Awesome edit and juxtaposition (if that applies here) done. That is pretty much how I envisioned the events of the opening and Skull Island happening.
During the madness, Randa BOOKS IT and leaves the rest behind spooked out of his mind where he records his monologue from LOM and catches the attention of a 2nd Mother Long Legs, escapes it and its battle, and then catches up with Packard and the team shortly all fatigued.

Kong Skull Island had the most style out of the monsterverse. The way it was presented along with its pastiche homage to old war films, especially from the vietnam era, does make it all the more disappointing that no film - since kong skull island - has matched that level of quality in the monsterverse.

The Mantleclaw’s roars are reused octopus cries from Meg 2: The trench. What was your reaction when you heard it used those cries?
I'm pretty sure that's just a stock roar that film studios can license.
