Dreamcast is my all-time favorite console. I had almost every major game and accessory for it. I went all in for the system and i don't regret it one bit. Best memories to play Bass Fishing with my Father for days... he speak about it to this day how great it was.
I figure I will look into HDD or SD card options when my laser finally dies (same with the Saturn) but until then I'm good with burning discs. I just got a StrikerDC Wireless controller from Retro Fighters and it's amazing. Now I'm just waiting for my Bitfunx component cables to show up and I will have a sweet setup on either one of my component CRT's or HDTV with my upscaler.
@jamesburchill7522 but there is also no point in replacing a drive that is working. May as well use it until it had issues and then invest in a new option.
I recently hooked up my old dreamcast, which worked perfectly back in the days. But 20 years later it struggled with reading game discs. Also took out my old xbox classic and the dvd rom was already dead. So the GDemu is currently the way to go (also i dont have any cd drives in my pc these days). Good video.
DreamCast is one of my all time fave consoles ever. So many great games and emus to use on it. The first console to surpass better than arcade gfx. First game i played was day 1 sonic adventure, also code veronica is a classic in my opinion. Wicked upload Wicked. Now im off to play games and get hammered to see in 2024. Happy new year to everyone.
Get a GDEMU clone. The games load a lot faster PLUS it help speed up the ingame level loading in things like Half Life and the extraordinary long normal loading in Soldier of Fortune, now just a few seconds instead of a minute plus.
There are certainly some hidden gems on the Dreamcast, in recent years some indie titles developed for the Dreamcast started to appear and there are some Atomiswave homebrew ports.
The Problem the Dreamcast had was that SEGA only ever marginally advertised its Internet capability. If SEGA had gone full Throttle from the Start and Advertised the Internet capability more, i.e. put more Focus on it, the Dreamcast would have gone through the roof. Especially since it was the first Internet capable Console on the market.
I think Sega just gave up way too early with it. Nintendo has had poor selling consoles before like Wii U, but they do seem to stick with it right to the end, not rushing anything out or making rash decisions to try and salvage some sales. The Virtual Boy is the only one exception I can think of right now where Nintendo ditched it fast and moved on. Sega was skipping forward well too fast from the x32, Saturn, and Dreamcast. I guess customers weren't confident in Sega's ability to stick to one thing for long enough. Dreamcast had everything except a DVD player. It should of done better for what it had, because it was genuinely excellent.
Between that, the fact you could easily pirate the games, the PS2 was a vastly superior product, putting a strain on the DC's market and the hair brained idea to go with that PowerVR GPU, rather than 3DFX, which would've been easier to port titles to and from pc at the time, not to mention easier to code for altogether.
Look up the deal Microsoft had with Sega, Sega didn't get everything in writing and Microsoft pulled support for the Dreamcast right when it launched. Waited for it to fail, hired the guy who ran the Dreamcast. The original Xbox was the Dreamcast 2.0.
The reason there is no sound by certain games is that the are old iso's. Back in the day the DC games where to big for a standard CDR so thing where removed like music and FMV;s, later they downgraded that to make it all fit on a disc. Also it can be a loader problem, i remember that vaguely. Nooit een Dreamcast gehad, paar keer naast gegrepen, en staat hoog op me verlanglijstje alleen niet voor de hoge prijzen waar ze nu voor weg gaan.
My first console would have been a Super Nintendo Entertainment System and we had a PSONE around the same time, earliest memories like 4 years old probably year 2001 in Australia
I still have my original NES & SNES. But, I got out of gaming until about 10 years ago when and I got out my old systems and bought the ones I never had. N64, SDC, PS2, AES, etcetera. Right now I have my Fenrir equipped Saturn connected to my Sony PVM. I love retro gaming.
Será que soldar embaixo, dos chips de memória, a mesma quantidade de memória, dobraria a capacidade de memórias do Dreamcast, transformando o em uma Naomi?
Even if possible, it would likely cause problems due to the non-standard amount of RAM, and most games wouldn’t benefit from it as they were designed with original RAM in mind….only modern homebrew would benefit.
Dreamcast was my favourite console and still regret selling it. I had it at the same time as the PS1. I still have my original X Box and recently bought a few games that I never got to play in the past..
My first system that you can actually change the games (we had a pong box) was a Fairchild Channel F. Part of me wishes someone would make a mini version for modern TVs but I doubt there'd be a huge market for it. :D
@@Teknikfrik ikaruga, Mars Matrix, Street Fighter Alpha 3, Jojo Bizarre adventure, Guilty Gear X, Marvel vs Capcom, Garou Mark of the Wolves, Street Fighter 3: Double Impact Street Fighter 3: Third Strike, Super Street X, all the KOF, the last Blade 2, Capcom vs SNK, Gunbird 2 and so many more…
I just bought a DC Console Bundle with 2 controllers, 2 Memory cards and the Fishing Pole and it costs me $228.00 with Delivery and it makes me Sick because around 2007 I was seeing them stacked on Goodwill shelves for around $10 bucks!!!
My first system was a radio shack electronic scoreboard game. It had five or six versions of Pong and a couple skeet games using a 6-shooter shaped light gun. Then the next year I got an Atari 2600
my first system was a sega saturn someone gave me it was epic the game store i took it to get it fixed had 4 games that let me check out 1 at a time like a library they were very cool
I bought a Japan white Saturn modded sd cannot remember the name of mod now it plays all regions but I expected it being emulation that some games would have issues like not loading or here and there sound cutting out and then coming back but it's emulation so I expected it not to be 100 percent perfect I love it though considering how expensive original games for Saturn a pretty expensive
oof, looking at the prices for a modded unit, pretty brutal! I've got 2 of the older units that play burned discs still, hopefully this tech will get cheaper if and when the drives start to fail. I've got 4 OG XBOXes with dead DVD drives, hopefully we'll see a way to replace the optical drives in those rather than do a pain in the ass soft mod?
🎄⛄🎁🎅 All the best for New year 2024! P.S. What is your opinion about number of views in the latest weeks? Me, I observe much less viewers. Is that the same on your channel?
To me an HDMI mod is useless because the console needs a CRT to look good because the resolution looks so bad on a 4K TV. Increasing the native resolution to 4K with an emulator is a 10x nicer solution for a modern TV.
Get a sd card adapter so much easier or get Dreamcast with one already in and you don't need a package from China if it doesn't work you'll get the runaroud from China be warned
The Dreamcast was such an awesome system.

I still like the old fashion way of burning discs 🤣
Yeah that is kinda of a naughty novelty 😆

Still play mine every week
My first system was the Atari 2600!😁 Christ I'm old!😭 But I began seriously collecting with the NES. Good project and cool video Wicked!👉🙂👈
I totally skipped the Atari 😅😆
@WickedGamerCollector I had a lot of fun with it and friends back in the day but I can't go back to it.🤔
Hector don't feel bad my first system was the Magnavox Odysee in 72 or 73. Defender for the 2600 started me making custom control pannels

Allegedly in Japan the SEGA Genesis had online capable play 1990 or close to then for some games. At least so many videos on youtube have alleged.

@@WickedGamerCollector Hehehe misschien kunnen we een ruiltje maken, heb nog een x360 Jtag liggen waar ik niks mee doe.
Playstation 1 and gameboy color were my first consoles, never had a sega, never knew they existed.
That's crazy. I remember the GDEMU being like $6 in 2019. I thought, "eh, someday."
Never saw them THAT cheap. Also, those aren't update-able. Old version doesn't run many aftermarket games or the badass Atomiswave to Dreamcast ports.
They weren't THAT cheap but they sold for anything between 25-45 USD before the chip shortage

I wish the 10 percent over clock became common as part of modded DC's as turns out with new fan and PSU it is compatible

Wow you were playing videogames at 4? I began like at 9 or 10 in a friend's Atari 2600.
Forget that. Use Flycast. You can play EVERY GAME in enhanced 4K, you can even play every game online like Quake 3 Arena or PSO. It's stunning!
