The Gay movement succeeded in liberation when the USA was predominantly White. Now with the demographic shift, more Muslims and Latinos means more oppression.

@@jasjas7232 It’s hysterical you want to bring up mare island AS Vallejo. Because mare island was pretty much its own town until the naval base closed, it was handed over to Vallejo. But for YEARS… no development has happened at all.
Plus there’s barely anything there at all. It’s definitely growing but what about the other side across the Napa river? The ACTUAL CITY VALLEJO!?
It was only recently that mare island gained some changes. But what about the rest of Vallejo as a WHOLE city? Any improvements? No… the VCUSD, not doing so well either. Have you seen these streets? Some of these streets haven’t been repaired for years. Let’s talk about the crime which is pretty much all over the Bay Area but it’s definitely gotten worse in Vallejo.
Sure some new big box retail shops have opened but many many small businesses and others have closed. Majority of the city has empty, run down and dead shopping plazas.
So to point out mare island as an improvement, sure, that’s great and everything. But Vallejo, as the city itself, hasn’t improved. Plus, not many people have access to mare island. There’s only a particular demographic that feels included or able to enjoy the pleasure of taking up the space there.
I don’t live in Vallejo anymore but my parents still do. I live and work in Napa.
that’s why it’s so interesting to see improvements with neighboring cities like American Canyon, Fairfield, Benicia and Suisun. It’s crazy like night and day how Vallejo still is struggling.
Vallejo is filled with amazing people though! But it’s not fair to say that Mare Island’s improvement, is an improvement for Vallejo. Because realistically, it isn’t. It is for only a small fraction of the population that has access to enjoy. While the rest of the actual existing city of Vallejo, gets left behind. definitely isn’t fair either.
