference between fake and real any more
That's a fair point you're making but I've been buying desinger bags for over 30 years and I have never bought a fake because I can tell the differences between them, even with the super fakes. They always make at least 1 mistake.
I agree regarding the current designer (Demna Gvasalia) and management but this was a bag before their time. This bag was F/W 2009 designed by Nicolas Ghesquière 💜
It's the overall economic downturn that has almost destroyed the preloved market. People are spending less on discretionary items which is the sensible thing to do 🥰
Hi Darklin, I don't a different strap would look right. Thank you, I'm thinking cutting it off is the way to go because I won't every want to sell that bag the colour is too gorgeous 💜
Hi Kaz! The algorithm suggested this video and i gotta say WOW!! Great video! If you can't rant here, then where can you??! Rant away. You seem to love the Balenciaga so keep it and remove the piece. Its a gorgeous bag and very versatile. Have a cobbler remove it and enjoy that beauty.
Hi, good to have you here and I'm so pleased the algorithm did the right thing 😅 I'm going to keep it and try and fix it myself. I used to make leather bags and I still have some of the tools left. So, keep your fingers crossed for me please 🤞
I find that when the Balenciaga city is full and packed with items it’s more comfortable on the shoulder because it’s not as puffy at the top of the bag. Also the more you break it in the easier is lays.
