Part 2: Keepin It Real, Ep 23
We're a family of 6, doing life with nonverbal autistic twin boys...This is EllisFamLife #autistictwins, where we like to keep it real, share fun and serious stories, tips of the trade, anecdotes, and basically, what our daily life looks like. New videos loaded on Wednesdays and Saturdays...Check out our RUclips channel: EllisFamLife #autistictwins.

Can I just say, you are AMAZING. I don’t know how you still smile. That is a LOT to go through.

Yikes I almost forgot how much struggle was going on at once... but you and Frank have handled them as well as you can and I’m proud of you! And I know Gran and your mom would be too. 🥰

Wow. You have gone through so much, in such a short time. I can't even imagine how you pushed through. I guess because you just have to. But still, you're incredible. You're an amazing mother. Your family is so lucky to have you.

@@ellisfamlifeautistictwins5449 YES! That is very true. I've had some, not so great, experiences in my life, but somehow you just keep going. You just wake up and you go and your feet move and sometimes your cheeks are a resting ground for a river of tears, but you just do it. And that's so amazing! As human beings, to be able to be so broken at times, but still keep moving. For all the crap there is in the world, there are so many awesome things.

My son babbelled too he's finally picked up a few words but it's still mixed in with babbel and he's 4 now. He communicates thru sign language, pecs and maybe 12 words now. Communication has been a struggle in this house 😭😭my son was not fun at all lol he's been hard since day 1. He never slept and I have insomnia so the struggle was real! He's a little more fun now. Omg I'm so sorry for ur loss!😭😭

I’m finally sitting and watching these. I love you amber. This was so freakin brave of you to do this to get this out and be transparent such a way that is so scary. I know you aren’t doing this to be a hero. This whole story will be the story of your life. It will bring you peace and healing. I’m really glad you’re doing these videos. I’m proud of you.

Thank you friend! It is very therapeutic to share our story and raise awareness. This one was soooooo hard though. Goodness, glad it’s done and I can sorta move on to happier parts of the story. 😌
      Love you too! 😘❤️

D was similar in some ways and very different in others. He saw Early Intervention specialists in our home from about a year on, for hypotonia. I wanted them to tell me why. They never did. They just tried to get him stronger. He didn’t even walk until he was almost two. My heart went out to you. I felt those moments flooding back. Oh how I hated “well child” visits. 😥 It was his cuddly-ness, though (I held him all the time, too), that kept him from being diagnosed. I kept telling them I strongly suspected autism, and they (18 years ago) kept saying autistic children didn’t like to be Ed and never cuddled, so it couldn’t be. 😩

Oh my. I know right? “But autistic kids don’t like to be held or cuddled.” I kept telling myself that over and over and it took me a long time to realize the truth bc I just couldn’t believe my sweet cuddly boys were autistic. 🤷🏼‍♀️😬❤️😘
