Mr Lavender is such a great interview! He is so genuine. But it's almost hard to imagine that he was "the hot head" and violent since his demeanor now is so calm and reserved.
This OG has alot of style, and he's humble. He's like a California gang life encyclopedia. He shared some things that I didn't know. Good looking out..
Jay Shoota I'm really from H74VER Swans ain't never been able to deal with us so knock it off with all that bs you talking bout. I can tell you not from the house
Jay Shoota Smh you not even from L.A stop trying to speak on H74VER business you know nothing bout us or L.A gangs except for what you see and hear on videos boy
Mr lavenders account of that event seems a little biased. They met up for playing a friendly game of football then hoovers just came through shooting out of the blue? Doesnt sound right. Its more likely that they were engaged in some serious beef and that meeting wasnt that friendly from the start. Swans were pushing a hard line too they have several well known serial killers in their ranks
If there was a lot of tuff talk before the game that's why the game is to be played to see who is tuff for real but cowardice is a bad defect of character they were throwing the ball not sitting in cars or bushes.
Big Up Kev Mac... I'm from the West Adam area. Born in 78. My pops is from Watts. I dig the historical accuracy, & no glamorizations of the life. Just facts. Can learn lot from these videos.

This brother speaks with so much knowledge and intelligence. What I love is that he gives history without glorifying the violence. He just tells truth and he does it in a classy way. Respect!
That moment with Took says a lot to me about this interview. I think Jimmy Lavender is telling the truth about everything. I also think Took and Raymond together put fear in a lot of hearts whether they want to admit it or not. Growing up on the Westside Took was our central figure. My grandfather was a Businessman back in his day and him a Jimmy Lavender have a similar style. A lot of what Jimmy says about the Westside you have to take with a grain of salt because he said didnt spend a lot of time over there. Not that it isn't true. But some of what he says could just be heresy.

Mac ask real questions Alonso not even close to asking shit like this... don't get me wrong Alonzo the king of this shit, but from a banger point of view Mac knows how to ask good questions
don wise I don't fault Alonzo. He got the ball rolling. But Kev is from the culture so he has more access and background information to base questions on. I'd love to see him interview T. Rodgers. I don't think he has yet to be interviewed properly.
Alonso isn't the king of anything. He's an outsider trying to capitalize on the infamous LA gang scene, and it shows even after all these years with his faulty info and screwed up gang map. Kev is the right person for this. He's from these streets. He knows what questions to ask, and how to ask them. He has a rapport with the interviewees that allows them to naturally open up more.
Alonso and Kev are from two different worlds. Alonso is an academic. Kev is from the streets. Only a person from the streets can get real street dudes that truly know the history. Why would a day one leader/vet talk to Alonso. Also why would Alonso know what questions to really ask ? Alonso ask about a lot of hear say. Kev is asking facts because he knows the history because it was handed down to him first hand by other OG's. Nothing against Alonso. But to truly know what goes on in the streets you have to either be from the streets or be in the streets !! An outsider can only get so far. That's like white people that teach African History.
