On this day in 1959 {July 15th} Duane Eddy performed "40 Miles of Bad Road" and "The Quiet Three" on Dick Clark's American Bandstand... Exactly one month earlier on June 15th "40 Miles of Bad Road" entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; eventually it peaked at #9 and spent 15 weeks on the Top 100 chart... "The Quiet Three", the B-side, also charted; it reached #46... "40 Miles of Bad Road" just missed making the United Kingdom's Top 10 chart, it peaked at #11... R.I.P. Mr. Clark...

Hey Jenö, During our drive back from Austria we had 750 miles of bad road caused by heavy snowfall. But these 40 miles make me forget it. A wonderful rendition from the Hungarian "King of twang".
