They got a bus service from Udon Thani to Vang Vieng. Udon has 2 Bus Stations. No.1 is the Down Town & No.2 is on the Ring Road. The journey time is about 4 hours. I put in capitals below what should take you to an article of somebody who did the journey & I added a bit of extra info you might find useful below.
      - Udon Thani has Baht Buses (Songtaews) that run from early morning to early evening. If I put the initials we’re you find all the info for these my comment will disappear but they are the one between E & G and the one after A. Look for Smart Map Songtaew Udon. Then you should see a red thumb nail with a yellow duck & that is the page you want. If your going early morning though I would just get a Grab Taxi or Tuk Tuk. Coming back though if your heading into Udon City centre jump the Baht Bus. The Baht Bus No. is No.6 & costs 10 THB.
HOW TO GET TO VANG VIENG FROM UDON THANI GABI TRAVELS.

Have you ever been to Nepal Eddie? If you wanna see more spectacular mountains the Himalayas 🏔️ then head to Pokhara, it’s just a short flight from Kathmandu, I wouldn’t recommend the bus. It’s one of the main mountain towns where climbers meet to climb Annapurna. Wonderful town and sits next to a large lake! The return flight from Bangkok to Kathmandu is around £212 and takes just 2hrs30mins. I went there about 3 years ago to meet my son who got engaged at the Annapurna base camp. The town of Pokhara has good cheap hotels and restaurants and what’s really incredible is seeing the sunrise over the Himalayas, magical and magnificent 😊. Yes Vang Vieng is great too, I was there about 15 years ago, even the main road was still a gravel road and most people headed to the river to ride on big water rings over the rapids, do they still do that?

Agreed, but it's more interesting seeing the creativity of a vologer, along the way, than just getting there any old way
Example there's some big time vologers in Philippines that I just watched, and instead of the showing the do's and don't of getting their visa processed going to another country, they just throw everything over the fence to an agency, for them to do the work.
Nothing creative about them, only with thumb nails, click baiting, aka masturbating
Most tuber's their info is as useless as tits on a boar 😂
