Lauren speaks directly to the issue and calls out the President and Vice President on their positions, but it is the leaders of Congress, in the House and in the Senate, who have control over this issue. The Legislative Branch, not the Executive Branch, and it is they who lack the moral character to reduce access to the tools that cause so much pain and death. There are between 270,000,000 and 310,000,000 guns in the United States. Is it likely or even possible that we will get them away from the citizens? No! It won't happen. Ever. We've created this problem over the years, for not just decades but for centuries. Now we get to deal with the problems that mass gun production, marketing and sales has created. We are at fault.

Lauren well said. I could not agree with you more. Here in Australia the Port Arthur massacre in Tasmania in 1996 caused a nationwide transformation of gun laws and a buyback of all guns by the government at the time. This was proactive strong leadership that has no doubt saved many many lives since. Thank you for spreading the word - change is possible.
So, in a way, massacres are a good thing. If not for that massacre, gun laws wouldn't have changed.

@@alexsandoval4248 I see your point (really I do), but on the other hand the diference in the number of crimes between US and Europe are not pretty good for the US. Perfection doesnt exist, of course, and everything has pros and conts, let me clear about it, but I really don't think normal citizens with guns are our best option to stop ISIS.

We don’t take cars away from sober people because of drunk drivers kill people . As a matter of fact more people are killerd by drunk drivers than guns . My rights are not negotiable! The right of the people to keep and bear arms will not be infringed !
Gun control isn't take away all guns from everyone,(I do think this is almost impossible for the us due to ignorance and "pride" on some people's behalf) but even just adding legislation to make it harder to acquire and keep guns would be a step in the right direction, atm it's easier to get a gun licence than it is to get a car licence, requiring full background checks, mental health checks, in depth training courses for saftey, and annual check ups on what weapons, ammo and how they are stored in your household to be put in place, requiring weapons to be locked up safely separate from the ammunition and a yearly/bi-yearly refresher course should be put in place.
Meaning you can keep your guns, people who are potentially dangerous and unstable can't get their hands on these weapons as easily (I'm aware they can be got illegally but it is harder) leaving people more safe from the people who are dangerous, and the people who are dangerous in a position where it's more difficult to obtain firearms on a large scale.
I'd be interested to hear your opinion on this, obviously being an avid gun enthusiast you would have a stronger option on this potential solution.
The United States already has 22000 gun laws . One more will help , right ? Give me a break . Gun laws only affect law abiding citizens. Bad people will always be able to get guns no matter what laws you put I place .

Cars require a drivers license and a test. There should be a license to own a gun and a mental test.
Theres too many guns in USA, easier just to ban the worst guns like AR15 and go you can keep your handgun as your right.

I live in Scotland. I agree with our gun laws here. That said, when Lauren dismissed prayers and faith and almost got angry at this, that I fear showed some disrespect to those with faith. I know she's saying prayers ALONE won't change things, but the way she said it, it sounded almost like she has no respect for those with faith. I hope that's not true. Because being a good christian is important to many, even if not to her.
I don't know whats so confusing about the law; A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. Notice the "shall not be infringed" part. The second amendment was created so we the people could defend our selves from all threats. Something else you may not know is that everyone that takes office, public service, military, and naturalized citizens takes an oath to defend the constitution. If you would bother to look up those oaths you'll notice that protecting sheep isn't anywhere in there. In this country the sheep should protect themselves.

I'm not sure what your argument is? I'm going to take a wild guess that your argument is that a well regulated militia are the only ones who should be allowed to keep and bear arms. Heller vs DC shows us that while they were also talking about a militia they were also talking about an individuals rights to keep and bear arms. The constitution was written and founded on the individuals rights and freedoms not just the collective.
The constitution was designed to be changed as circumstances changed. I don't think they took semi auto assault weapons into account.
That is another old argument has been debunked. The founders knew that didn't know what was to come in the future, but there was a full auto musket or such (how effective is one's own opinion). The founders always sided with freedom all the while leaving room to move. While I will have to agree that it is possible for the constitution to be amended I have yet to hear anyone come up with a proper solution to gun violence. I am not sure what your argument is? Are you trying to say that because you can attach a flashlight to a rifle it should be against the law? There is no such thing as an "assault" rifle so i don't understand your argument.
I'm saying the proper solution to gun violence is to restrict access to guns. Almost all hazardous consumer goods are restricted and regulated, even lighters are childproofed. Guns are certainly hazardous so why the exception?
