When I listen to some of the BoC songs , they are so beautiful and evoke such emotion in me that I get confused and wonder if maybe I am just listening to the same song that I had previously felt uplifted by 20 minutes ago because each song seems to elicit the same emotional reaction in me of calm and wonderment. But it turns out they are all unique and equally wonderful in their own way.

This track evokes in me a memory from when I was about 5 or 6 years old. It was one night after everyone had gone to bed and unusually I couldn't sleep. After a while I decided to creep down to the living room without my parents knowing and there I stood in the dark room for what seemed like hours staring at the night sky through the window. It takes me back to that weird combined feeling of exhilaration and isolation that I felt in that moment.
It's strange; no one was supposed to hear Closes Vol.1, yet here is a video on youtube claiming to be music from just that. BoC added it to their video playlist (I don't think they would have done so if it was mislabeled), possibly meaning they are subtly confirming that this is indeed off that album. The song itself is so fantastic... it puts me in a trance. It's the soundtrack to a dream. I really wish they would give us a word on whether they will release the rest of their material or not.

BoC fans love nothing more than being able to give this unnamed track an official name, and feeling like they are listening to their private stash (the brothers state this album has only been heard by friends and family).

This song is also a sample/slowed down version of their later song, Seven Forty Seven (appears on Warp20). A song called '5d' is rumored to be on an old cassette called Closes Vol. 1. This cassette has never been released.
747 is a very mysterious track. It is really quite interesting. I believe maybe they loved this track very much. to have used it so much. I originally thought it was new, and had been made recently for Warp20(unHeard), but now i know it is an extremely early track. I actually believe it might have been either the last track the original band made, or the first track marcus and eoin made together. Anyway, if this was the original 747, then it has evolved alot since it was first made.

This IS Seven Forty Seven, it's an early version of it. This version was released on a Warp compilation. All of the tracks on the so-called Closes, Vol. 1 are either Boards of Canada songs from other releases, or tracks from different artists. Nobody has ever heard Closes, apart from close friends and family of the band members. The same applies to Hooper Bay EP, Play By Numbers EP and Acid Memories EP. However, some excerpts of these tracks can be found (and are the real deal)
Unfortunately, this is not "5d". This is a track simply labeled "audiotrack 6" from the "Random 35 tracks tape" album, frequently mislabeled as "old tunes, volume 1". "5d" will likely never ever see the light of day, as the band's first releases were intended for friends and family only.
No way of knowing that. While there's no hard evidence, this track really could be 5D for all we know. This is purely anecdotal, but I've always thought that 5D would be a very fitting title for the track. The etherial, eerie quality of it all feels like a glimpse into another dimension, this sound being the sole representation of another state of being or existence which can't be understood within human nature... hence, 5D. The duration is about 22 seconds off the purported track's length, but that can be explained by the later addition of a crossfade into the next track, as with many tracks on R35TT. I'm not sure if this track being included in BoC's official playlist is representative of anything, but it could a subtle hint. Who can say? We may never know for sure.

The duration is about 22 seconds off the purported track's length, but that can be explained by the later addition of a crossfade into the next track, as with many tracks on R35TT. I'm not sure if this track being included in BoC's official playlist is representative of anything, but it could a subtle hint. Who can say? We may never know for sure.

It might be 5D. The R35TT is just a mixtape of their oldest material. Even though none of the tracks are labeled, we do know the names of some of them.
