I've been doing this for 12 years like this.

I have some 2' rebar that my son will hammer down by 1' for me so I can place some plastic conduit pipes over top of them. I'll have holes drilled offset at the base so as to peg them down also. I will have elbow and tee joins the join up the piping so in the end each trellis will have three 6' down lengths with two 3' pieces of piping joined by the elbow and tee joins. I have purchased 6' X 6' netting that will be hung and woven onto the piping. I hope it works. I'm planning on planting mini pumpkins, melons, cucs and what ever else I have space for. Lol. I have 4, 2X4 raised beds along with 2, 2X2 raised beds along with 4, 3X6 raised beds cut down from a leaky water tank. I plan on putting the 2X2 and the 2X4 beds up along the side length of my home that faces west with the trellises up against my home. In the 3X6 beds out back I have anchored stretched out arches for whatever to grow up and over. I know it's a bit late but I'm putting the scarlet beans on one of the arches to see how they go. My I've waffled on a lot. I'm not usually this chatty. Take care calikim and camera guy

Hi. I use cattle panel to grow my veggies. I have one 4x8 square foot garden, and maximized my space by adding four panels for beans, cucs, peas, melons, sweet potato, zucchini, and squash. The panels leave plenty of room for my greens, herbs, peppers, tomatoes, and eggplant. Happy growing!🥬🥒🌶🥦🍆🍅🍈🍉

I have peas growing on a cattle panel. It’s so much easier for harvesting than the teepee style I had in my raised bed last season. I have another cattle panel set up for melons.... but not sure if the brown spots on leaves is a sign of disease or just due to cool weather. 🧐
I will do the same, Kim, and sow cuke seeds every month! Thx for that crucial tip. From you, I’ve learned to keep sowing throughout the season for continuous harvest!!!

I use a doubled wrap around the posts with galvanized or stainless steel wire. Also, when using tools with metals WEAR safety glasses and a face shield. You risk a recoiling wire or shaing to your eye and face if you don't. I dont fancy you an eyepatch or blind gardener...

If you put metal like that in direct sun in a very hot climate, will the metal heat up enough to harm the vegetation? We used to stake to our chain-length fence, but the crops tended to burn when the metal heated up on 90+ degree days, and we have about 100 of them per year, and about 10 days of 100-105. We have been using bamboo poles and heavy-duty string to encapsulate our veggies, and it works okay without heating up, but it is a lot of work and re-work.
As a former radio and tv reporter/announcer, my opinion is that your Q rating is near the perfect score, and it is a major miscarriage of justice that you have not been picked up to do home gardening on either HGTV or PBS. You are more enjoyable to watch then any of the garden shows on TV, and your voice and diction are basically perfect.

My husband planted cucumber seeds this week and after seeing your video we are looking for the cattle panel so he can build the trellis. I was admiring your watering system. We are currently using soaker hose lines on our beds. Did you use a landscaper for your watering system? Any recommendations on how we can obtain a similar system as what's in your garden? I'm not pleased with the soaker hose set up. Thanks again for this great video. I subscribed to your page. Definitely looking forward to more post 🙂

Love the look of that cattle panel! Do you think that might work to get the longer branches of our raspberry bushes up vertically? They’re planted in front of a fence, so I’m wondering if the cattle panel would go right up to the fence or if I’d need to leave some room between the two. Thank you!

Is the mesh galvanized? If not are you seeing any rusting? How much was the cost please?

This is great information. Using cattle pannels to support vining veggies like cucumbers and spaghetti squash is one of my favorite ideas. This year, when we built two new raised beds, we put the beds about 3 feet apart and created an arch between the two using some cattle panels that we had laying around. The arch is large enough for us to walk under and the cucumbers are very easy to harvest since they grow down through the trellising. I shared this video in a post that I wrote: farminence.com/how-to-grow-cucumbers. Thanks again for sharing this!

Very impressive how you handled that short handle sledge hammer. And I'm sure the nit pickers will be commenting on your lack of safety glasses while cutting the wire. Thanks for posting.

I’m confused. It’s soilless because you used what? And it’s soilless even with compost?

Hello! Nice video. I have been using cattle panels for a trellis for several years now. I can trellis my tomatoes and several other vegetables. I have a question regarding the wire you laid alone the garden bed. Is that copper wire?

I know this video is really old but I want to try this. Can you attach the panel to the posts with zip ties?

Boy, that's a lot of pressure on the zip ties +weather factors? You'll have to look at your situation and make the decision...industrial level (thickness) Zip ties, maybe, Arielle? Your thoughts, thus far?

Hi again, I’m wondering, dust the rust from the panel hurt the veggies? I love your idea & plan to use it this year.
