Thanks for the tips I’m moving to Dallas next month and hoping to secure a job soon. I have my MBA in finance management so it’s good to know all the big 4 firms are in Dallas!
I just moved to Dallas and your videos have truly been a blessing. I’m currently job searching and I’ll definitely be using these tips. I have to go update and get my LinkedIn together now.
I’m moving to Dallas when my lease is up. I’ll be getting my CPA before i leave my current city because I’m in the accounting field and i know that will go a very long way. I’m so excited!
Thanks . I plan to move to Houston next year. while the cities are different the tips you provided are very helpful. I’m one of those people who do not use LinkedIn so I’ll be checking it out 😁
I will love to move to Dallas with a professional job before I get there. But being out of State, dont even know how that’s possible with our current situation. Pandemic and relocating... too many people seem to be moving to Dallas. I have an MPA plus yrs of experience, but it seems like if you are not there right now, you get overlooked. And I sure don’t want a temp or low pay job. Love your channel and content. Thanks for sharing.
Depending on where your moving from you may experience a decrease in salary. Being from the east coast originally I found the cost of living is lower here so finding a comparable salary was hard. I ended up taking a temp job at a higher rate with a good company and was hired on full time 6 months later. Just don’t discount temporary roles, They may work out for you in the end!
I think everyone's experience is different. In my opinion and experience, it depends on the industry and who you know. Dallas has a lot of $10 and $15 dollar jobs that you can get fairly quickly. The only kicker is you need three and four of them just to pay the rent and survive. If you want a well paid job you have to know someone in the industry or company you want to work for. Sending resumes can be waste in a lot of instances because of the ATS and saturation of people moving here looking/applying for the same job. Then you have the fact that people in Dallas are not easy to befriend and network with for whatever reason. So that can be a challenge to meet people that could possibly help you secure employment. I've encountered people are very cliquish, antisocial and somewhat segregated. The "goodie boy" system is alive and well here for sure and its not so much about you work experience, skill set or education. Now I do understand that these things are all over but Dallas is a very peculiar place that illustrates things in a much aggressively way that I have not seen.
Same here. I just moved here to Dallas and still can’t find a job. It’s all low paying jobs and I declined it. Austin got few high paying jobs but apartment are expensive so I don’t wanna live there. I’m gonna look for jobs in Houston.
We all have our experiences..but to put fears aside. Dallas Has th most jobs in the US..big corporate jobs are easier to come by. That being said...This is not a city for making friend's... People here keep their mind on work.
If possible can you please tour some apartments in North & Northeast Dallas? I'll be moving to Dallas in the next few months, and have found that region to be good for new residents of Dallas.
Rieka Chanel from what I’ve researched it’s a central location in Dallas. It has many different retail shops and restaurants. Also it’s not too from other parts of Dallas like Downtown Uptown, and Deep Ellum.
I am a black woman in my 40's from California, with a bachelors degree, living in the DFW area. My career field is ecommerce merchandising and operations, I have been here 1 month and have not landed a job yet. Oh wow, you seem very educated I know something will come through for you keep trying. Maybe you can try Linkedin like the vid suggest. I'm going to try that myself. I wish you the best on your job search journey!
@@sweetsugar1014 UPDATE: I'm connected with a specialized recruiting company that's sending me daily job posts and I've been on 4 interviews since my posting!!! I just received a request for a second interview with a company this morning so things are going much better on the job search. Thank you to those that contacted me for your kind words of support and great advice!!!
Im a lifelong graphic designer. I have my graphic designer resume uploaded to Linked In. I have had it there for four years. I have applied to several graphic design/digital illustration positions throughout Linkedin. I have enabled email notifications for Linkedin to tell me when a graphic design company is interested in me or is hiring. For four years, I have only gotten offers for telemarketing and oil rigging jobs. Which is, of course, ever graphic designer’s dream right? Dont believe the hype. Linkedin is business-focused. Artists are kicked to the curb and they couldnt care less. If youre an artist of any kind, Linkedin is shit.
Yes lol this is why you need to go to college because think about it they could find someone with a master degree or something and pay them you still can get a job but it wont be the best paying I'm in high school by the way.

Thomas Young did you use a local TX address? I heard some companies shy away from out of state applicants
@@cjcopeland1 its true.
It's hard to get a job if you're out of state.
But using a texas address works better on your resume

I have been applying and haven’t had any luck. I have a bachelor in Engineering Technology. I don’t know what I am doing wrong.
I'm not sure about neighborhoods for recent grads. What neighborhoods would you recommend? I am looking at Oak Lawn, Uptown, and Deep Ellum.
Check out my Dallas Pros and Cons video as well as my Dallas Apt Touring video! I highlight some options
