- Well I’m a little late getting into BNHA, aren’t I? I’ve had my eye on it for its art style alone since I first saw Horikoshi’s work, but never actually bothered to read it. Suddenly though I just felt compelled to, in part because of how GOOD the art is, and in part because I really thought Katsuki looked like a cool character and I wanted to know more about him.
Glad I did! I love Horikoshi’s art and characters very much, and while there are plenty of flaws with the writing and treatment of various other elements of the story, I really appreciate BNHA overall. That being said, I’ve actually only read the manga thus far, and haven’t started the anime yet. I did watch Heroes Rising though, and have seen various clips here and there, like Deku and Kacchan’s 2nd fight (very beautiful animation, by the way!).
The best part about the series is definitely the characters, with such fun personalities and dynamics. Of course, Katsuki’s my favorite, but Deku is a close second! Also a big fan of Mina, Denki, Eijirou, Aizawa, All Might, Hawks, and Mirko. Honestly, all the students minus Mineta are great. I even really like reading about Endeavor’s atonement as a father. I like the running theme of being able to change and do better, despite what you may have done in the past. Doesn’t change the past or make it okay, but it’s not too late to start to fix your current actions.
ANYWAY! All that aside, for this animatic in particular I definitely took Horkoshi’s “taking/offering someone’s hand” symbolism and ran with it. It’s such a good part of Deku and Kacchan’s narrative, from how their relationship started to fall apart to how it’s begun to mend itself back together. Katsuki learning to understand and accept Deku’s hand, while also offering his own as he grows to want to save and support Deku just as Deku has always done for him, even when he may not have deserved it. They can hold each other up and be better together. Also, I just love drawing hands and getting to draw these two holding hands a bunch was a treat to myself lmao
Their relationship is definitely the most interesting from the series in my opinion, and I’m VERY excited to see where they’ll go from where they are in the current manga arc. Katsuki’s development as a character alone is fantastic, and because of his development as an individual who now sees his own flaws and is working to atone for his past mistakes, it’s also immensely satisfying to see Deku get what he’s always wanted out of Katsuki as a result- that being his friendship and trust! For Deku, I can’t imagine how good that must feel, to finally have the person you’ve admired your whole life finally understand you and stand as your equal. He also gets to see Katsuki be the hero he’s always known he could be, because he’s always had the skill, and now he’s got the heart to match.
I just want them to be close again. Let ‘em hug it out, let ‘em be the best heroes together! (The win to save/save to win/two sides of the same coin symbolism that they have is so good, btw)
This is getting long. Guess I needed to dump my thoughts on the series somewhere, since I’m not really in the fandom or anything. I just read the manga and liked it, so I made an animatic about it because I was fiddling with Toon Boom and got too attached to the idea once I started it. Truly, this wasn’t supposed to be a big finished project, but it spiraled and now here we are!
Hope you guys actually like BNHA/BKDK, cause that’s what you got! I’ll see you next time, whenever that is. :D

@@foxy_dragon_sus1094 I don't read the manga. but now, I kinda want to. their relationship is incredible in the anime. It was not that good at the beginning, but that changed with bakugo's character development. I don't know why some people say their relationship is "toxic" or some shit. they're just trying to start drama because they have nothing better to do besides annoying the shit out of people. fuqin' stuck-ups ugh. anyway, if you say their relationship is better then I must read that. I am a lunatic for bakudeku.
@@thefish7033 In the manga they just went in more depth why Baku bullied him.. He just know that izuku would do anything to make his dream come true, and Baku did say he regret ever saying take a swan dive off the roof of the building he has nightmares that is a good day and regreted it. I will let u read it😁

They say it's toxic cause they make it one sided they don't think what bakugou is going thru and he takes his pain and anger on his best friend. And yes they doing that to start ship wars..
More to the manga bakudeku
The manga really gives us more towards baku side of why than izuku side
He bullied deku cause at that point how izuku was looking he knew he would of died or get more injured the storys where people say katsuki was abused by his mom I will say he was abuse emotionality not physically. And Baku dislike that izuku could smile without a quirk and he was jealous of mommy inko (even tho inko in my opinion inko only shot him down and make it worst by saying sorry😑)
UGH OMG FINALLY.
literally, no relationship is perfect, obviously there’s gonna be times where you say things that hurt each other. it did start out normal, they were friends, possibly best friends, before things changed. they liked the same things, they played together even with bakugo’s teasing, they’ve known each other forever. but bakugo felt like he was better than everyone, and that feeling was given to him as everyone fed him praise for his quirk. his hatred for deku actually started off when deku and him were watching all night’s “fight” with some “villains” and winning, and deku said that all might was the best; his favorite. bakugo looked at him weird, like he wanted to be deku’s number one, doesn’t matter if it was intended to be romantic or not. he felt like he needed to surpass all might to become the strongest, to become deku’s number one, because he wants to be number one period, and deku was always telling bakugo that he was.
then, when he fell while they were playing, despite deku being weak, deku tried to help him up. he felt like deku, a weak, quirkless bastard, was looking down on him; thinking he’s better than him. bakugo took deku’s help the wrong way and his inferiority complex began to develop. so now he’s battling with this inferior vs superior feeling inside of him, and not only that, but to make himself seem more superior, he tried to say the harshest thing he could think of to deku, to unmotivate him and hurt him enough to make him feel weaker. he didn’t actually hate deku or want deku to die, he just wanted to be better than him and show deku just how much better he was than anyone else. all this time, he didn’t know that deku still admired him, he thought he was looking down on him, and that’s why was always fucking him over and showing off and pushing him away. the moment deku told him he still admired him during their 1v1 fight at ground beta, afterwards, bakugo started treating him a little different. not just that, but deku, the only one who knows how he truly feels and can handle taking it all in, provided him and outlet for letting out his aggressive emotions the only way he knows how to. they communicated, even if it was heated and angry, they heard each other out. and because of that, things are slowly progressing, getting less and less tense, better and better. and in the recent chapters of the manga, it’s 100% getting better.
Bakugou smiled more here than in the actual show, that proves that bakudeku is the key for happiness.

Somone posted his on tumblr and I immediately searched it up on here, I was drawn in by the art style. I love the way you drew them, the concepts, the animated bits, it all came together so nicely! Like someone else said, I love how you still portrayed their rivalry while still managing to make these wholesome moments. Oh my god this is amazing where do i even begin? The way they're always grinning like idiots in love had me squealing so hard and my cheeks hurts from smiling too much. I also read the description and it's amazing how i agree with every single word you wrote there. It's hard to find people who think the same way as you in such a big fandom so i'm glad i came across this! I'm happy to see someone who can also recognise the poor way some stuff are handled in the writing despite this being a great series overall. Also I'm absolutely in love with the way you convey emotions and died at this cute little moment here 0:39 and the expression on Bakugou's face here 0:44. I'm gonna come back to watch this masterpiece over and over to get my much needed serotonin from now on :)
