This version of Slade is practically the complete opposite of any other version of the character I know. Not sure if others would be into a Deathstroke with a moral compass, but I think it’s a nice change of pace.

Correct, in the comics Slade was shot in the eye by his wife after rescuing their son from an assassin and despite having a healing factor that eye never recovered. Thus he only had one eye slot in his mask which didn’t effect his ability in a fight, given the lack of depth perception.

I loved the twist, because it made me, a father, reconsider the entire movie up until this point. Your daughter gets killed, there would be nothing, I mean absolutely nothing you wouldn’t do to get the person who did it. I would march through hell, and back, to get revenge- wrath is one of the deadly sins, due to revenge distorting the line between good & evil. Revenge only makes you want results, but the murder of your child would push you beyond breaking point. As a parent, I know id sacrifice my soul to save my child.. without hesitation.. I love my children, with all my being, if anybody hurts them? I’m going to make that person suffer tenfold- so I can’t blame him for the course of action he took for his revenge. The only thing? I wouldn’t hurt innocent people, regardless of being related, or not.. once you do that? It’s no longer revenge, you’ve become the monster you aimed to kill. A hypocrite. A person with no right to pass judgment on the killer of your child.. Sicario was another like this, the twist being the movie was a revenge story. A father taking revenge for a Cartel Boss who killed his wife, and daughter, then put their bodies in a barrel of acid. Soon as Benicio killed the two sons, and wife? He was the monster he set out to kill.. those two kids didn’t deserve that, the wife? Yea, because she benefitted from the deaths, and destruction, her husband has done for the wealth they obtained. These movies should make a person think, that line between good & evil is VERY VERY thin. That’s why Wrath is a deadly sin, no man or woman can sustain from crossing that line, with a heart filled with wrath. Unless you’re a coward- which is a worse fate.
Damn right pal! Vengeance by itself isn't good or evil, it's a healthy and natural response to any extreme or particularly painful injustice. It all comes down to execution and well-aimed crosshairs. Any moral OCD naysayers arguement is by default invalid, inflexible/rigid thinking, lack of empathy and all that.
This show is just a rewrite of his much more badass cannon history. They made his wife look like a dude in drag. Honestly, he doesn't deserve her. 10:10 So he made his daughter a terrorist, how did he expected things to end?
