It still feels so weird that all of these images are made by computers. It's also funny that internet to the ai is a computer from the 80s saying welcome haha.
Considering the fact that at 00:47 it literally produced a facimile of younger Bo Burnham, it's even more weird and interesting. It's as if the song has accidentally baked into the AI.

It seems like the AI has learned what text looks like and what kinds of images usually include text, but has no way to learn how to read or write, so it generates arrays of pixels that superficially resemble text

It's weird to see how in most pictures with humans, the faces are weirdly distorted, but there's a few that look weirdly real. Also it does cat faces well.
I imagine the pictures of humans look fine to cats, but the pictures of cats look weird to them.
The faces when it's real pepple are distorted on purpose to prevent you from making false facts abou them. If this is the AI I think it is
the ai generally does well with portrait style faces, where it doesn’t have to focus on much else, introduce just one more face or object and it gets harder for the ai

Midjourney gives obscure art, but Dall-e gives images just outside of normality. Both unsettling, both crazy to think about, both utterly captivating.
Agreed, both are strangely bizarre on their own.
I guess we have this unsettling feeling as we have hidden expectations of what art should be, but ai doesn't have these constraints.
And that just slight disconnect works great for this song i feel. Its not some grand artwork, its as weird and unsettling and manic as the song itself.

Everyone's talking about Dall-e's realism, but I just want to point out 2:47 ('and spent our nights') as a genuinely beautiful image on its own, along with a lot of the 'a bit of everything' images and 'anything' & 'everything' images at the end
I especially enjoyed the images for "boredom is a crime", usually animals looking sus, there's something in that.

I'd love to see how Dall-E 2 handles all of the historical references in the song! The song itself is essentially a chronicle of world events and culture throughout the Cold War, from the atomic bombs dropping at the end of WW2 all the way up to the turn of the century when the song was released in 2000.

Almost every image for "a little bit of everything" involved an open hand. I wonder, given these are all just algorithms and programmed AI, there's way to manipulate it to make images you can predict. The phrase "a little bit" seems to trigger an open palm, for example.
I think is that "a little bit" is something that you can hold in your hand, the AI could have thinked this and generated this images.

2:28 At first quick glance it could totally look like a real image if you're not paying close attention, but something makes you look twice. His left arm has a right hand. If your vision isn't completely sharp in the first place it's so freaky because it still looks pretty real.

The Trap by Tally Hall, the same people who did Miracle Musical. It has lots of open ended, abstract and beautiful lyrics that would be perfect to let the AI play around with. Gypsy by Bear Ghost would also be good for the same reasons.

Oh my God the upgrade from Midjourney to Dall-E 2, not to say Midjourney is bad, but wow, you can really say that some of these photos look scarily real, and it’s just amazing to look at, I’m excited to see what you’ll do in the future, you’ve got a lot of potential with this in your hands
Midjourney's far better at art and artistic styles, but Dall-E is much better for photorealism. I enjoy Midjourney more, but they definitely have their own use cases.

I guess which one you would use would depend on what type of song you're doing it to. Some songs just require that make-you-feel-uncomfortable-but-in-a-good-way type picture, and some benefit from a more grounded picture.
Honestly some of these though look like stock photos from the dataset lifted almost without change. Personally I think Midjourney always feels more "artistic" and interprets things more wildly, whereas DALL-E defaults to some pretty literal interpretations.
There was a great meme on the Midjourney official Discord, of Dall-E and Midjourney incarnated as living artists. Dall-E was a perky professional photographer, and Midjourney was a scruffy alcoholic covered with paint smears.

I've seen some videos talking about Dall-e being like the future of art, or whatever, and one thing i noticed from this video is how bad the AI is at generating human faces, which i find fascinating. The fact that the AI can do basically everything else in flawless detail, yet gets that wrong nearly all the time is truly amazing to me. Although, they're not really that bad, it's probably just our collective ability to see every flaw in a face. Thank you for coming to my ADHD-fueled rant about AI and our brain!
Edit: One thing i really want to see is instead of individual lines, what about the entire song? Just one image, with a song's worth of input? See what madness comes out of it? Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny would be absolutely fucking insane.
Different AIs are capable of different things. DALL-E mini and Midjourney are very bad at human faces, but I think that's by design. DALL-E proper is supposedly so good at generating human faces that having access to it requires agreeing *not* to generate realistic human faces with it.

Yeah, that's why I'm a little suspicious about how closely the prompts actually match the lyrics. Some of these verses would just get you banned from DalleE, and the ones people behold as the AI being "so reactionary"... I've dealt with these AIs and it just doesn't seem likely without some heavy prompt tuning and reruns...

I honestly forgot I was looking at AI generated photos part way through because I just woke up. I've been telling people who don't know about this stuff that they can't trust photographs anymore but it still got me. I'm not usually one to say progress is scary but in this case...
The "a little bit of everything" with the universe sprouting from the palm of a hand is a beautiful in its own right.
"Good Life" by Shayfer James is an underated favorite of mine that I think would mesh well with the AI. Other than that I recommend "Ghosting" by Mother Mother and "The Fall" by Lovejoy. Great work BTW, looking forward to more.
