  • Rakim Stephen Tate, a suspect in an attempted robbery, was caught on camera at a convenience store in Florida, where he allegedly tried to intimidate the clerk by claiming, "I'm from Chicago, bro." The incident began when Tate entered the store and approached the counter, seemingly with the intent to commit a robbery. However, the situation took an unexpected turn when the quick-thinking clerk revealed that he was armed with a weapon of his own, ready to defend himself and his place of business.

Upon realizing that the clerk was prepared to defend himself, Tate promptly left the store without further incident. The clerk's actions during the attempted robbery have garnered attention from local authorities and the community. Police are currently investigating the incident and are searching for Rakim Stephen Tate, who has not been apprehended.

That's the 1st clue that tells me that he's not from here. Even Barack Obama, the mellowest of mellow men has a bit of Chicago acumen. It's subtle but it's right beneath his surface. Not only that, but most Chicagoans don't lead with, "I'm from Chicago". That cat is probably from Blue Island.

@@leapingcatproductions1777 let's not forget that Illinois IS the farm belt. Chicago just happens to be the New York on The Lake. And that's the odd confluence in that it's absolutely cosmopolitan but it's scant moments away from farms. I remember when we moved from South Shore to Country Club Hills, it was like another world to me. I mean I was never a stranger to the country as my father was a sharecropper from Mississippi and we went there or St. Louis every 3-4yrs for alternating locations for annual family reunions. But to now live footsteps from a cornfield is markedly different from visiting a cotton field for a 3-day weekend. So as a Chicagoan with a little bit of NY in me (that's another story for another post), I identify as a purely urban person whose life experiences have taken him all over the place. I KNOW Chicago when I see it and hear it. It courses through me like The Blues and my parents' blood. That dude is probably from Joliet. Maywood is up there. Bellwood is waaaay up there. Aurora and Elgin are odd historically. Harvey is the South Side of the South Side (super-grimy). Markham is chill. CCHills, Hazel Crest, University Park and Matteson are bourgeois to an extent. Calumet Park is up there and stuck there. So I'm going with Joliet or Kankakee.
