The reason American choc tastes different is Herscheys. They made a special chocolate for US ww2 troops with boiled milk and less cacao solids so it would last ages. The soldiers developed a liking to it so it entered production to mainstream consumers following the war. That taste became the benchmark for a “good” American chocolate.
Also the laws that restrict what percentage of cocoa a chocolate can be categorized as are very lax in the United States and require a higher percentage in the UK.
I only go by grace opinions because they're honestly unlike 85 % ( or more) of the content out there! so please, keep doing what youre doing, keep being straight fwd and not giving a **** of what anyone thinks! this is what content is meant to be like ( talking about her videos at large not just this one in particular)
Whittard has the best fruit tea (instant tea powder). It is a bit expensive but it tastes of the fruit they say it will. They also do delicious hot chocolate flavours. It’s definitely worth a try 😊

You might find fruit tea more palatable if you add a little sugar, honey or any type of sweetener, which then brings it a little closer to hot squash/cordial with botanical notes. You can then reduce the amount sweetener you add until you are sweeter free with it (if that’s what you want to do). Though sometimes it’s that two teabags are needed due to the size of the cup, you have to check the packaging for how much water they say to add. That being said, the Twinings strawberry and lemon are really flavourful…which was a bit of a shocker as I used to always find that Twinings tended to be a bit on the mild side for me flavour wise.
Grace the key to get flavour out of herbal/fruit teas is to add just a touch of sugar, like the tip of the teaspoon not even a quarter teaspoon. I feel like it somehow gives the flavour something to cling on to if that makes sense?

NZ chocolate is the best! Our Cadbury also tastes different to your UK Cadbury. I miss NZ chocolate living here in the UK :( if you ever do get a chance, try Whittakers. Nigella Lawson loves it so much she has done a few ads for us haha
Were the fruit snacks from Costco Florida Naturals fruit nuggets? I have a similar memory of amazing fruit snack things that I can no longer find and I went down a rabbit hole and found the fruit nuggets. Whatever they were, AMAZING!

I remember reading that American chocolate tastes so different (bad) is because years ago they use a preservative (butyric acid) in it to prevent the milk from spoiling in transit when it was being shipped across the country in hot lorries before they had proper fridges/coolers for transporting food available in delivery trucks. Even though now they don't need to use the additive because we have the means to can keep food/dairy products cold enough, Americans are so accustomed to the flavour that they continue to use it. Butyric acid is also found in vomit which is why American chocolate tastes like sick to so many of us in the uK/Europe.

Obviously there's a lots of higher quality, independent, and artisanal American brands that don't use these processes and additives, but a lot of the mainstream brands do - primarily Hershey's which dominates and owns the majority of the confectionary market in America!

I've never heard of Mr Beast! I watch you, Joe Sugg (Thatcher Joe) and The Buckleys. As someone who's incredibly sensitive to protein taste, I feel what you mean. You might like barebells protein bars? They use milk proteins, which I think is absolutely a game changer. The Caramel choco one tastes very evocative of a candy bar.

So i worked with a lot of UK, Irish and Australian transplants who were appalled by the taste of Hershey's so I bought them as a treat Cadbury flake , they loved it, i could not stand the taste it was so milky. I guess it is what you are used to. Love your content.
