- Rakim Stephen Tate, a suspect in an attempted robbery, was caught on camera at a convenience store in Florida, where he allegedly tried to intimidate the clerk by claiming, "I'm from Chicago, bro." The incident began when Tate entered the store and approached the counter, seemingly with the intent to commit a robbery. However, the situation took an unexpected turn when the quick-thinking clerk revealed that he was armed with a weapon of his own, ready to defend himself and his place of business.

@@leapingcatproductions1777 let's not forget that Illinois IS the farm belt. Chicago just happens to be the New York on The Lake. And that's the odd confluence in that it's absolutely cosmopolitan but it's scant moments away from farms. I remember when we moved from South Shore to Country Club Hills, it was like another world to me. I mean I was never a stranger to the country as my father was a sharecropper from Mississippi and we went there or St. Louis every 3-4yrs for alternating locations for annual family reunions. But to now live footsteps from a cornfield is markedly different from visiting a cotton field for a 3-day weekend. So as a Chicagoan with a little bit of NY in me (that's another story for another post), I identify as a purely urban person whose life experiences have taken him all over the place. I KNOW Chicago when I see it and hear it. It courses through me like The Blues and my parents' blood. That dude is probably from Joliet. Maywood is up there. Bellwood is waaaay up there. Aurora and Elgin are odd historically. Harvey is the South Side of the South Side (super-grimy). Markham is chill. CCHills, Hazel Crest, University Park and Matteson are bourgeois to an extent. @@travonpoe6373 shut up I hate educated people
Yea I doubt he will be charged with robbery since he never once asked for the money or even tried taking anything I think dude was jus mentally not right either way he gonna do a little stretch
I assume he was on his way to law and med school.
just need 51% of a possibility to charge.
Yeah this was definitely NOT a robbery attempt ALTHOUGH its easy to assume so ESPECIALLY if Im the clerk. what i saw was TWO RESPONSIBLE gun owners. the man pictured kept his weapon essentially holstered and NEVER made a move to show the clerk the barrel, even when showing him what gun he had he held it in an non-aggressive manner. the clerk, CLEARLY was chill enough to know the difference in threat assessment and didnt just out of nowhere shoot the guy. its not illegal to carry a weapon but it is illegal to threaten people with it and the clerk stood his ground PERFECTLY.
Arrested for what? He did none of that.
Honestly the most polite armed robbery on camera. I’m not even sure he robbing that place. He mighta been concerned about the area and brought the strap for protection
He just seems mentally ill to me. Something's lowered his sense of self awareness. But this is clearly not an attempted robbery
That’s all he gotta say In Court to get off
That’s what I got out of it. The only thing that made me think I might be wrong is he didn’t try to purchase anything.
@100DOLLAR BILLZ
He might have been waiting for the clerk, there are plenty of things that are kept behind the counter; like cigarettes.
He could've also been waiting to buy gas if it's a pre-pay place.
@@Aetius_of_Astora also the clerk had a gun out by the time he entered the store we find out at the end so I wouldn’t request to buy anything either if someone’s pointing a gun at me. Since he didn’t point the gun at anyone, threaten anyone, and said I’m not here to harm you I just am not from around here and Florida is an open carry state (he probably confused about what that means) I bet with a really good lawyer he can get off this charge.
Dude has two teardrops. I bet his mama still says he's a good boy.
He will be adding another after this...
I seen someone with like 10's of teardrop tattoos but he not in a gang and never has been in one nor has he killed anyone. just a dude who wanted teardrop tats
@@Aerochalklate There are always posers. He might have trouble if he was in the big house.
@e-curb what gang do teardrops represent? I never heard of teardrops being gang tattoos.
@@MrHood666 teardrops don’t represent a gang. It represents how many bodies people have collected. Each tear represents a kill.
Dude chickened out.
...Aaaaand the Darwin award goes to Mr. Chicago.
I love how you can see the exact moment he knew he messed up. He saw the guy with a gun who was ready for him and he fell like house of cards
Talk about becoming a polite young gentleman when he sees he's on the muzzle end of one too
If he wanted to rob the place he wouldn’t be holding the gun like that

When you leave the state where only criminals are armed and wander into another state where everyone is armed
Exactly!
It seems like that isn’t the case here I didn’t even see a robbery attempt I heard a man with a gun say he didn’t mean any harm and that he wasn’t from there although he didn’t make a smart choice I’m not so sure it’s right to call this an attempted robbery
@@rasanchenault9907 He said that because the clerk was armed and ready to go.
@@garyjackson3531 I get that but dude also doesn’t seem like a real “criminal” so the part where he said only criminals are armed in Chicago is what I’m referring to, unless he means the possession of a firearm part I guess
@@rasanchenault9907 Criminals aren't particularly intelligent, but they are fantastic bullshitters. It's how they survive on the streets.
I think his biggest shock was probably when he realized people in the rest of the country are armed, they aren’t putting up with BS, and yes YOU actually get arrested and charged in places outside a city.
But they don't have mass shootings in Chicago. It's mostly criminals killing other criminals so WTF do you care?
What did he do wrong?
I don't think this is what you think it is.
The guy clearly said I don't mean no harm, I'm just not from around here.... Florida is a open carry state so I'm guessing he just didn't know the open carry laws! Lmfao
Open carry is illegal then?
"I'm from Canada bro, I'm unarmed and just here to buy some snacks and a six-pack of weak beer!"
The suspect clearly said: "I don't mean no harm, I'm not from around here, I'm from Chicago bro". That is a clear unmistakable declaration of peaceful intent and no malice towards anyone. He is not threatening anyone with the weapon and he is not showing any aggression. This is clearly not an intended robbery but simply a bad decision to carry a weapon he maybe did not even realise was illegal. A crime is not a crime until a crime actually happens.
🎯
Facts 💯
You can’t walk into any place of business with a firearm in your hand let alone a long gun. This is completely idiotic and the Chicago excuse is BS. This guy knows that as well he just didn’t try anything because the guy behind the counter was ready.
Dude was polite asf🤣
Lmaoooo ikr! I was even kinda confused by what was going on 😂
An armed society is a polite society
@@datboi9539 Uhh is it though? Are you taking the US as an example?
@@fabianatrindade56 certain parts of it.
@@datboi9539 Gotchu, makes more sense.
This is the literal definition of the quote "an armed society is a polite society"
Not really. If he really wanted to shoot the clerk, he would have been on the ready. Real killers don't hesitate
lol, Not sure That applies to "Florida"
Except for, ya know, the guy with the gun who was committed armed robbery with a loaded weapon.
But yeah, “polite society”
It's clearly not a polite society
@woooooooh If that were true why does Texas lead the nation in mass shootings since 2018?
Doesn't sound polite to me.
Chicago boy was about to get introduced to the Florida Man way and thought twice lol
Doesn’t sound like a robbery to me
“I’m from Chicago.” Meaning- we do this all the time with no consequences!
Oh that’s right. I understand now. That’s true.
Basically
“I’m from Chicago” meaning it’s very dangerous and people die a lot there.
Young men there live in trauma and feel the need to carry to protect themselves it’s very hostile and dangerous.
When people think they’re tough because they’re from somewhere 😂
It's really just a violation of Florida open carry law. He never demands money, behaves in a threatening manner, or points the gun at anyone.
Sure he probably intended to rob the store, but he never commits the act or even begins to commit the act.
exactly he shouldn’t be charged for attempted robbery
He walked in with intent of robbery. But upon seeing opposition he became a coward. He should be charged anyway
@@souljah-fo9zw he most likely didn't have the common sense to ask for an attorney and admitted he was going to rob the store
@@souljah-fo9zw We dont know what else is said. The released footage wasnt the whole interaction, could have easily asked for money at some point
Florida open carry law only applies on public property, not private property lol. You can't walk into a convenience store or a bank holding your weapon. Also open carry law usually says your gun has to be holstered or on a sling. Don't spread misinformation if you dont quite know the law. Also if he was charged with a prohibited weapon he was most likely a felon.
He just learned being from Chicago doesn't make him special. No one cares where he's from.
I went to this gas station frequently, and the last owner of this gas station was murdered during a robbery at this gas station. good to see that the new owner defended himself. gotta stay safe in Florida
That had to have been the oddest robbery I’ve ever seen. He casually walked in, nothing to hide his face, was holding the gun all kinds of wrong, doing way too much talking, and the casually walked out. Who’s man is that 😂
So where is it exactly a robbery??
Autism
@@brotherLee340 yea I didn't hear him announce a robbery so Idk if it was a robbery
@@ChinkyChan might just be a 2a auditor
@@brotherLee340 Mm, a good lawyer can get that attempted armed robbery charge dropped for sure. He's not covering his face, he never aimed it upward or attempted robbery, he could claim that he was carrying for self-defense. As for the other charge, if he's not allowed to open carry, then he's not allowed to open carry, but in what way is he carrying a prohibited weapon? I'm guessing it's unregistered, stolen, or he's personally not allowed to have it based on prior convictions, otherwise you couldn't even stick that charge. Anyway, he's not getting a good lawyer, I seriously doubt he can afford one, he's getting a public defender, if by chance he happens to get a half-way competent one, he should at least be able to plead down and get rid of the attempted robbery charge.
Always have your tool on you. Running to the back room is not always feasible.
I love it when ppl think theyre tough because of their hometown.
From this video he definitely will get the attempted robbery charge dropped since (unless there’s more) he never pointed the gun at the clerk nor asked for anything. If he has a decent public defender (assuming he has no money) he will plea this out and have that charge dropped.
Not once did I hear him say give me the money nor did he point it at anyone. How is that a robbery?
Thats what I was tryin to figure out
The same here guys, maybe someone should explain to me why this should be concluded as a robbery? I think there're more to the story than this right here.
He should beat that charge easily.
Same thing I was saying. This is how the media messes up people's mind. Even with the video so clearly, they can't think for themselves. Once the media say it, it got to be so. Think for yourselves people.
Who gives a f?ck ? He came in with a gun ..he was plotting but changed up quickly ..he’s still a criminal who needs to be locked tf up
