- Well, I drew a blank. Only saw one fish rising later on and targeted him.
After trying a few CDC patterns, I finally resorted to my old favourite: my Greenwell's Parachute Spider #16. He took the fly but spat the hook.
Still, a beautiful venue and some well earned fresh air away from work!

Hi Eoin, I reckon that it will be June before I get a shot on any river and that will be a big competition at the R.Dee so in between teaching and matches on still waters I will be tying up some river patterns.
Good to hear from you after quite a long absence. Tight Lines.
My favourite parachute is the most prolific off the top, Iain. It's caught me most fish (brownies & grays) over the years. Tight lines to you too.... and is that offer of Pearsall's Primrose still going? 🤔👌🎣
You should try the egg farm in pen y bont on the river Tanant would regularly catch 20 trout on a days fishing
Good morning, James and please forgive the very late reply... I've neglected checking comments for some time... I'll try the Tenant during the coming season and thanks for the heads-up! 😉👌🎣

Always good to watch your videos. Nice to see someone else make a mess with their first cast like me. Its real. Was it a bit cold and early in the season for dries.? The water looked very clear. The twig put up a spirited fight ! I'm still envious that you have been out on a river and I have not. What was your rod that day? At least you hooked one and it was at long range. Tight Lines.
Evening, buddy!
It is early but I’m tenacious and being Irish… persistent! 😉🎣
I’ve a philosophy: they may not be rising, but you can always make em rise 😉
The branch did indeed put up a fight and as the video will attest, fought harder when I attempted to extract my tippet from it 🤣
This was the only brownie rising and I did eventually provoke him to take my parachute. But he evaded capture. Still… that’s the game 😉👌🎣
Hey love the vids and channel, question for ya hope you don't mind me asking,do I detect a hint of a wee northern accent.as in the other part of Ireland.
Thanks for the positive comment… and indeed you do detect a ‘Norn Irish ☘️’ accent. I’ve been here in the North West (Wirral & Flintshire) since 1995… and before that in London then France 🇫🇷 since 1985… originally from Belfast 😉👌
Hi Eoin, nice video, which beat on the Elwy were you fishing?
Morning, John!
This is Beat 3. 👌
Later in the season, it becomes much more lively, surface wise. I’m dry fly only, so numbers aren’t my thing 😉🎣👍
