I hope you enjoy today’s beautiful hymn “Close To Thee” also known as “Thou My Everlasting Portion”. This song was requested by Chuck Clark.
A Blessing of Friendship in a time of Need:
Chuck first wrote me in 2018 saying he saw a video of me playing for a veteran in a Cracker Barrel ( • “America The Beautiful... ) and that he was blessed by it! Since then he ordered our SaxAndViolin CD sent us pictures of him opening it and has become a wonderful friend online! Chuck is a preacher and a pianist and him and his wife Diane have ministered their entire lives. This week he wrote me asked if I could ever record “Close To Thee” and that this is his favorite song. I told him I didn’t know it, but said I would have a listen! Well I listened to the Gaither’s version of “Close To Thee” and fell in love with this song! I had actually planned to record a different song this week but felt a strong urging in my heart to record this for Chuck and his wife Diane. I knew Chuck and his wife have been going through a very hard time as Diane has pancreatic cancer and actually just yesterday she was admitted to the hospital. Through all his caring for his wife Chuck continues to encourage me constantly and lift me up and always lets me know that my music has been a blessing to him and his wife. Here is one of his messages to me...🙏🏻
“The very first time I saw you play, was when you saw an older veteran in a Cracker Barrel restaurant and you went out to your car and brought back in your violin and played such sweet patriotic songs for him...such a sweet and generous gesture...it may have touched the viewers as much or more than it did him because I have never forgotten it.”
“Thank you for your twice a week music ministry! What a blessing you are to me and certainly, many, many others! You are authentic and genuine and when you speak at the end, it is so obvious that it comes from your gentle soul....God bless you and your precious family with many years of ministry and winning souls and encouraging others! Your music has the anointing of the Lord upon it and that’s what makes it reach the soul. Thx so much dear sister!”

Thx to all of you have prayed for my wife’s recovery from pancreatic cancer. She is feeling good. Her appetite is back. Her strength is returning as well. Her weight is slowly gaining. My wife went to be with the Lord in April of 2021. I’ve since remarried a lovely, Godly widow from my church.
Listening to this beautiful old hymn touches my heart once again! 2 yrs ago my late wife and l were battling her cancer. The Lord, in His mercy and grace, took her out of the worst suffering. I’m grateful for His blessings on my new wife and me. She was a widow for 6 years. We are continuing to pastor the church l arrived at 19+ yrs ago. We are blessed beyond measure!
To whoever is reading this, you are loved. You are blessed. Your dreams are manifesting as we speak. Time is on your side. Everything will work out in your favor. May you find more love, peace and prosperity. Keep shining your light in this world. We need you and we love you.🙂 💖💖💖💖💖💖

Working daily to memorize all the old hymns so I can sing them to my Lord and worship Him through out my day. I also sing them to my infant granddaughter. I want them in her heart from day 1.
It is 3 days before Christmas 2020. Our youngest child is home from college for the holidays. Sadly, I have to share with you that Diane is struggling with advanced pancreatic cancer that has spread to her liver and bones...she is suffering greatly...tonight, as I sit here listening to this old hymn, my heart cries out, "O Father, lead me through this veil of shadows....then the gate of life eternal...May I enter Lord with Thee!" Beloved friends...oh how we need Him to be with us in the good times...but we desperately need Him in life's situations where we are helpless in our own strength....
"Thou my everlasting portion...more than friend or life to me." We have to walk with Him! We must realize when we are set free of these earthly bonds, we find eternal freedom with our Savior who gave His life that we might have that eternal life....if you have lost loved ones this past year or more, hold on...it won't be long until you are reunited with your loved one! If you need to forgive someone...forgive them. My late mother who was a retired United Methodist pastor taught us..."Give your flowers to the living....IF you love them...Tell them so!" Thank you again Rosemary for this precious song!

Such a wonderful way to start a Sunday, with your message of hope and trust in God to see us through all of this. Oh my, Rosemary! Thank you--this was a sweet deja Vu moment for me. My Dad and I used to sing this together. He is now singing for Jesus in eternity. This song is not just for Chuks and Diane but also for me. I listened to this song in a ministration once and that was some months back. But during my quiet time with God after praying I laid my back down to rest and I saw the holy spirit singing this song to me.
When I woke up I could sing the first verse of the song without searching. Butmy question was *Why will God sing this song to me*? and just as I was asking myself this question the answer came- God saw my fears, He has searched my heart and tried it.
I am an Evangelist from Nigeria and God has been helping me to witness to lot of people but all of a sudden I was afraid of loosing my life but he sang this song to me.
I decided to find this song on youtube so I can download so I saw Rosemary's video, I love it and could not help but to download
I pray for Chuks and his wife that the Lord shall locate them for good. The healing hand of Jesus will visit Diane in Jesus name

Good morning Ms. Rosemary! It's a beautiful sunny day here in Colorado, The snow is glistening on the mountains, and this beautiful song. It's going to be a good day. I watched the video where you played for the older vet at a Cracker Barrel. I would like to share this little story with you, and, strangely enough, it took place at "my" local Cracker Barrel. I was on my way to a Memorial Day service, 2015, and stopped for an early breakfast. I never wear or display anything that would reflect my prior service, except on this one day. I had worn a cap, emblazoned with U.S. Marine Corps at the top, with a rocker saying Vietnam Veteran at the bottom. As usual, I had chosen a little table in a back corner, having noticed no one else as I was seated. I had my head down, kinda staring into my coffee, when I noticed from the corner of my eye, someone at my table. Looking up, standing rock rigid, rendering salutes, were two small boys. The oldest maybe being 8 yrs. I returned their salute, smiled, and, selfishly, hoped that was it. Then, the younger of the two, held out his little hand. At this point, I removed my cover, stood, and took his hand. The oldest then said," sir, we would like to think you for your service. Our daddy is a Marine, and he is in Afghanistan." I looked up and saw their mom standing a feet behind them. She didn't say anything, but just lightly tapped over her heart, and mouthed "God bless". I could only hold it together for so long. I gave them each a hug, and told them to tell their daddy this old Marine said Semper Fi, set back down, and let the tears flow. Feeling somewhat embarrassed, I managed to look up to see if anyone had witnessed this exchange. The room was quite, and folk's at their table had turned to watch. No one said any thing, but rather nodded and smiled. I have no way of knowing, but I prefer to believe those little boy's have their daddy back. I was out earlier, having my coffee staring up at the mountains, the sun bouncing off the snow, a blue cloudless sky; ----maybe I've been wrong all this time. Sir, you are going to make me cry (I've been doing this quite a lot lately). As the daughter of (WW2) and sister to (Vietnam) veterans, I know the effects of war. It makes you both strong and weak at the same time. So few people really appreciate the fact that because of the selfless determination to defend and protect others, none of us would be here today. Thank you for your service and I pray that all of our brave men and women may return home forever, never having to think about battle again. God bless you and everyone here on Rosemary's channel. This is indeed a special place to be, a respite for people to return back to God and hopefully better times in the future.

OK, Roger, you've had me in tears, here, as did Rosemary's beautiful tribute to Chuck and Diane. On those occasions when I have worn my Vietnam Veteran cap in public, I have been thanked for my service several times in past years (a Very different reaction than one we would have received in the '70s), but Never as beautifully or as emotionally as the thanks you received from these two boys. If that had happened to me, I would have reacted in the same way, I have no doubt.
It is also a beautiful morning out here in Hawai'i, and I will be meeting a couple friends soon for our daily morning coffee get-together on a bayside lawn under the shade of coconut palms. One of my friends is a Marine Corps Vietnam Veteran, and I will share Rosemary's hymn with him, as I do every week, as well as your letter here.

When I am spiritually down this song always lift me up. Really touching I married 7 years ago and all efforts to bring my wife with me have not been easy,. Sometimes my faith weathered but you encourage me thanks for your hymns. My request is help the Youth to join our old folks in church. It saddens me when I visits the Churches and see few older folks and all the pews empty.

Rosemary good morning, as I was praying this hymn came too me, a friend gave it to me a few years ago and thought it was a beautiful hymn for me too sing in Church. I'm a Soprano/Soloist. As I was going through the different selections of others singing it, I came across your video, how uplifting, beautiful and soothing for my spirit that I started too cry. I want too first thank God for blessing you with such an amazing talent and gift on playing the Violin that's such a beautiful instrument. No what I'm saying is to share a verse to what the song is saying. For ex. "Draw closer to God and He will draw closer to you." I think that's found in Psalms. Or maybe just share a verse that led u to sing a song your singing.
