Sonny James, "the Southern Gentleman" was one of the greatest country artist of all time. He had 24 #1 hits in a row. Whether a cover or an original, Sonny was in a class by himself. I answered the phone at 2:30 in the morning; while I was working at KNIX in Tempe, and the voice on the other end of the line was Sonny James. Had a wonderful conversation with the "Southern Gentleman." It was a thrill for me, for it was my first full time job in radio at the number one station in Phoenix. I will always remember that call for as long as I live. RIP Sonny!
Probably the greatest singer.
