I think what set Baldi apart from it's peers is that once the Horror Factor goes away, there is still a good game. There's still something to be enjoyed by the masses once the game's initial scare goes away. So many Mascot Horror games think that Horror and Marketability can be a *substitute* for good design and that's far from true.

Thaf has had his 3D models for 4 years, and I'm his model maker. There are real people behind the model. And a lot of work was put into it. :)
People calling it AI are definitely not artists, the moment I saw the animated classroom sections I immediately lost it at how amazing and fun it was to see, and thought about how much i'd love to do something inspired by it with my own characters in the future

Its also kind of freaky that Null gets erased also from games files, like as if he actually got deleted from the game. And theres a secret game over screen once you beat Null Style, where Null is seen by the lake before his missing arms and head come out screaming before glitching. And although he is a antagonist, hes only doing this because he wants you to be safe instead of playing the game to search for a lore that dosent even exists.
Okay, the post-null mode alt endings are actually really cute, I gotta give it to the dev! Also, in an unfortunate turn of events, the main dev behind AAWVS eventually got sick and tired of working on the game that he straight up gave up on the project and moved on. It's a shame too, there were quite a lot of unique mechanics in the game. Hell at one point the game even had unique death screens for some of the ways you can die in the game (which as of the alleged final alpha build version, are no longer there)

I saw a Steam review on Baldi’s Basics Plus which I think said it best as to why Baldi is able to succeed and be loved whereas other mascot horror games fall short. Baldi’s Basics may be a “horror game,” but even after the scare factor wears off, there’s still, you know… a GAME. There’s still a fun, skill-testing challenge to go through. It doesn’t rely too much on horror, and Classic Remastered outright pokes fun at other horror games prioritizing lore and scariness over gameplay with Null and his secret game mode. At the end of the day, Baldi puts in effort to stay engaging long after the scariness has come and gone. And I respect the hell out of that.
Baldi's basics is a strange fascination of mine, like how it's obviously a joke horror game but the mechanics do actually keep you on your toes to try to win. Edit: Yooooo you have 3D animation in your videos now?
One thing I love about Mystman12, the dev, is that he genuinely is great at programming the NPCs AI and cares a lot about the mechanics of the game. I think he is very talented, despite any surface-level appearances.
Baldi reminds me alot of cruelty squad in that way. It's a half shit post but has enough self respect to give you a nice game under a layer of irony. It's cruelty squad minus the French philosophy.

Fun fact : If the name "Eternity Dev" sounds familiar during the "Advanced Education with Viktor nameican'tspell" part. That's probably because he made a game that some RUclipsrs like Vinesauce and The Librarian played somewhat recently, Voices of the Void. In other words since people didn't like the use of "TL:DR", Advanced Education dev also made funny game where you are alone in a park with 20 satellites, a home base, and many creepy signals from the black void of space.

I remember being super fascinated by Baldi's when it first came out. It's nice to see it evolve into its own thing and keep its own identity while remaining true to the original as newer editions came out
Honestly Baldi's Basics is one of the most unique games period. It's fun, it has a cool aesthetic, a lot, and I mean A LOT of charm, extreme replayability, and it has a passionate developer and community. I genuinely can't wait to play the final version of BB+, but that will be a long time from now, for now I just want to see what awesome stuff Micah will come up with in the meantime.
i didn't even know there was so much to baldis. honestly. also the colored subtitles while showing the characters yelling or something & describing like "rapid stomping" is very appreciated

I was there when Baldi's Basics was first released and started to blow up on RUclips. Manlybadasshero was the one who introduced me to this game, alongside another one of my favorites, Lisa the Painful.
I don't know if it was Manly, but as soon as I saw Baldi I got a little obsessed and started looking for videos on it and Manly was at least one of the first videos I saw. I was just looking for people getting wacky moments with GOTTA SWEEP SWEEP SWEEP for serotonin.
Just a heads up to those who came from the shadman list, thaf has stated that his interaction with shad was when he was 17-18 before he was a content creator and barely interacted. He never even knew who shadman teally was untill he was 19-20 when he had already written him off and would frequently s**t talk him every time he was brought up. He does not support him and never has.

This was surprisingly more in-depth and engaging than I expected- I remember getting curious by Baldi again after I had binged Bijuu Mike playing through most of Raldi's Crackhouse until he finally stopped getting comments about yet another extra, extra EXTRA hidden boss he missed after several updates. To see how in-depth the evolution of this game actually went and that not only the dev never went the milking route, but also actually had given BBCR so much stuff for a free game... ...And even an *honest send-off, no more lore implications or tricks hidden in the game*, when you somehow managed to go through every single inch of that game- the ending itself kinda doubling as the "lore" closure with how NULL is no longer there and the game now turns into Baldi messing with you. Mighty good work on this one, buddy.
They also released a field trip demo for the Kickstarter campaign focusing on the first version of the camping trip, where you have to gather as much firewood as you can and fuel the fire before the timer (or the fire) goes out. I think MystMan12 scrapped this because it wasn't very fun to play. He has whole game design documents, years-long framework rehauls (see BB+ 0.4) and all the rest of it to make sure the game is as good to play as he can make it. Also EternityDev (AKA MrDrNose) released another Baldi's Basics "fangame" under a different username, called Alex' Basics in Biology and Zoology, which had 22 notebooks and an aesthetic that was a cross between Baldi's Basics' old-school dithered edutainment style and Advanced Education's dark horror themes. MystMan12 played it alongside JayskiBean in one of his videos. It was apparently a social experiment, and some time after releasing that he started making two sequels for it: Scrina's Sensors, which was based on a character called Scrina and had realistic action-based gameplay shown on his RUclips channel, and ABIBAZ Remastered, which has much more decorative details including foliage and a character model for Olivia (the protagonist), and only has test maps in it at the moment. He also made a very popular game called Voices of the Void after that, which might be familiar to you and is his current focus.
Was not expecting to learn that the creator of Voices of the Void made a Baldi fangame, the moment he showed the gameplay I was like “those lockers look really similar to the ones in Voices of the Void”.

MystMan has stated that once he's done with Baldi's Basics Plus, that's it. There won't be a sequel, or a spin-off, or anything like that. And it's mostly 'cuz he wants to make much better things later down the line. And fun fact. The game was initially going to be made for the 3DS, as he was a prominent user on 3DS hacking due to this one homebrew program I forgot the name of. He had the idea for the game I think 3 years prior to the original Meta Game Jam release that he wanted to make for said 3DS program simply for the fun of it, but he turned the idea down likely due to the 3DS being pretty difficult to get much on it. There is a single line he recorded on his 3DS for the game, which likely leaked the fact that the name of the game was on the spot, as he said "Welcome to Baldi's Basics in Understand and Learning" before correcting it to "Education". Likely a name he just came up with like a minute or two ago before the recording. I assume once MystMan saw the Meta Game Jam being a thing, he decided to be a part of it and use his old Baldi idea as a submission. And I'm pretty sure he was VERY late to it as well, seeing as he was mere minutes away from the jam being over and I even think he said it once in an interview. But yeah. That's kinda it for Baldi now. He IS selling official plushies, but honestly, plushies aren't really a big deal with games. It's just merch, and everyone loves the characters, so why not? Toby Fox works with Fangamer to make a ton of merch of his characters, like plushies, clothes, figures, keychains, and why wouldn't he? He's the creator and composer of two of the best RPGs to ever come out in the 21st century. And he's still considered a fantastic game developer due to his incredible skills, sense of humor, and being a great developer to his fans. MystMan selling plushies is practically nothing at this point.

I love that the intro contains a reference to how anticlimactic the full release of Minecraft was, since basically everyone had played it by then anyway.
I don't know if anyone has said this already but fun fact: there is another ending in party style that isn't the main ending and alternative with Null. There's another one where if you use the teleporter as the world is being destroyed, Null yells at you and blames you for causing the world to be breaking. It's possibly the best voice delivery in the entire series, yes, better then baldi's classic "GET OUT WHILE YOU STILL CAN!!". I thought that should be mentioned but I don't know if it's still available to get in the current version of BBCR.

Wow oh wow this was awesome!! A truly entertaining vid the whole way through. All of the info was appreciated and delivered in a fun and understandable way, the editing + visuals were top tier frfr, and all of the jokes landed wonderfully. I remember being super fascinated by Baldi's when it first came out. It's nice to see it evolve into its own thing and keep its own identity while remaining true to the original as newer editions came out
Honestly Baldi's Basics is one of the most unique games period. It's fun, it has a cool aesthetic, a lot, and I mean A LOT of charm, extreme replayability, and it has a passionate developer and community. I genuinely can't wait to play the final version of BB+, but that will be a long time from now, for now I just want to see what awesome stuff Micah will come up with in the meantime.
I'm glad Viktor's Advanced Education got a mention here, really underrated.

I was there when Baldi's Basics was first released and started to blow up on RUclips.
Manlybadasshero was the one who introduced me to this game, alongside another one of my favorites, Lisa the Painful.
I don't know if it was Manly, but as soon as I saw Baldi I got a little obsessed and started looking for videos on it and Manly was at least one of the first videos I saw.
I was just looking for people getting wacky moments with GOTTA SWEEP SWEEP SWEEP for serotonin.

He never even knew who shadman teally was untill he was 19-20 when he had already written him off and would frequently s**t talk him every time he was brought up. This was surprisingly more in-depth and engaging than I expected- I remember getting curious by Baldi again after I had binged Bijuu Mike playing through most of Raldi's Crackhouse until he finally stopped getting comments about yet another extra, extra EXTRA hidden boss he missed after several updates. To see how in-depth the evolution of this game actually went and that not only the dev never went the milking route, but also actually had given BBCR so much stuff for a free game...
...And even an *honest send-off, no more lore implications or tricks hidden in the game*, when you somehow managed to go through every single inch of that game- the ending itself kinda doubling as the "lore" closure with how NULL is no longer there and the game now turns into Baldi messing with you.

They also released a field trip demo for the Kickstarter campaign focusing on the first version of the camping trip, where you have to gather as much firewood as you can and fuel the fire before the timer (or the fire) goes out. I think MystMan12 scrapped this because it wasn't very fun to play. He has whole game design documents, years-long framework rehauls (see BB+ 0.4) and all the rest of it to make sure the game is as good to play as he can make it.
Also EternityDev (AKA MrDrNose) released another Baldi's Basics "fangame" under a different username, called Alex' Basics in Biology and Zoology, which had 22 notebooks and an aesthetic that was a cross between Baldi's Basics' old-school dithered edutainment style and Advanced Education's dark horror themes. MystMan12 played it alongside JayskiBean in one of his videos. It was apparently a social experiment, and some time after releasing that he started making two sequels for it: Scrina's Sensors, which was based on a character called Scrina and had realistic action-based gameplay shown on his RUclips channel, and ABIBAZ Remastered, which has much more decorative details including foliage and a character model for Olivia (the protagonist), and only has test maps in it at the moment. He also made a very popular game called Voices of the Void after that, which might be familiar to you and is his current focus.
Alex's basics was pretty neat in my opinion because of what happens at the end.
This whole video was such a wonderfully sweet thing for you to do, and i can't wait for Mystman12 to see it.

MystMan has stated that once he's done with Baldi's Basics Plus, that's it. There won't be a sequel, or a spin-off, or anything like that. And it's mostly 'cuz he wants to make much better things later down the line. And fun fact. The game was initially going to be made for the 3DS, as he was a prominent user on 3DS hacking due to this one homebrew program I forgot the name of. He had the idea for the game I think 3 years prior to the original Meta Game Jam release that he wanted to make for said 3DS program simply for the fun of it, but he turned the idea down likely due to the 3DS being pretty difficult to get much on it. There is a single line he recorded on his 3DS for the game, which likely leaked the fact that the name of the game was on the spot, as he said "Welcome to Baldi's Basics in Understand and Learning" before correcting it to "Education". Likely a name he just came up with like a minute or two ago before the recording.
I assume once MystMan saw the Meta Game Jam being a thing, he decided to be a part of it and use his old Baldi idea as a submission. And I'm pretty sure he was VERY late to it as well, seeing as he was mere minutes away from the jam being over and I even think he said it once in an interview.
But yeah. That's kinda it for Baldi now. He IS selling official plushies, but honestly, plushies aren't really a big deal with games. It's just merch, and everyone loves the characters, so why not? Toby Fox works with Fangamer to make a ton of merch of his characters, like plushies, clothes, figures, keychains, and why wouldn't he? He's the creator and composer of two of the best RPGs to ever come out in the 21st century. And he's still considered a fantastic game developer due to his incredible skills, sense of humor, and being a great developer to his fans. MystMan selling plushies is practically nothing at this point.

I love that the intro contains a reference to how anticlimactic the full release of Minecraft was, since basically everyone had played it by then anyway.
I don't know if anyone has said this already but fun fact: there is another ending in party style that isn't the main ending and alternative with Null. There's another one where if you use the teleporter as the world is being destroyed, Null yells at you and blames you for causing the world to be breaking. It's possibly the best voice delivery in the entire series, yes, better then baldi's classic "GET OUT WHILE YOU STILL CAN!!". I thought that should be mentioned but I don't know if it's still available to get in the current version of BBCR.
Feels like I could actively go Baldi's school and graduate from 9th grade to senior year before Thaf can release another video.
