If you are going into the mountains during ski season - the back way is _the_ way to go. Last time I tried I-70, It took me 4 hours to reach Loveland Ski Area - and I left the Springs at 5am. Never again. Take the back way.
I've never thought Colorado Springs was isolated. It's a solid B city - basically has everything anyone could need and the A city (Denver) is a short drive away without being annexed into the metro area. To me, that's a huge plus.
We also have the best city park in the country (Garden of the Gods).

Appreciate the comment! Clearly the back way is the way to go! Loveland Ski Area is one of my favorite spots!
Love the perspective, really the point was to compare how connected everything feels in Denver and the surrounding suburbs than CO Springs. Sometimes cons for some can be pros for others!
And yes, I have to admit Garden of the Gods is unbelievable!
