  • There are ~2 trillion galaxies in the observable universe, and the spiral galaxies are thought to account for ~several hundred billion of them. Our Milky Way galaxy is a spiral galaxy and contains 100 billion stars or more, 10 miilion to 1 billion black holes, and several billion potentially habitable planets, all rough estimates given the enormous scale of our galaxy.
