@@retroimportgamer513 yes dude the psu fix is great. I had to do mine a while ago as my DC was resetting on me after 2 hours of play and it smelt so bad as soon as you turned it on. It’s such an easy fix and I think it’s good not to have the power pack inside the console with all the heat they give out

Very nice, the PSU issue you had was due to the pins on the PSU they oxidize over time and thus dont make a great connection, so cleaning them and reseating the PSU used to be the 1st method.
It's been playing up a while but I haven't got around to doing anything about it so chuffed it's sorted, absolute doddle to do aswell and pretty cheap Cheers Stu👍

Yes I think it makes perfect sense of you have any old console that's yellowed to swap to one of these new shells, much better than a dirty looking original 👍

That's a nice result. Be careful handling the old PSUs, the large capacitors close to the mains input can still hold a high voltage until they're discharged.

Over time they will yes. Modern power supplies will have a resistor on the board to discharge them. I can't remember for these. If you don't have a use for the old one btw I can put it to use, give you something for it.
Nice bit of modding , blue is my favourite colour so I approve wholeheartedly, as tooty said the resetting is such an easy fix and I've used it right from bitd on my own dc after it started doing it , I was really chuffed mending it . Now that case it very nice. It's so good that people make replacement parts for old systems like these. I do like to keep things as original as possible...I'm playing a lot of 360 at the moment and using a halo reach ltd edition console...but the console I used as a kid was the glossy black one. So I keep thinking of boxing the reach one away just to get that more intense nostalgic hit.....I've got a problem I know 😅😂

I switch my DC into a clear shell, though I went with a smoke grey shell. I did it with my Japanese system which has a GDemu in it. Though I’m thinking I may get a second shell for my PAL system as it’s a stock system which I can use to play my discs on if needed. If I do I think I’ll go for black shell. Though on a side note I’ve got a shell for PlayStation, SNES and US SNES in my Ali basket. The latter will replace my VERY poor US SNES shell. The plan is to get all black or dark coloured systems in my setup.
To be honest I've half wished I'd bought a clear or smoked shell, I could obviously change it easy enough but do like the blue so no big pain I am really tempted to get the SFC one purely due to the fact they have the universal slot to take USA carts but can't bring myself to change the original shell as think it's the best looking console ever probably and it's in lovely condition First world problems 🤣👍

Them shells are a steal from Ali 16bits&bobs express…is it true Make the Pal look different from the Japanese,good idea. Looks sweet that dude and hopefully the intermittent fault is cleared with the dream psu 🤠
They definitely are and they are getting gerfy quality too Definitely like it looking different, just not sure whether it's better with the grey controller surround or blue So far so good on the power. Cheers mate 👍

It's a shame them new PSUs need an external wall mounted adaptor, suppose it's easier to have it that way than have it all internal gubbins like the originals - I do like the fact the originals could work direct from the mains (if in the correct region of course) although if you need a step down it makes for just the same hassle which this would remove I guess 🤷♂️.

@@retroimportgamer513Check the VA model of your DC Motherboard online beforehand James. Thinkn VA1 and VA2 revisions are simple GDEMU mods, VA0 ie. the early DC models mostly with metal fan housings are VA0 and need more work?!? 😎✌️
its smaller as its meant to have a laptop psu thats external instead of the laptop psu internal which matches the size. the plug these come with are really unsafe sadly

Worth trying cleaning up the contacts that link the PSU to the power board - them pins that stick up on your DC mobo (@Mr Birdzone) James.
