This is outstanding. Brit’s career is prolific. Honored to have worked alongside him for several years. Despite the hundreds of incredible cases he put together, I will always remember him as a great teacher. And he stayed humble throughout. Truly one of a kind.

Dudes a straight cop he said he don’t think criminals can’t be rehabilitated I got out after doing 14 years in prison I’ve been out 6 years married get up every morning working a 9 to 5 and my brother in law who was my homeboy from my gang has been out for 2 years after doing 22 years and my best friend been out 3 years after doing 17 years we all work 9 to 5 and have new cars houses kids wife’s so people need to stop being so narrow minded many people change for the better after making a mistake

I started smoking cigarettes since my teenage. I'm a veteran, was actually addicted to alcohol and cigarettes. I suffered severe depression and mental disorder. Got diagnosed with cptsd. Not until my son recommended me to psilocybin mushrooms treatment. Psilocybin treatment saved my life honestly. 8 years totally clean. Much respect to mother nature the great magic shrooms.

Can you help me with the reliable source 🙏. I'm 56 and have suffered for years with addiction, anxiety and severe ptsd, I got my panic attacks under control myself years ago and they have come back with a vengeance, I'm constantly trying to take full breaths but can't get the full satisfying breath out, it's absolutely crippling me, i live in Australia. I don't know much about these mushrooms. Really need a reliable source!! Can't wait to get them.

Mushrooms are very medicinal. This is why anybody familiar with psilocybin and any other kind of fungi will tell you, "They are alive." They have a very ancient wisdom. To my experience, all mushrooms have always said, "Pay attention to your life. How you think, how you feel, and what will you do with the information that you always knew, but now are seeing in this point of view." This is why mushrooms are so respected in tribal cultures. This mental health treatment works for me too. Half micro doses do the trick for me. At least a few days at a time with lengthy time in between. Thank you for sharing this point!

My son in law overdosed on fentanyl 8 years ago. He left a beautiful 5 year old little boy behind, my grandson. Ive never seen so much hurt in someone’s eyes. He will forever be haunted by that day.

Not enough self love with the drug users/drug dealers. The dealers have to know of feel some responsibility for the customers that did from the drugs they bought off them. A low life drug dealer vs addicted person maybe caused by childhood trauma.

He loved to con and people in prison over stuff that shouldn't put people in cages for 10+ years. And he did what he did for the rush, while he admits it changes nothing. Kind of like an addict.
Narcotics and weapons trafficking work is just a different street gang. He admits he participated in trafficking for months just for one case. He admits his work isn't doing anything, and he blames it on law enforcement, yet he can't seem to connect the dots. Law enforcement is in on the same racket as the cartels; the feds are like godfathers. People, drugs, weapons. Like never before, we see the government seemingly allowing it all. Gosh, I wonder why.
Honest guy staying in his lane? Sure, if you mean the status quo of a criminal empire.
What I meant by 'stays in his lane' is that he realizes he is a civil servant and is given a task and does it well. He doesn't claim to be a PhD researcher examining the outcomes of his method. When he is asked if the approach is making a difference he states his view, and he has certainly earned that right.
I'm not sure how you would gather evidence as a police officer without being involved in the process. I didn't do the same job as this guy but I did investigations and was around all facets of the process at various times in my career, often simultaneously. I know for sure the police don't target people because they don't like the cut of their jib. Usually it's to deal with a longterm history of criminal behavior.
Finally I went university for the equivalent of 8 years. I chose to avoid research or teaching, and for the most part managing, because like this guy wanted to hands on. I do believe in the system, but acknowledge it needs ongoing improvement, especially now.
I don't think stricter laws are the answer for the drug problem. As a recovering addict, the thought of life in prison wouldn't have stopped me from doing what I did. And I'm sure cartels out people in situations that they have no choice. Some way, some how, the addicts have to be helped, the children have to be taught better. If no one wants to buy them, the drugs won't sell. I found way out. Every addict can, but there's just not a lot of hope out there.

I was undercover narcotics for four years. It was the job that I enjoyed in law enforcement the most. The comradery was awesome. I have always been an adrenaline junky and boy there is no shortage of adrenaline producing moments lol. I was at a city of about 100,000 and I can't imagine what it was like for Britt being in San Francisco. Congratulations on your retirement and enjoy it...you sure as hell have earned it brother.

What is the pension like?
So you only worked cases of drugs having a psychoactive compound with numbing or paralyzing properties (heroin, morphine, opiates)? Because those other drugs like cocaine, marijuana, meth, etc… are other classes of drugs that are not a narcotic.
This man is one in a million. To do this job knowing that there are only a handful of people that could hold it together under such circumstances is profound to me. The fact that he’s married to a woman that understands him,and I’m sure shows him the “ other side “ of what he must be dealing with everyday - I assume this is his first and ONLY wife speaks volumes - . He has three kids that are all exemplary decent people , and many grandchildren is his payoff . I can’t imagine being surrounded by that much love, and respect. His humility shines through as well. I have no idea how this came up on my screen this morning, and why I watched it. This was an eye opener in respect to how invasive ,and dangerous this job must be. Kudos to this man . Ps. I’m assuming they’re not using his real name …

His marriage survived, him & his wife have raised great productive kids, he has grandkids, he enjoyed his job & retired from a great career. A great role model for his kids. Britt my dad started off in S.F.P.D. for his first ten years then went to California DOJ as Narcotics Special Agent, we lived in the Ingleside. Lots of stories including us kids dealing with credible kidnap threats. My dad was interviewed and on the cover of a well known magazine for his work.

@Spookdog56 Very interesting! Is it true that the most sophisticated group that SFPD/ Cali Narcotics dealt with was actually LSD distributors? I know that LSD isn’t the type of major drug that most people think of like cocaine heroin (or nowadays fentanyl) but I’ve heard that the group that synthesized and distributed LSD nationwide (out of the Bay Area, 70s-90s) were so discreet and disciplined that the major players were never caught and cases never got beyond the mid level distributors? Idk if that’s actually true but it’s what I’ve heard 🤔 I would have thought that it would be the Colombians or the Mexicans or maybe LCN but it was interesting anecdote to hear.

In its pure medicinal form, fentanyl is a life saver for pain management. After extensive surgery, in burn treatment and others such as severe pain from incurable cancer, it helps. I've been on fentanyl patches a few times. Went on, then went off with no problems. Lets not forget that either as doctors are now growing very careful in prescribing it, even for terminal cancer patients.
I think a lot of people don't even realize that fentanyl prescribed by a medical professional and what these people on the street are taking are not the same thing.

Fentanyl is a double edged sword. Very useful medically when it’s controlled.

Standard interview, subject is actually very low educated admittedly and is not hardworking at all. He did the same job as a lowest hanging fruit easy street buy,except he just filled out paperwork filing after the buy. Thats the same as packing and packaging up like the dealer. Hours at home at night preparing for the next day. He’s trained liar to fool dealers and hookers etc. these guys admit they have to become the same to integrate in and deceive and fit in. Cannabis growers are farmers right? You respect farmers hard work? Please tell me how they don’t do ten times the hard work as an undercover buyer?? Weed growers are ten times the hard worker than even plumbers and most average Americans in the work force. And they have to do all the jobs, trim harvest pack dry farm plant clone water, measure nutrients etc.
I'm a native San Franciscan. Grew up on Guerrero... And yes things are out of control in the tenderloin. I used to visit a friend that lived in one of those apartments in the tenderloin... I no longer visit her because that neighborhood is just to intense. I love my city and hope things get better. And thank you for your service!

I’m a San Franciscan since 94. I can attest to the glooming darkness that envelopes the city now. It draws mentally ill, substance users and underclass that parasitically intermix with the fortunate who also call SF home. Seemingly no amount of city or state money in programs address or stems the tide. The ongoing crush of very damaged people is changing the balance of SF. I feel for all of us in this struggle. No one person is better then another.

At about 17:30 Mark mentions him choosing the cop side when he could easily have chosen the bad guy side. Britt says he didn't choose, it was his path. Britt you may not have set out to be a cop but it was your choice to say "I need to do better for my family, they need me to have a steady job with benefits." That was the pivotal choice you made. Winding up in the narcotics department was the destiny part of it. Kudos to you sir!
I was SFPD from 2015-2022 (I was fired over the vaccine mandate). For young, motivated cops of my era, Britt was an inspiration and a legend. I wanted to be like him and the OG cops I knew on GTF, Specs, TAC, Narcotics. I don't want to say the guys who were my idols, but Britt was one of them. The epitome of a quiet professional. solid interview. i have a general sense of resentment towards law enforcement but i have respect for this dude.
As with all cops he can’t see the forest for the trees and his failed belief that the laws are the problem is juvenile. In 1980 the US was this incarcerating 180 people out of 100,000. By 2016 we’re incarcerating almost 700 out 100,000, far more than any other nation in the world. Each prisoner costs the taxpayer around $40 grand per year to house.
We’ve made zero headway in the war on drugs and have lost the war. This guy loved the OT he was paid to arrest low level dealers.
I heard a great quote from a prison warden who was sick of the overcrowding in his prison. He said “we have to start differentiating between who we’re mad at and who we’re afraid of.”
No easy answers and I don’t want violent people on the streets but after 40 years of the failed war on drugs there has to be more prevention and less incarceration. We always have prison beds but waiting lists for recovery beds.
Breakdown of the family is also responsible and that’s a tough one.

However, I don't understand how you can say that laws have no effect when we can see plain as day that since the passing of Prop 47, which basically decriminalized low level drug use and crime, that both of those things have absolutely exploded to epidemic levels, to the point that they are now finally considering reforming the law. As soon as this gentleman mentioned the fact that the inmates mentioned they were just messing with him and testing him on the first day of being a CO, I knew this dude was legit and I immediately had lots of respect for him... It makes me feel very uncomfortable knowing this is on the internet, I know he is now retired, but the bad guys he’s dealt with over the years… They don’t retire.

Great guy, hardworking. He's right about the fentanyl and the "quick buck that everyone is trying to make". There was a girl recently who overdosed on fentanyl laced marijuana given to her by a dealer. Dealers are adding it to a lot of things to have the "best stuff" on the local market. It's very dangerous. I'm glad I've been sober for a long time, nowadays people are hooked on things they can't get off, the stuff is too strong. Not sure if anyone will see this comment, but if you are using please think of your life. Basic things that helped me...getting away from people who use, some therapy, books like 30 Days to Sobriety by Harper Daniels (a mindfulness guide), The Easy Way by Carr, and the Tao Te Ching, diving deep into hobbies, and doing intense exercise.

I get a kick out of cops claiming their jobs are so dangerous. It’s way more dangerous being a farmer, truck driver, and 15 other jobs and those folks don’t get a bagpipe parade or Cadillac pension for their families.
Cops are drama queens which is probably why they shoot people that don’t need shot.

My best friend since kindergarten is addicted to crack and she got some that had fentanyl in it. She told me she hit it once and immediately fell out, doesn’t know how long she was out but she is still doing it every day even though I’ve tried talking to her and begging her to stop before it kills her. She actually said she likes it because it’s even better with the fentanyl in it. I just haven’t been talking to her because I know one day I’m going to hear about her death so I’m just trying to distance myself before it happens. She is losing her teeth and she’s probably less than 90 lbs now, she’s a few months older than me but she looks 10 years older. It’s so sad that she’s going down that road, there’s a lot of people I knew and went to school with that are gone now because of drugs.

What?!? Street buys are low hanging fruit easiest bust! Saying no one me talks about fentanyl high up is a straight lie! It’s all over every news channel. And the respect?!? What manual labor does he do?!? He’s buying drugs off dealers! There’s no effort in that! He’s glorifying being one tad notch less lazy himself. Do you people not respect farmers?!? I really like this guy! He had a hectic start on life, and the path he took made him the way he is.
He stuck with his wife through everything and his children followed his example.

All of north America is like this now.. I'm in Ontario canada and theres tents lined up here too.. compared to 5 years ago this didnt exist .. the rents tripled and the drugs strengthened
