Like I said before everyone had their own style, to those of you looking for home improvement inspiration if you think it’s too dark than all you have to do for your OWN HOME is get a color that reflects the natural light form the windows. I think the home looks very cozy and inviting which is imprint to many people when they have hectic lives and all they want to do is a have a place that they love and literally poured their own heart and soul into to raise their family. I think you all did a wonderful job 💖

Hey whats up, I just bought my first house to renovate, gutted on inside but the guy already put in new plumbing, electric, roof, windows and siding, I know there are alot of factors involved but if I dont run into too many unexpected problems is it reasonable to have a 35k budget to get a 3500 sq ft house finished? Thanks if you answer, i live in maryland.
@@drewdonham out house is just over 1400 sq ft. we did all the work (which you can see is a bit more extensive than it sounds like you have.) but we paid $27 grand give or take when all was said and done. It'll always be more than you expect lol. If we had hired people to do what we did, it would have easily been $70 grand ish. Hope that helped.
Ben, you did a GREAT job. We bought our first house 9 years ago and had planned on just remodeling the bathrooms. People don't realize when you start tearing into a project you find all these "hidden" issues you never knew you had until you tear out a wall. We will be redoing ALL the plumbing, rewiring the ENTIRE house and another "discovery" we made was there was no insulation in ANY of the exterior walls. None. On top of all of this, we found a pipe had burst at some point prior to us buying the house, the house flooded and yea...we now get to replace all the drywall. You did awesome, forget the haters. The fact you had rent on top of a mortgage on top of having to fund the renovations....UGH...Am there, doing that and never ever want to do it again. My next house is either going to be gutted down to the studs so I can see everything or else I will build from scratch.

I relate and applaude as I, with my brother and sister spent 50K and 5000 hours renovating a rental property owned by our mother. 6 am departures to a cold house, endless choices, discoveries and visits to Home Depot.(OMG, another problem!) with 9pm finishes with a 30 minute drive to fall into bed. The house was build in 1988 is in a great location but has had zero maintenance, everything needed attention. Its rewarding and hard work, but never again. I will sell up and live in a nice motorhome with my loyal dogs before I become a slave to a house again.

Very nice before and after 😊 I don’t understand why the comments are so negative about the furniture, it’s not like furniture is permanent. The house is very nice and the carpet upstairs makes sense, when you have kids it’s more comfortable for them.

So the whole thing was built out of necessity really lol. I worked with my wife's uncle you had done it before - so I was learning a lot through the process. So between the two of us we did everything. We only hired someone to level the front porch, but that wasn't part of the video. Thanks for watching!!

To all the not so brilliant people, after spending 74k+27k plus your 4 months pregnant, probably isn't the best time to be worrying about if the furniture is just so and your decor. I'm thinking you have my vote on making what seem to be respectable decisions. You should have put in a in ground pool and hot tube, I'm not sure what you two were thinking- Duh

You should have made it more open though. Nock down some walls and let more natural light fill the rooms. And if you didn't lay carpet in most of the rooms and chosen woodfloors insted, it would look a lot better :)
@@ThePotchika I'm saying water resistant drywall still gets wet and molds over time. Just slower than normal drywall. That's why you need a water proof membrane

I have seen many house renovation videos and I am curious about something: why do they don't remove the chimney top to bottom since it's not in use anymore?
It takes a lot of work and could be a big structural support that would be pretty costly to replace. And also even a useless fireplace has a nice asthetic

My house i just bought doesnt even look half that good. Some one vandilized it. I bought it for 18,000 and its on 2 acres. Cant wait to start the remodel.
The color will stay just fine. They have a clear epoxy that you can paint or spray on top that'll help keep it longer. We've used alot of "Chalk Paint" brand paint and finished it with epoxy and it looks great! One of my videos is a timelapse of another project similar. Thanks for watchin!
It cost us around $27,000 for all the renovations. If we hired someone else to do it (which we didn't look into) but I would be willing to guess it would have been closer to $75,000 - $100,000 total. Labor from contractors / workers is the biggest cost of any service. It would have been a quicker process, but we didn't have that kind of money to spend. Hope that helped!

Yeah I did the most important things however I seen better.I wish y'all would have open the wall to the living room and the kitchen to open the space I love the kitchen tho.. regardless overall it was better than what it was and I understand its not always a need to be quick to update your furniture and decorating. Just spent hell of a lot of money you could take your time on decorations that come with time
Policeman carpet is becoming more & more obsolete here, although there are still some die-hard Carpet in the bedroom lovers. However not many of us like carpet in our homes at all anymore. I know i for one prefer hard flooring that can be cleaned properly & if I need a soft warm place to step then I put down an area rug that I can hose down & shampoo out on the driveway every few months. Way cleaner & easier to maintain for long periods. Lol but he did a beautiful job regardless of anyone else’s personal esthetic preferences. It is his house, his money, his hands... therefore, his choice! 😁🤗

Haley Mason we wanted to so bad! But load bearing supports hindered that. It's nice only having carpet upstairs, the wood on the first floor is great

You guys did a good job but putting tile directly on dry way isnt the best. Even if it's "water resistant" you will still get mold

Policeman carpet is becoming more & more obsolete here, although there are still some die-hard Carpet in the bedroom lovers. However not many of us like carpet in our homes at all anymore. I know i for one prefer hard flooring that can be cleaned properly & if I need a soft warm place to step then I put down an area rug that I can hose down & shampoo out on the driveway every few months. Way cleaner & easier to maintain for long periods. Lol but he did a beautiful job regardless of anyone else’s personal esthetic preferences. It is his house, his money, his hands... therefore, his choice! 😁🤗
Policeman warmth in winter times it just warms up the room more. That’s what I’ve noticed from living in carpet rooms and no carpet rooms
